"I still think that holding back to develop a relationship in the future is our best option," Percy Collins said. He had been reinstated as the foreign relations minister, but unlike Tres Valentine's regime he actually had managed to scrape out a stronger role for himself, using his experience and seniority to exert greater influence. "And do what? Sit on our hands? A resurgent Dominion could use any means to topple the Kazakhstani government. If they were to forge an alliance with the DCA it could result in foreign investment in the area, resulting in the Dominion forces having the resources to fight a more sustained battle," Thaddeus Barbaro retorted. Collins shook his head. "We don't even know if it is the Dominion." "I have sent official dispatches to the Confederacy and Wales requesting information. Further, I am offering them real estate in Sahndaq as a general headquarters for any further action," Chancellor D'Annunzio said. "That said, I believe that given the nature of what we are looking at, there are quite possibly Dominion remnant forces at work. Barbaro, you mentioned that if that was the case, the DCA could become involved. Let's assume that scenario is the worst possibility, but still one that should be potentially countered. If anyone believes that the blockade of the DCA is coming down soon, then that's unfortunate." "Sir," General Tibathian, a hero of not only the Kalahari struggle to rid the south of Africa from Dominion influence, but of the Ulganian effort against the Dominion as a whole spoke. "I believe an operation should occur before Sahndaq is opened to allies. Wales and the Confederacy have already opened themselves to the Kazakhi conflict, for better or for worse. We should take the same routes they did, and land an expeditionary unit to secure some actual territory. We've acknowledged that there are heavily equipped raiding parties that operate across the countryside, but we don't know who they belong to." The meeting went on in this fashion for another hour. Admiral Mustang and General Tibathian left the meeting looking flustered. The chancellor had neither affirmed or denied their suggestions. But, he had also seemed extremely non-committal to anyone's suggestions. All he had actually announced was opening Sahndaq to others. Awaiting the two of them at an elevator, a chancellery escort met them. "I've been ordered to see the two of you to Sir D'Annunzio's office. Entering the office, the two men were surprised to see Dr. Abdullah and Pullserva in the office. "Gentlemen, I believe you all know each other," D'Annunzio said. "That we do. I take it you have a scheme?" Tibathian asked. The chancellor nodded. "Two operations. First, I am sending in several operatives, one being a former Ulganian defector to the Dominion. He will be part of a larger covert contingent of various spec ops officers. Second, I would like you two to put together a more overt force. You seemed confident in getting an expeditionary force together. Make sure it's small, but can get a solid foothold. You don't know what's out there." *** "So what, why me?" Medlow asked. The driver, a personal assistant to D'Annunzio shrugged. "Shortage of manpower. You seemed appropriate given the options." "What, because I had nothing to lose?" "Sounds about right." "That's pretty sick. I like it," Medlow said with a laugh. The driver shrugged. "Anyone ever mention that you talk a lot?" "It's come up, but it's the first time in years I've been able to open my mouth without a rifle butt chipping a tooth. It's quite nice." *** 36 hours later The plane roared through the night sky. This is Cynthia 1. Preparing the first drop. A cargo door opened, and a dozen enormous crates fell into the night. Parachutes opened immediately helping them to the ground. Cynthia 2 is a GO. A second plane opened, and 50 paratroopers dived. Seven more planes dropped personnel, while 3 more dropped in equipment. The first plane was intended to be aid packages. Out of the several larger crates, there were a good number of smaller ones. Of them, one contained Medlow who made an escape before the paratroops were able to consolidate everything. "If I do have any friends in the area," Medlow said out loud thinking no one could hear him, "they'll have heard these guys come in for miles around." OOC: Assume the drop was near Aralsk. IC: Twelve hours after the drop Serpentine Daily Express Sudden Mobilization of Military Confirms Rumors Official statements from the chancellery have made it clear that an Ulganian attack on Kazakhstan is imminent. The statement stated that in the next day, a large force will be dispatched to the region via lawless lands towards the former Nag Eghoeg. The attack will be hitting the southwest of the lands, and will be to flush out various Dominion elements that still exist in the territory, according to the chancellery. "Action will be swift, and I hope over quickly. We are not seeking an occupation, but instead a clean sweep of the area. The country has a legitimate government, and we seek to uphold it," Minister Collins said in a brief interview. "Do not misunderstand though, the country's situation has been in question since the Dominion fell. We are also seeking to fix that." |

-Encrypted Message To the Kazakh Government- "If you need funds to fight your war, we have the funds and the contacts to fight it." - A friend from the International Commercial Bank of Business and Credit ------------------------ The DCA leadership gave a collective wry smile at the thought of a new war brewing up in what was once the heart of the Dominion. With the right influences and guidance, they felt that the DCA could take...advantage...of the situation... They made some calls. The flimsy Ulganian blockade on their eastern coastline would not be enough to keep the heirs of Africa out of this fight. OOC- May not actually have time to get involved, but just know that they have stakes. |

*Thwick puoof* *Clack-click* *Thwick puoof* Hlaine fired one silenced round after another into the paratroopers. One shot, change positions, reload. He'd been lucky enough to be the first response to the Ulganian attack. For now at least, the first and only. He'd only been able to make a couple of shots as the paratroopers descended, but once they'd hit the ground and begun to fan out to secure their equipment it had become easier for him to pick off the strays. Still, all good things must come to an end. It wasn't long before the Ulganians had secured their supplies and noticed half a dozen of their comrades "laying down on the job". Hlaine gave a wry smile as the Ulganians scrambled into defensive positions and turned to slip away, thinking his camo would allow him to leave undetected. A thought that proved mistaken as he walked right into a stranger standing before him. |

Open Message From the Offices of the Supreme Chancellor of Nag Ehgoeg Broadcast on all traditional (pre-Dominion) Nagian Communication Channels. A strange flag makes up the background. The Legitimate Government of Nag Ehgoeg requests that other nations do not violate our national sovereignty and remain outside of our boarders. We are aware of the refugee problem and break down of social coherency on the surface. We are trying to coordinate a relief effort. The continued support of dangerous insurrectionists will be considered an act of war. Any nation wishing to provide humanitarian aid to Nag Ehgoeg should contact the rightful government through the proper channels, which are now open again. Furthermore, Nag Ehgoeg does not recognise ICON on the basis of their recognition of the Kazakh so-called "Democratic" Government. - On behalf of the King, Offices of the Supreme Chancellor Edited by Nag Ehgoeg, Jan 15 2010, 09:18 PM.

Over these same traditional lines, Chancellor D'Annunzio made a reply. Open Statement from the Chancellery The same government that allowed itself to be consumed by the Dominion? The same government that allowed the atrocities to occur? When we see this government and where it stands with our own eyes, we may have a change of heart. Until then Ulgania will act with great prejudice against those who attack it. Further, Ulgania will side with whichever side can prove itself to be the most likely to stable the country in a beneficial way. -Emmanuelle D'Annunzio *** Medlow quickly discovered he was still a creature of instinct. His first reaction to bumping into someone in the middle of nowhere was to throw a punch to the face. It had always been his preference. He had explained to a Nagian Dominion officer once why he did it. "I like to punch first and ask questions later. If you shoot first and ask questions later, they're more likely to hold a grudge against you. If they live, it would be an awkward meeting later on," he said, bringing a finger across his throat. "If I punch'm, they fall down, but they'll be a little more likely to speak up." After he had committed to the blow, he knew a mistake had been made. His fist connected with air, but before he could regain his balance the wind was knocked out of him as a knee came into contact with his chest. Sprawling on the ground, he gasped for air as a dirty boot put some pressure on his throat. "I guess I'm still a little stiff. You got me," he said, painfully turning his neck and spitting out some blood. "What're you gonna do to me now?" he asked, drawing his gun from a simple leather holster in his jacket. "That is, what are you gonna do after you get that boot off my neck?" *** 30 hours later, 0400 hours local time An initial headquarters was established over the course of an hour in an empty southwestern stretch of land in Kazakhstan. Basic defenses were established none-the-less, and a landing area was cleared for larger aircraft. The dry land made for easy clearance, so combat engineers were able to have the physical land safe for landings and takeoffs a little after sunrise. Coordinated runs between Sahndaq and the new forward headquarters only took the remainder of the morning. By early afternoon, the place was bristling with battle-hardened divisions and over a dozen runways. One troop transport could drop off 500 soldiers. In 15 minutes, 12 planes could land, drop off soldiers, and make a return trip to Sahndaq. This allowed for 24,000 battle-ready troops per hour. After 6 hours, divisions from various branches of the military were on the ground. Within another 6 hours, 2 armored divisions were prepared to lead a charge through the land. What disturbed many of the commanders in charge of scouting regiments was simply how quiet things were just beyond the foothills of the initial landing. By nightfall, 30 super-lynx helicopters were prepared to do more in depth land-surveys. It would still be some time before the vanguard could move. OOC: In regards to my treatment of time, just assume the above army is only going to sit still until later on. |

Open Message From the Offices of the Supreme Chancellor of Nag Ehgoeg The Glorious World Military Dominion would have stabilised the entire world had it not been overthrown. If you truly valued stability over sovereignty then you would have sided boldly with the Dominion! Your actions are not "for the good of the people". You merely wish to use military force to topple a foreign government and replace it with one more to your liking. This is blatant imperialism and will not be tolerated. Nag Ehgoeg is a stable nation. The populous, as a whole, are well governed. A small fraction of our population currently live on the surface, where they have formed dangerous military factions such as the subversive "Kazakhstan". This is an internal security matter, and it is being dealt with. The international community has no place in this purely internal dispute. However, seeing as such interest has been generated by these murderous insurrectionists, the Emperor (in his benevolent wisdom) has already extended the invitation for other nations to take in these people as refugees. The deployment of troops in Nag Ehgoeg by foreign powers is a continuation of hostilities against Nag Ehgoeg and will be treated as an act of war.
Hlaine knew his options weren't good. There was no way he could kill this man without being killed in the process. This was a pretty standard prisoners dilemma and his training made it clear there was only one course of action. Slowly, he removed his foot as he worked his hand down to a grenade hanging off his hip. "Now? Now I'm going to walk away. You can go to your people and I'll go to mine and neither of us dies horribly. Or you try your luck and shoot me. So what are you going to do now?" |

Rubbing his chin as he watched the President map out the various positions of both friendly and enemy forces, General Campbell began to see the bigger picture. Some of it he liked as it certainly looked promising, and some of it he disdained as it proved earlier predictions that this was to be an lengthy conflict. When the President was finished, the General took one more good look over the map in silence, with the President just to his right also in silence as he waited for the General's response. The General wore glasses while he looked over the map, a sign of his age and not something he was particularly proud of however, he was not a made that would let weakness defeat him. Finally completing his own assessment he finally turned back to face President. "Well we certainly have a challenge on our hands Mr. President of that I have no doubt. I think overall our biggest concern should be winning both the hearts and the minds of your fractured people. We must show your government as both solid, organized, and strong. Winning over everyone we can to our side, leaving the Dominion and all other enemy forces with fewer and fewer bodies to put into uniforms. At the same time we need to be putting as many men as we can into your own uniforms and arming them with good, reliable weapons. We should also strengthen your ties with the group in Pavlador, show them we're on their side and have them watching East while we turn out attention to the West." General Campbell turned to the map and began pointing. "I'd like to move forces to Zhezkaghan and as fair North as Kostanai. In between I'd like to put as many checkpoints as is humanly possible. It would create a good zone of defense and forces our enemies either into it or around it at which time we'll have them moving where we want verses where they want to go. After all, as I said our biggest concern should be making sure the home from here in Astana is secure so that your government can thrive. I'm going to advise my government to send over weapons, good weapons that your people need. I'll have to talk with my superiors however, before I can promise anything, however I can assure you that more aid such as food supplies, medicines, and other necessities will be coming and I'll make damn sure they have a safe zone of entry." The General looked at his watch and noticed that it was coming in on time to speak with his superiors. He shook hands with the President and then excused himself, promises not to take long and returning promptly with an answer from Atlanta one way or another. This would give President Baimenov a chance to mull over what the General had suggested. Before leaving however, General Campbell was made aware of the Welsh's presence and they failed attempt into the country. --------------------------------------- Leaving the President's compound he was returned back to the outskirts of the city, back to the base camp the Confederate troops had built for themselves. Nothing more at the time than a few rag-tag tents, it was still a well organized living space and at the moment a well-protected one. A satellite video feed, a secure video feed, had been established with Atlanta and it was time for the General to speak with President Montgomery. Saluting his President, the General gave Montgomery a warm greeting from Kazakhstan. "General Campbell" said Montgomery, " I am please to see that the attack has done little to hurt your resolve in this matter. I must say I feared the worst when I got the report." "I lost some very good men" said Campbell, "and I'm determined to see that their sacrifice has some meaning out here sir." "Good to hear General" said the President. "I have already send my regards to the families of those fallen men. We shall ensure they made noble sacrifices, I can assure you of that. Tell me General, how bad is it?" "Well to get straight to the point Mr. President, they got children armed to fight sir. What I've seen of their forces, I cannot say I'm entirely impressed. I will give them this much though sir, they are determined to fight and President Baimenov is certainly acknowledged as their leader. If I take their intel as face value, then we're fighting the Dominion which was expect by our own accounts. They're held up west and south-west, in the strong holds of the old country. If we're going to help these people out sir, they're going to need both our men and our weapons. Although President Baimenov advised against it, I see no other way of securing his government than committing group troops. His men need training and the only way they'll get the best is to watch and work with the best. I'm sure its not what congress will want to hear but its the only way these people are going to survive with our help." President, sitting and nodding while the General gave his report, turned to an aid and gave a hand gesture. Several images popped up on the General's video screen. "The situation has gotten more complicated than just that General" said Montgomery. We've already gotten low-level messages from the Welsh who are obviously concerned. On top of that, the Ulganians released this statement in their local news, promising troops of their own. Perhaps most disturbing is this, a statement from "The Legitimate Government of Nag Ehgoeg" stating that any foreign intervention given to any entity other than their own will be seen as an act of war. I've been in meetings all afternoon trying to sort all this mess out and, to be honesty General its a damn mess if ever I say one. If we act, we start a war and if we don't act, we risk losing what could possibly be the only vestige of true Democracy in the Middle East. Needless to say whatever I do, a group in Congress will not be happy. However, in the end I find we must act or face having our struggle with the Dominion during the Dominion Wars mean nothing. So you have my permission to land the rest of your expeditionary force as well as the aid into the country and begin operations immediately. I'll get you the rest of the forces you need and with God speed." With that the two men saluted and the transmission was ended. General Campbell hopped back into his jeep and sped back towards the President's compound. --------------------------------- After several hours General Campbell had returned and was shown back into President Baimenov's office. The two men shook hands again and the General was shown a seat. President Baimenov was obviously eager to know what President Montgomery had to say, especially after so much had unfolded within the last few hours. "Mr President" said the General, "I have been authorized by my President, upon your government's approval, to begin landing the rest of my expeditionary force as well as the remainder of the aid that we brought with us. We shall distribute it immediately and stretch it as far as we can. I was also told by President Montgomery that the Confederacy is committed, despite recent events, to the struggle of your government. Again, with your permission, we would like to begin the immediate deployment of Confederate troops and weapons, in order to both help train your own forces to better handle themselves against the threats they face as well as work alongside them against a common enemy, the Dominion. With all do respect Mr. President, I ask that you strong consider this offer and accept. The sooner we can begin operations, the sooner the suffering of your people can end..." ------------------------------------------ Back in Atlanta, Montgomery's cabinet was hard at working preparing an emergency meeting of Congress in a joint secession. The President knew a speech on a war would not be popular but he hoped that hatred for the Dominion was still high, thus ensuring a vote in his favor. At the same time, the President had the State Department issue formal, top-level communications with those nations he felt were already heavily involved. These was no reason why everyone should be acting alone. Secured-Encrypted Transmission To: -Supreme Chancellor Emmanuelle D'Annunzio -President: Owain Glyndŵr -Dr. Kosta Viers (ICONMIKA) The Confederate States of America would like to announce its full commitment to a joint mission in Kazakhstan with both the Welsh and Ulganian nations. The free world fought far too far and too long against the World Military Dominion to allow it to resurrect itself again with an old core state at the cost of the destruction of a democratically organized new government. We implore your nations continued support of the Kazakh government and ask that line of communication be established between our three countries during this fight as organization and communication will be keep to our government's success in this endeavor. Also, the Confederacy pledges full military protection to all humanitarian workers flying the ICON flag and will work closes with ICONMIKA to ensure all aid is well distributed and protected. "Never in my wildest dreams did I expect such support. I had assumed that should any come to help us and have their nose bloodied by our enemy they would lose the desire to help us. I accept your support without reservation. This is excellent news, but if you'll excuse me there are pressing affairs that I must see to. News of your commitment must be spread to my Cabinet." Baimenov held out his hand to shake the Generals and, with a smile, gestured for him to leave. General Campbell, was a seasoned military man. He knew that the real work had yet to begin, but he felt that real progress was being made here. He had, perhaps, expected a longer meeting with the President but it was clear that both of them had work to do. That feeling of progress seemed to falter for a moment as he left the Government building. During his brief meeting with the President someone had graffitied the building with a large number "22" in blood red paint. The meaning of the tag might have escaped the General, but vandalism of this government building in the wilderness left him uneasy. |

Secure Encrypted Transmission To: -President Montgomery -President Glyndŵr -Dr. Kosta Viers The Ulganian position will be to negotiate an allied position. For coordination efforts, facilities in Sahndaq are being offered, and we also believe an allied summit on the situation to be an order. We also believe that, given the circumstances, humanitarian efforts be fully protected, but those are issues that we believe should be discussed between all of us. It appears we all support the Kazakh government. Let us not allow for resurgent evils to gain the authority of times past. ************************
“To be honest I’m getting away from that lot. You seem to enjoy killing them. I think we can be friends,” he said, lowering his gun. “Also I don’t really think both of us dying horribly would help either of our goals.” Holstering his gun, he looked around. “Strangely enough, I feel at home around here. Knowing the group behind me, they’ll be fanning out soon,” he said. Looking down for a moment, he looked concerned. “How many shots did you fire? Pick up the shells, or they will be able to track you.” “Who are you?” Hlaine asked as Medlow stooped to grab a shell. “It’s better if we don’t know each other, at least for now.” ***********************
Open Statement from the Ulganian Chancellery Siding with the World Military Dominion, even the spirit of it, is enough for any freedom loving country to have the legitimacy to topple a government. Embracing that legacy is an act of war in and of itself. *********************** General Tibathian landed with a larger escort of fighters. While he was confident about the forward HQ’s security, he knew complacency would kill. After a brief discussion with a few commanders about local security, he received a report of dug in positions about 85 kilometers to the northeast. The terrain was choppy, and not easily navigable. After about a day, it was discovered that a large ring of these entrenched positions, manned by as few people as possible – between 3 and 10 by most estimates – were slowly encroaching on the headquarters. Scout snipers picked off a good number of these groups, but heavier armored patrols were coming under RPG fire within a day or two. From the combatants that were found dead after the first skirmishes, it was quickly determined that they were Dominion. |

Atlanta, The Confederate States of America... Hours after his conversations with General Campbell over a video conference he took in his war room, President Montgomery had his cabinet in full motion, moving towards preparing a speech that Montgomery would give to congress. So close to the holiday season Congress was preparing to leave but Montgomery caught them just before the official leave began and an emergency joint session of congress was called. The whole day the Grey house was hoping with activity as Montgomery and his cabinet brought everything together for his speech. By the end of the day everything that could be done was prepared, and as he was announced to the Congress, the aging President walked in. He held his head high and showed no signs of how old age was effecting him. His back ached, his knees were weak, arthritis was setting in both his hands along with practically every other joint in his body. The Dominion War has taken everything out of the man who began his presidency a youthful and energetic president willing and ready to take on the challenges of the Confederacy. Now in the final year of his presidency, having now been president for an unprecedented 5 terms, he was gearing the Confederate State for yet another conflict with this age old foe. Reaching the podium as fast as he could having made his way through the crowd of handshakes and hugs, he calmed the crowds and ask they be seated. The address was being televised both nationally as well as internationally and the lights were now beaming on the aged President's face. Shuffling his papers and clearing his throat, this great orator of Confederate history began what would undoubtedly be his most testing address to the nation. Posted Image "My fellow Congressmen and fellow Southerners, In considering the State of the Union, I am pleased to say that our nation continues to prosper in this new era of peace that our armed forces and that of the entire free world fought so ferociously to obtain for ourselves and for our children. Our men fought with indescribable and unforgettable gallantry under most difficult conditions, and our Dominion enemies have sustained considerable losses while failing to obtain their objectives, a new world order void of democratic freedoms for which all of us hold dear. It is appropriate at this time to review the basic strategy which guided us through years of war, and which led, eventually, to total victory. The tremendous effort of the first years of the Dominion wars was directed toward the concentration of men and supplies in the various theaters of the American Continent where they could hurt our enemies most. Always—from the very day we were attacked- it was right militarily as well as morally to reject the arguments of those shortsighted people who would have had us throw Europe, the Middle East, and Asia to the Dominion. Such people urged that we fight a purely defensive war against the Dominion keeping our homeland free while allowing the Dominion to dominate all the rest of the world. Instead we pushed forward not only in the defense of our nation but for the liberation of the occupied world. Many battles—essential battles—were fought; many victories—vital victories—were won. But these battles and these victories were fought and won to hold back the attacking enemy, and to put us in positions from which we and our allies could deliver the final, decisive blows. In the beginning our most important military task was to prevent our enemies—the strongest and most violently aggressive powers that ever have threatened civilization—from winning decisive victories. But even while we were conducting defensive, delaying actions, we were looking forward to the time when we could wrest the initiative from our enemies and place our superior resources of men and materials into direct competition with them. It was plain then that the defeat of our enemy would require the massing of overwhelming forces- ground, sea, and air- in positions from which we and our allies could strike directly against the enemy homelands and destroy the Dominion war machines once and for all. Though our victory was achieved, the scares and damages still remain. The war left deep disturbances in the world economy, in our national economy, in many communities, in many families, and in many individuals. It has required determined effort and responsible action of all of us to find our way back to peacetime, and to help others to find their way back to peacetime- a peacetime that holds the values of the past and the promise of the future. However, though our nation and the other nations of the world continue to make strides towards healing from the wounds of the past, a old threat has already begun to rise again. Far from our borders, in lands ancient to the human race a people known as the Kazakhs exist. Subjugated by the overlord government of the former state of Nag Ehgeog, these people have suffered greatly for centuries. Their freedoms suppressed, their culture suppressed, their pursuit of happiness suppressed. They would perhaps still today be suppressed had the tyrannical Nagian government and state not crumbled both from the collapse of Zapht and from nuclear destruction at the end of the Dominion wars. Now the Kazakh people look towards freedom but such a glance in a direction never before allowed to them is costly. Though the Dominion state machine is gone, the country continues to be plague by this old enemy. Hold-outs and other fanatical continue to push across the country like a deadly disease, leaving all resistance dead in their wake. The move to destroy this Kazakh movement, a movement I might add that seeks to build for its people a prosperous and democratic nation, is ruthless and show all the old tactics for which the Dominion was so despised for. Thus I come before Congress and that of the Southern people with a plea of help that this country and many other countries of the world received from the democratically elected government Kazakhstan. They ask only for supplies but I know as we shall know they need much more. Though not the war machine of the past, the Dominion armies that remain there are still a powerful that has the ability to wipe these people from country. Already a new shadow-government Nag Ehgeog has risen and has publicly made clear that it remains firm in its beliefs of Dominion ideology. WE CANNOT ALLOW THIS GOVERNMENT TO RISE AND THUS WAR AGAIN MUST BE WAGED. This war must be waged—it will be waged—with the greatest and most persistent intensity. Everything we are and have is at stake. Everything we are and have will be given. Confederate men, fighting far from home, have already won victories which the world will never forget. They gave not only their sweat and tears but their very blood and souls to ensure that we the people of the world could live free from tyranny and from world Dictatorship that was the Military Dominion. To ignore this new threat from the remnant Dominion forces is to ignore all was sacrificed made and leave all in vain. I have no question of the ultimate victory. I have no question of the cost. Our losses will be heavy as they were in the Dominion Wars. However, though great our loses will be, victory will be achieve for we and our allies will go on fighting together to ultimate total victory. For we attack our problems with determination we shall succeed. And we must succeed. For freedom and peace cannot exist without security. I think we all realize too that there are some people in this Capital City whose task is in large part to stir up dissension, and to magnify normal healthy disagreements so that they appear to be irreconcilable conflicts. But- I think that the over-all record in this respect is eloquent: The Government of the Confederate States of America-all branches of it-have a good record of achievement in war. The Congress, the Executive, and the Judiciary have worked together for the common good. I myself want to tell you, the Members of the Senate and of the House of Representatives, how happy I am in our relationships and friendships. We have a great many problems ahead of us and we must approach them with realism and courage. This new year can be the greatest year of achievement in human history. We can and must see the substantial beginning of world peace. This world peace must be the fulfillment of the promise for which men fought and died in the Dominion Wars. It must be the justification of all the sacrifices that have been made- of all the dreadful misery that this world has endured. However, this peace can only be achieved when the last of our enemy is finally destroyed. When the last of the Dominion flags are brought down and burnt. That is why I ask today that the Congress of the Confederate States of America authorize a full policy of war against all elements existing now and those that may arise in the future, that exhibit the policies and ideologies of the World Military Dominion. For when forces that emulate the Dominion are hostile to free countries and try to turn the development of some countries towards subjugation to these Dominionques states, it becomes not only a problem of the country concerned, but a common problem and concern of all free countries. In closing, We Americans of today, together with our allies, are making history- and I hope it will be better history than ever has been made before. I pray that we may be worthy of the unlimited opportunities that God has given us and that together we can defeat evil where it is found so that only peace, prosperity, and freedom remain. God bless you and God bless the Confederate States of America." The response, a roaring applause that would last for several minutes and the President gave a silent sigh of relief. That was of course the easy part, getting Congress to actually vote in favor of such action was a battle not yet won. --------------------------------------------------------------- Outside the city of Astana... Returning to base camp, the General sent world to the fleet to have the rest of his expeditionary forces brought into the country. However, flying before the V-22 transports were several F-22's covering the same area as the first transport convey had flown. Sure enough they again ran into the same attack as General Campbell had experienced however, this time the Confederates were fighting back. In a bright use of fire power the Confederate F-22's delivered a severe bomb attack against all points of fire and quieted the valley floor below. It was only a temporary fix of course as the General had every belief that the Dominion forces would move in more anti-air machinery but it bought the confederates a window to bring in more troops. As soon as the men were on the ground they were put to work securing the base camp an erecting a more fortified location. Those men not needed for the task were put out in the city of Astana, beginning to hand out supplies as fast as they could a getting a better sense of what was needed by the people. They did this constantly on the guard, not sure who was indeed a friendly and who were in fact enemy agents. Once the two regiments were all on the ground and the rest of the supplies and aid had landed, the General would begin more sweeping patrols both in and around the city limits. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- With news that the other nations were willing to act in unison with the Confederacy on the Kazakh matter, the Confederacy sent word to their representative in Toledo to call a formal meeting between the nations at ICON headquarters. There the nations could discuss their long term goals and commitments to the Kazakh government. OOC: I figured since Kas has that topic open in ICON, we could just use it as a summit location and just link it back here to keep things together if that works with everyone else. "Well, if you haven't noticed before, your country isn't in the best of shape. We just wanted to help. No harm there." OOC: I'm going to assume I originally landed near Priekule. IC: Very well. Our forces will be landing next to Orsk. Expect them within 24 hours. Secured-Encrypted Transmission IC: Secured-Encrypted Transmission To: -Supreme Chancellor Emmanuelle D'Annunzio -President Montgomery -Dr. Kosta Viers (ICONMIKA) The Welsh would be most pleased to help in the final destruction of the Dominion. We were not around to see the atrocities of the original dominion, yet we have heard the stories. We as a country will not allow for it to happen again. Our forces are now engaging the Dominion forces. We have entered through Northern Kazakhstan and will continue based upon intel. Any cooperation between our countries would be helpful. |

-Open Statement to the Kazakh Government- The Democratic Confederacy of Africa hereby declares war upon the illegitimate regime of Kazakhstan for the illegal seizure and occupation of lands belonging to the Dominion of Nag Ehgoeg. - Field Marshal Franz Mintsa, DCA Premier --------- Within hours, blockade runners broke through what flimsy blockade the Ulganians had, and airfcraft already en route to Kazakhstan began landing in Nagian-controlled regions. The larger and slower carrier groups of the DCAN began were already en route and would soon pass the Gibraltar straits into the Mediterranean, and further on to the Black Sea. The DCA had no real interest in the conflict, but if it tweaked the nose of the DCA's enemies, it would be done. Also, it was the perfect opportunity for the Confederate Army of Africa to get some experience in. |

At first cries of "Allahu Akbar!" and "God bless America!" were relegated to those who most needed aid. But as the Confederates continued to give out aid these shouts became a common occurrence - the Confederates being met with applause and cheering where-ever they went. Only a small minority did not come to rejoice when the foreigners passed by. These few were only ever half glanced: seemingly always in shadows and invariably running away from freshly painted graffiti. And the graffiti - the ominous blood red "22" - was always the same. This vandalism, while pervasive, was restricted to government and military positions. ****
"No harm? No harm in sending an armed convoy into a foreign nation? No harm in supporting rebels seeking to overthrow the government? Do you honestly claim ignorance in this matter?" **** OOC: My laptop power cable is busted. Be a week or so before I can reliably get back online. But, you know, Christmas and New Years so... |

With President Montgomery's policies passed in the Confederate Congress, More troops were coming to Kazakhstan. General Campbell was made aware of this, and he was certainly relieved when the news finally made it to him. News the ICON hadquaters in Toledo had also reached the General. This was no longer a solely Confederate operation anymore, it was now a united effort between the Confederacy, the Porcuians, the Welsh, and Alexanderhaven. Already more and more humanitarian workers had been moving into the area from Alexanderhaven and the Confederacy was providing men to keep the aid workers safe. The other nations were slowly moving their forces and would make it into the country before the next wave of Confederate troops made it in. General Campbell for the most part was glad to know that once again one nation would not have to take on the Dominion alone. However, he was uneasy with the news that the Ulganians did not join the Coalition. They weren't exactly an enemy in this fight as they certainly hadn't fired a shot on the Confederates, however their actions did make him and Atlanta wonder as to what exactly their intentions in Kazakhstan was. Nevertheless, their installations in Sahndaq were opened and the confederate fleet that had brought the General and his troops in left open waters for their ports. Their airfields would also make a perfect stop for incoming Confederate troops before moving into Kazakhstan. Moving troops in was of course now the Genera's major concern. There was an airport in Astana, but whether or not is was usable had yet to be assessed. For that reason, the General order a reconnaissance mission to the airport, believed to be abandoned. They were assess whether or not it was abandoned and whether or not it was usable. If it turned out to be usable, the General would then personally assess its defense. If it was a defendable location, then the General would move is temporary base camp to the airfield and make a more permanent ICON command base, raising not only the Confederate flag over the main building but that of all the other ICON nations participating in Kazakhstan. The General was also concerned over the strange 22 markings he kept seeing pop up more and more over government building in Astana. What did they mean and who was making them? Were they a warning against foreign interference or worse, target marks for weapons outside the city? The General just didn't know but he didn't take a chance either, he had patrols who found them spray paint over them and cover them up. Sadly with every one a patrol covered up, two more seemed to pop up hours later. |

OOC: Doing 8 things at once. Will cover Pieter soon. IC: The elements of the DCA navy that were able to penetrate the blockade did so swiftly. However, not all of them were able to get through so deftly. A small flotilla of cruisers and submarines had managed to fan out and overtake a few dozen vessels, shooting them out in the water, or giving them cause to turn back. Naval commanders and admirals knew that those vessels that turned back would only refuel and try again soon, but every delay they managed may have meant one less dead Ulganian in Kazakhstan. *** Aralsk Base, sunrise The encroaching combatants had used the craggy landscape to lob rockets into the forward operating base. There was a hint of trepidation as commanders had seen issues with moving to counter-attack, as many of the rockets had been aimed at specific spots, such as gates or intersections within the base among the depots. Such issues were remedied though, as Gatling guns with armor piercing bullets were quick to saturate areas seen to have any activity. Overhead AWACS had given infrared shots of the encroaching positions. Further, scout snipers that had been sent into the countryside as part of the previous vanguard had taken up positions to find such combatants were instrumental in thwarting much of the rocket fire. Dozens of Ulganians were rendered dead or wounded after the showdown, with relatively uncountable combatants casualties. Hours after, bodies were found, but it appeared that all of the survivors, including wounded had slipped off in the din. Scouts had tracked many of the combatants out, and even found several who had bled to death in the retreat. General Tibathian, by noon, had determined that a counter attack would be an order. He ordered scouts to track the combatants and find any strongholds nearby. When another commander asked if that was wise, he simply stated, "If we're here to take the fight to them, then why the hell are we on the defensive?" |

The ships destroyed by the Ulganians were old trawlers. Soon, DCA ships flanked the Ulganians and had whatever ships dared to enagge them sent out of commission. |

Undoubtedly there would be strongholds in the countryside. Remote military bases would be the very things that would have survived Nag Ehgoeg's devastation - and they would be the perfect staging grounds for Dominion military activity. But to ignore the ruins of Aralsk seemed to be to overlook a goldmine of intelligence. Especially as the city proper seemed to be directly in the line of the Nagian's retreat. The Ulganian scouts sent to the city were rewarded by the sight of the new emblem of the Nagian Dominion plastered over buildings almost as soon as they entered the ruined city. They were also rewarded with trip mines and other booby traps hidden in the rubble - a trick the Ulganian scouts very quickly wised up to but none-the-less presented logistical difficulties in exploring the snipers haven city. Another curiosity of note was the large number of rusted out ships baring the Communist Hammer and Sickle. They seemed to be little, inhabited, fortresses. Fortresses that decidedly did not carry the Dominion Emblem. |

On first inspection, the airport did, indeed, appear to be abandoned. Furthermore, all things considered, it was in pretty good condition. The terminal building was in a state of disrepair - but while it would probably have been condemned in any civilised country, it didn't look like it was about to collapse. The runways (while cluttered with debris) seemed like they would be usable. The main problem would be powering the facilities - and indeed, fuelling the aircraft (the fuelling facilities of the airport being the most damaged). With portable generators and a supply of aircraft fuel, it would certainly do for shipping men and supplies. In regards to defence, lying outside of the city in (relatively) flat terrain, it was not an ideal location. But the layout of the runways around the terminal building meant that a secure perimeter could be established - with a little building work. Deeper probing showed that the airport was, indeed, abandoned. Certainly no-one was living there now. But it seemed like a number of people had been living there not long ago. Even further inspection of the grounds showed small signs (like the wrappings from Confederate aid packages) that a small number of people had been at the airport very recently. This small mystery was added to when dozens of crates of red spray paint were found in the Number 1 Hanger. |
