Chuck Taylors

Today I bought my first pair of Converse Chuck Taylor shoes. I'm returning them tomorrow because their soles make an unbearable "popping" sound every time I take a step. Whoever designed these shoes should be shot.

that's trendy dude! Soon everyone's going to want that sound and everyone's going to get those exact type of shoes and... wait...

No, bring him behind the chemical sheds.

Converse are like bell bottoms, they should have gone missing a few generations before coming back. Instead they found their own sub-culture, refused to die, and then somehow made a awkward return to the "trendy" scene. A much less dramatic story than say the bell bottoms.

I believe my last pair wore out in 92 or 93...I forget.

Either the original designer of the shoes, or the basketball player who wore them, I forget.

Anyway, I like 'em, and I like how they look. Just not good for walking around campus. That popping noise is atypical, I think, as mine are quiet.

Does the idea of wearing Chuck Taylor sound at least a little dirty to anyone else?

I have a pair of generic pseudo converse. I just like the converse style of shoes in general because they have a nice white canvas on the toes that I can decorate with art and propaganda.

Basketball player/shoe salesman/evangelist. Quite a resume.

I've modified my stance on Chuck Taylors. From now on I'm only wearing shoes that do not have heels higher than the rest of the feet. (i.e. Chuck Taylor-type shoes if not Converses themselves, flip-flops, sandals, etc.) I read on the interbuttz that these types of shoes are healthier for the feet/joints.
