I've just begun watching Ken Burns' Civil War documentary once again. I believe this is the third time I've watched the series, and I still find myself very much enthralled by it. The events of the Civil War are themselves certainly enthralling enough, but they manner in which they are presented is fantastic. If you have some abiding interest in the Civil War and have not yet had the opportunity to watch this masterpiece, I suggest you do so at the earliest opportunity.

No. It doesn't try to be a story. It's a documentary. Mostly it features pictures taken at the time, battle maps, etc, rather than live action sequences. The narrative is punctuated by quotes from important figures on the events (presented by spectacular voice talent) as well as music of the period.
