A Meeting in Edinburgh

Edinburgh, Scotland

The King and Lord Wotton both sat in the royal chamber, conferring with one another.

"I can assure you, My King, that this meeting can go smoothly. I know the Welsh are a bit trigger happy, but that said, they wouldn't dare try anything too insulting. We are, after all, big brother."

"I know that quite well, Henry. Our neighbors may be rash, but they aren't exactly stupid. We must remember to be cordial, though, Henry. After all, they do have some things we want."

"Ah, I know this quite well, my liege. But, with your permission, I'm not going to take care of them lightly. They own the land of my distant cousins estate, and those damn radical republicans have sure given him the tit-and-tat. They stripped him of his estate and recognized him as nothing more than a "citizen." Can you believe it? A nobleman, seen in the same regard as a common filthy peasant."

"I'm well aware of the dangers these radicals pose to us, Henry, but follow my lead. By the time they get out of here, they will understand us quite well."

At this point, a page entered the room. "My king, Lord Wotton, our Welsh guests are here."

"Send them in, George," began the king. "And be sure to offer them something to eat. We wouldn't want our guests to think us rude."

The page nodded, and was off to retrieve the guests.

Owain Glyndŵr walked into the Chamber and was instantly taken aback by the young King who stared back at him with a unmerciful glare.

"If I'm not mistaken, you are indeed King Edward?"

The king's glare towards the Welshman was skeptical and ruthless, but the hostile undertones weren't all that pronounced. Even still, the King could tell that Glyndŵr could pick up on it. After all, the Welsh president got a poor reception wherever he went; he was probably quite used to the hostile undertones.

"King Edward IX, I am indeed. And before you feel the inclination to point out more trivialities, this is Lord Henry Wotton, my First Minister." Lord Wotton nodded at the Welshman, but did not get up for a handshake. "And you must be Mr. Glyndŵr. Tell me, neighbor, what brings you to Scotland this fine day?" The question was asked in a most condescending manner.

With the tension in the room visible to any amateur observer, the three leaders took seats at a long table, and the Royals awaited the reply of their democratically elected counterpart.

OOC: I hope this isn't an inopportune time to arrive.

IC: Patrick Nielsen arrived in Edinburgh, hoping to iron out some of the issues that had suddenly arisen with the new Scottish King. He was aware that the Welsh president was already meeting with Edward. He spoke with a page in the entry hall and asked him to inform the king that he had arrived.

The page informed Mr. Nielsen that the king was attending to urgent matters, and that he likely wouldn't be available until the next day.

OOC: If possible, I'd like this split into a different thread.

The venom in the King's words leaped out at Glyndŵr like a deadly cobra. He knew that it was never beneficial to retaliate with aggression, but in the case of egomaniacal monarchs, such a threatening tone was needed to counter the extreme retardation that the nobility posses.

"Frankly, I would be pleased if you cut the crap. You know damn well why I'm here. The masses of troops stationed on our borders, the disappearance of certain highland clans, the extreme aggression you have shown to our neighbors. Do you think it would all go unnoticed? Its truly a shame, Scotland deserves an Scottish King as well, not a bastard English one.

OOC: :D Intense enough for you?

The Welshman brought harsh words with him. In fact, they were so harsh, that Lord Wotton was about two angry words away from ordering his imprisonment and execution. However, neither leader ordered such a thing.

"Well, peasant, I know it's difficult for you to understand," began the King, "But there is royal business occurring here. I have done nothing outside of what a good leader would do. I don't see Wales running around with a destabilizing clan system crippling the central government. As I'm sure even you might be able to figure out, that hinders national supremacy.

"As for the troops, we've needed to step up military numeracy in order to maintain our stability. The new troops are all over the country- not just on the border. However, if you weren't such a gung-ho twit as most of you commoners are, then I'm sure you would have realized it.

"As for the aggression, it comes from attitudes such as your own. You are an uneducated peasant, and ramble on as if it were so.

"That said, I pity your weak little common mind. Which is why, Mr. Glyndŵr, I've decided to make you an offer. No doubt, you still recall the corrupt 'elections' that were held in England, which undermined the authority of my father's legitimate claim there. Scotland is the master of this Isle. There shouldn't be question about it. But, I'm a good man. I don't like to see bloodshed. So, I come with a deal in mind; I wish to purchase your English counties, fair, and square. You name the dollar amount, Scotland will pay it. OUr legitimate claim ought to be realized, and I believe that a purchase can leave both parties compensated.

Glyndŵr was furious. He chair went crashing to the floor as he sprang from his chair.

"You know damn well those elections were fair. It was supervised by multiple nations from across Europe. In any case, I will never subject to this."

"Just like your father, your claim to England is illegitimate. England is now a democracy, where the votes of those free people chose to become part of Wales. No longer can a monarch control them with an ironfist. No longer will you instill fear in their hearts."

"I completely refuse your offer on all accounts."

"The very elections themselves were a sham, and you know it. Why my father even permitted them to occur is an anomaly to myself- This great country of ours," The King said, pointing outside to a pristine view of Edinburgh, "could have destroyed your nation and occupied it a thousand years. My only reasoning could be that he was a sickly man and did not want to deal with the added stresses of political conflict- in any case, I, being a strong young King, desire to repair those wrongs which have been dealt my country. I wish only to claim what is mine.

"England, as you call it, does not exist. Wales has incorporated it by a disgusting twist of fate. A small infernal republic on the South end of this island embarrasses all patriotic Englishmen. I wish to establish a United Kingdom of Scotland and England- one worthy of all the glories afforded to the old Empire.

"I regret to hear that you have refused my offer, Mr. Glyndower. You realize that one way or another, I will achieve my ends, right? I always get what I want. You shall see. I was hoping to strike some sort of deal that would be mutually beneficial, but apparently the reports of your idiocy and belligerence are all true. Well, commoner, if you refuse to deal with me, then we shall see what the future holds. I guarantee you it will not be in your favor."

With that message sent, it was assumed the Welsh President would leave. The King hoped he would. No limo would be waiting for him. He would be hassled by security when he took to the air to return to Cardiff. Best of all, when the man finally did return home, he would be faced with crisis. Edward would guarantee it.

Glyndŵr left the room steaming. Now there was no other choice. Scotland will not bully the Welsh into submission.

Walking through the exit, a lone man in a black suit, most likely a Scottish security officer, approached Glyndŵr.

"Sir, I'm going to have to check you before you lea....."

Not missing a single beat, Glyndŵr punched the man directly in the face. The man crumpled onto the floor as Glyndŵr kept walking until he left the building.

Outside, Glyndŵr looked around for the limo, which was missing. He reached into his pocket and produced a cell phone, and dialed a number.

"Yes sir?

Glyndŵr spoke into the phone.

"Send me Grufford, and ready the private jet instead, I've decided to take a different flight."

A moment later, the back up car that followed the President on a daily basis arrived in front. Glyndŵr got in and proceeded to make another call.

"Megan, Cyngres baratoi ar gyfer fy cyrraedd, dweud wrthynt i ddisgwyl y waeth ....."

Within an hour, The Welsh President was on an unmarked private plane headed for Wales.
