Today I considered how X-Files was the greatest show ever made and I realized I'm a very nostalgic person. Almost every day I see something that causes me to have nostalgic thoughts. For example, I saw an old Pepsi font and logo (the one that looks like the yin-yang) and that caused me to despise the new Pepsi font and logo (the one that looks like a marble and was introduced just recently). Seeing old logos and fonts always makes me yearn for the good old days.

Also, playing Fallout makes me nostalgic for the 50s and the Eisenhower administration.

So, would you consider yourself nostalgic? Be serious in this thread, as intense but delicate nostalgic feelings and emotions are on the line.

(Just kidding, feel free to ridicule and trample on the nostalgic feelings of myself and others)

I say... very.

My girlfriend lives in Bedfordshire. Walking down the highstreet is like walking down a highstreet from the 1990s. I too miss the Pepsi logo and so forth.

But I don't obsess about things like this.

I'm extremely nostalgic.

I only liked the first few seasons of the X-files though. It got silly after a while, just like Stargate. Why does it happen? I suppose people run out of ideas, or maybe they fired the good writers.

Pretty nostalgic. I've been playing the same two or three pokemon games forever. Steampunk is kinda nostalgia-based I suppose.

Hmm. I don't generally consider myself to be too nostalgic. It probably has to do with the fact that looking back on my life was never really something I enjoyed doing. I'd rather forget the black morass of depression and mediocrity that is my past. As I see it, I carried most of the things worth having into the present with me and leaving almost exclusively things I'd be better of without in the past. I realize this view doesn't define my outlook on nostalgia, but it surely influences it.

I get this feeling too, especially when I think of anything that has to do with Ronald Reagan, even though I wasn't alive.

But growing up in the 50s with the Eisenhower administration would be badass.

You were alive in spirit. Hell, you weren't even born under H.W, were you?

I don't feel particularly historically nostalgic - in my personal life, very much so, however.

I'm not very nostalgic, either personally or historically. Sometimes I miss my grandparents or old friends or my ex-girlfriend, but I tend to look forward, rather than behind.

I wasn't around for the "good old days". I envy you. I'd say I'm nostalgic, regardless. I never liked music, mostly do to my inability to hear it, but I've found that I LOVE 80's music. I listen to my parents and grandparents talk about the past and wish I could be there, back when everything was simpler and cheaper.

Under a dollar for a gallon of gas?!?!?! That happen today the government would confiscate it all for fear of a terrorist plot.

Woodstock in the 70s? Today, that would be an epic clusterf*** beyond imagination.

Permit for everything? From what I deduce from the stories, you could do just about anything without asking the government for permission. When I was 7 my dad got fined because I was operating a lemonadestand equivalent with brownies without a permit.

I was born when Clinton was President. No wonder I hate the kids in my grade. Fucking hippies.

Ridiculous. Can I ask where you live??

...

I'm somewhat Nostalgic... It doesn't run my life, but at times I will think back and miss things. Much more personally then historically.

Not where I live. B) (Of course, people don't wear sunglasses in Cleveland either)

Well actually, it woudn't even shock me here... My younger brother's soccer game (he was like 12) got stopped by the police because a city resident had supposedly reserved the city park that day for a family reunion.

Hehe. My parents told me let it go... I did. Oh how I wish I had called a local media outlet...... I was so close... I can still see the headlines now,
"Tonight at 11, local 12 years olds kicked off the soccer field by police due to some grumpy old people. See what grumpy old people had to say to Channel #'s *name* here at 11."
You think a soccer game is annoying... Wait until those crazy news reporters get in your face. I'm really kicking myself for letting that go.

...

Seriously. Let's say you're an entrepreneuristic 6 year old girl. You WANT someone to bust you for running the stand without a license. Golden opportunity. Absolutely golden. Call the local media outlets... You are SET. No better free marketing if I've ever seen it.

I suppose I'm nostalgic to the point where I actually want to force things back to certain ways.

I miss these things, let's bring them back! Muwahahahahaha!

I never liked Reagan.

They tried to replace the James Shields statue with a Reagan statue in the National Statuary Hall back in 2004. The Irish Senators raised hell, so it didn't happen. Good to see there's still some who remember. Reagan can never compete with truly great men.

Reagan established the doctrines that led to this country's current wrecked economy. Clinton and the Bushes continued those destructive doctrines. I'm not sure where Obama stands.

The lesson to learn is that greed will eventually collapse under its own weight, and such is this country.

Why do you think I'm so socialist? The superrich of this nation are sickening, and for the most part exploit the rest of us.

This is my extremist part talking, but I say kill the lot of them, take their estates and break them down into money, and spread it equally among the people. As much as the superrich make and own, I wouldn't be surprised if the entire population would become millionaires.

The excess and greed in this nation is simply sickening.

Extreme socialist rant over. Hmm. Energy shots must make me more socialist. Or is because I'm supposed to be writing a paper over the subject...

Of course, don't think I actually condone killing people. I'm not so simple.

You are one crazy socialist bitch. For me, not liking Reagan is the equivalent of sucking the devil's dick.

Reagan was the one who lowered the unemployment rate and brought back America into a superpower, especially after Jimmy Carter's socialist agenda ruined America.

Doctrines. Yes, I know, I'm being vague.

You know which ones I'm talking about. Ahhhhhhhhh.

Lay em out, and I'll tell you why they're screwed up.

Then again, you could do that with anything...

Hmm. I came to a realization that I'm going to not keep. E is right and wrong. The state is bad, no matter what, but just as bad is no state. Every system will absolutely have flaws. We try in vain to theorize and set up new systems, but in the end we will only have corruption and suffering in some form or another.

Such is humanity. Such is life.

Sorry, TC, I'm not trying to dodge your question. I'm just not in the type of mind to answer it right now.

Right, paper. Write.

That's pretty fucked up right there. There's plenty of reasons not to like Reagan. Myself, think about it, I have personal reasons. They tried to replace my Greatx4 Granddaddy's statue with his. Of course I'm not going to like him.

Being Irish I can only have one reaction, get drunk and curse about it.

Och, I am messed up tonight.
