Now that I've established my bounds in East Africa and the Red Sea, and now in the waters off of Africa (thanks Kas for pushing me that way, if not indirectly), I want to put together a trade pact for these areas. It's not the Pacific, it's not the Atlantic, and it's not a militant organization. The Mediterranean, Red Sea, and waters of the east coast of Africa would be a free trade zone for members. If you have a country/colony in these areas, feel free to join in. Typically I'd jump right into this, but instead I'm going to try and get an OOC feel for this. If anything I'd like it to make TATO The first initial players I'd like to invite would be Rome, the HCC, Porcu, and even Kasniya if/when it's over its Xenophobia, and everyone in between who isn't listed. Having at least 3 or 4 participants would be great. I plan on getting this off the ground after the Dominion finally ends, but I'd like to get a little discussion going. Has an alliance like this been in place before? |

Venice would be in. The FC sided with France's TATO so Venice is looking for something to counteract it. I was actually going to start it. Venice would also be good for the treaty, masters of the Adriatic and geographicly centered in the Med/Red seas. |

so this would solely be an economic treaty? |

I only mentioned that it was a couple of times  I would be tossing in a non-aggression pact for posterity. Should one member state be in an alliance that goes to war with another member state, they either remain neutral, or face expulsion. I'd hope to further develop diplomatic ties with member states, and SOME DAY make it something more substantial. I'm in no rush to do so though. |

I'd be up for it, as long as it remains solely economic. |

Well economically speaking, Africa had the AEC or African Economic Community. It was here when I first started a lasted a few years after me being here if I remember correctly but somewhere along the way it fell apart. I was never apart of it so I don't remember the details. So yes, something similar to this has been done, albeit perhaps not exactly to this scale. However, AEC was somewhat successful so this sort of organization has promise ^^ The HCC would certainly be interested, as it will need trade to help rebuild. It may even become slightly moderate, but I stress "slightly." Given this includes the Med, the Islamic Republic of Georgia was be interested in such an alliance as well. Even if this did turn into a military thing, IRG doesn't have much in the way of a military so I believe in this case having two nations in one alliance isn't a rule breaker but if someone wishes that I not have two nations then I'll just join with the HCC. |

So, this might start out like a economic treaty, but as time goes on tensions rise with TATO, and this treaty expands and becomes a military alliance to oppose TATO. Does this sound right? |

In a sense. I'd like the diplomatic issues to be kept to a minimum, and more done behind closed doors. If a patchwork of diplomacy can be worked out, then we can have a more open stance on it that involves the treaty as a whole, but I'm playing that by ear. |

France is Mediterranean, and has still yet to be given a reason to hate you. ;) Though, we do dislike the Romans to a good degree.... :gnarkgnark: |

Right. Srolonka's been the hot point for relations on that. You supporting Huesca, Rome supporting us, that sort of thing. |

If the HCC joins, Venice could tolerate it. If the T.O. joins, there's going to be a problem. |

I've been meaning to ask about the tension between the Venetians and the Catholics in Rome. I seem to have missed its roots. |

Porcu's in, naturally. Still making may way through all the threads I have yet to read. I plan on continuing the storyline I started in "The Truth Is Hard To Come By" so look out for an update on that by this weekend. I'm also slowly (really slowly) working on an in-depth analysis of Porcu - her sports, education, politics, a little history, food, business. |

HCC is in Rome and won't leave. Venice doesn't like that. Plus you're working with the TO.

This is all good to know, and it looks like this will create some decent RP in the future. Expect it to start small and expand out to engulf other powers. |
