It's not secession. It just means they're saying "look at the tenth amendment." It's pretty meaningless. |

There are 17 powers enumerated in Article 1, Section 8 of the Constituton. All other powers are religated to the various tates. |

Without an adamantly states' rights conscious Supreme Court, secession may be the only way to assert their rights under the Constitution. At this point, it seems to me it would take a miracle to get us back to what the founding fathers envisioned. |

The treaty referenced doesn't actually exist. As for the right to secede:

Disagreement over what the founding fathers originally envisioned began on September 18 of 1787. |

The difference is that now, one side holds the vast majority of the power in the relationship.

I thought that the right of secession had been eliminated at the end of civil war. Is there an amendment to this? |

Whoever wrote this is brain dead. Not just because that document makes no sense, doesn't work as satire, is written terribly, etc Becuse "Texoarkla" sounds like it was made up by a three year old. |

There is no legal right of secession. The treaty that is referenced in Telosan's post does not exist, as far as I can determine. Texas does not have a legal right to secede from the union, and the rest certainly do not. But I've always seen secession as something similar to rebellion. No one gives it to you. You have to take it. If things get bad enough that you feel the need to tear a nation apart, you don't need a judge to tell you that you're allowed to. That's the way it is and, in my eyes at least, that's the way it should be. Edit: Yep, Quaon. It's ironic because apparently education is a big part of the allure of Texoarkla. Secession is a human right. It is the right of every individual to associate, or not, with whomever they please. No one can rightfully be compelled to stay in a relationship which they do not want to be in. To claim otherwise is to attempt to justify rape and slavery! Unanimous consent is the only ethical basis for human relationship. |

I copied and pasted in from the email. I thought it made no sense either. Almost anything would be a better name, too. Call it Texarkana and make the city of Texarkana the capital. Sounds much better. |

No, the image of a single apathetic clean shaven Texas Ranger is more fitting than Chuck Norris in this context.

I know. But if they actually wanted to do something, this would be their best chance at doing so. |
