I haven't read more than 10% of it. It's about why communism is bad. |

Atticus, you could try not being closeminded, you know? I mean, at the very least, you'll know your enemies better. I've read the Communist Manifesto, libertarian publications, Heinlein novels, anarchist materials, William F. Buckley, Kurt Vonnegut, fascist documents. Stop being an intellectual coward and read some shit.

Read Conscience of a Conservative by Barry Goldwater, that's some good conservative reading. But based on your reaction to TC I get the sense that you might not be conservative, just one of those "anti-liberal" types of half-thought-out political thinkers. |

I would love to use that, but its supposed to be a book of essays, not just a non-fiction book. But I am extremely conservative, its just that the book he suggested had a lot to do with anarchism. But yes, its only been less than a year when I truly became interested in politics, so I'm till trying to expand my knowledge of conservative history and viewpoints. |

Oh, I ended up reading a book called Gang Leader for a Day which my brother had wanted me to read for a few months. After that, for the last few days, I have decided to read a few books that I have been intending to read for some time but put off due to their length and somewhat arcane foci. I am currently reading the first volume of Fernand Braudel's The Mediterranean and the Mediterranean World in the Age of Philip II, after which I will proceed through the second volume. From there I will move on to Peregrine Horden and Nicholas Purcell's more recent study of ecology and history in the Mediterranean region, The Corrupting Sea, and hopefully in the future, they will complete their second volume of that duology. |
