You could invade Prussia any time you like.... I started with a nation of 5 million, and when your small you have to fight in other people's wars, you can't start your own because you will be crushed. |

You started a new nation for the Order? Interesting. I hadn't paid attention and assumed that you would have just used your old nation. Edited by Rhadamanthus, Sep 19 2009, 08:08 PM.

 Oh sorry, I got confused since you were talking about Prussia, and then talking about starting with 5 million. I guess those were rather two separate thoughts? Edited by Rhadamanthus, Sep 19 2009, 08:38 PM.

I wouldn't care whatsoever if we got rid of nationstates, but then again that is part of the tradition of the forum. I thought of something funny. If it were forum based, economy could be based off of average posts per day. Problem with that is that you might get some spam wars. Then again, it would encourage activity. |

I wish we could develop some type of more complex system for economy and such. |

I love how we go in circles with regards to the system. As per my usual, I'll just as well ignore the system and merely set up a good story. As Nag loves to remind people, no one can "win" at nationstates. And usually the big players are good enough to lose to small guys when let in on whats going on. |

There's something to this. There are some on the forum who write a war for the story, Kas being a big example. Then some people like TC and Menhad go for the stats (brinkmanship and all that). I try to stay in the middle. That's why with my war (or wars, depending on how you look at it) with Kas always confuse me a little, as I try to get a ballpark estimate of what I'm facing outside of 'enough' or 'not enough' to win  |

TC is your example of someone who goes for the stats? He used to divide his numbers by entire orders of magnitude in order to achieve the right atmosphere for stories. |

I sort of like this idea. I really wish this wasn't my third account. I voted yes, but I like the current system as well. I wouldn't mind seeing them used side-by-side. |

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the lurkiest of them all?

As per my post, over a year ago, in that thread, this has already been tried, and simply does not work. Also, keep in mind that I'm on the lower end of the power scale here, because my nations were dead for more than a year. If I were to make a change to the military system, it would be to make players make a new(ish) OOC nation whenever they make a new IC nation. Edited by Abnar, Sep 20 2009, 02:26 PM.

I've never fully understood the current system. Huesca's idea is easily comprehensible and logical. I voted yes to it. I never stated any numbers to my armies or populations. I've mentioned sizes of armies, but never how many I have. Atticus brings up a point that's bothered me for some time and I have to agree with Sed on feeling noobish even after 1 1/2 years here. NS has exorbitant population levels. If we took into account the trouble the earth has supporting the RL population, our world would've died long ago with the NS population. I barely use NS anymore. I've had my nations set to "vacation mode" for over a year, logging in to keep them alive just because it's a requirment of the forum. Even then my nations die off frequently. Huesca's proposed an equation for military and population. If there was one for the economy, I'd be all for it. Maybe making the 3 equations linked. Military depends on population and economy, the population grows by Huesca's formula, and the economy grows based on several things. If we made an economic formula, we could even factor in bonuses you might get for trading with x number of people, or a bonus for trading with a superpower. Just throwing ideas out and stating my stance. |

Again. This has been tried. RD, do you have a link to the old project forum? I forget what it was called, but let's show these folks how this spirals out of control. |

I'm gonna get lynched for saying this, but it seems like E's Kybelis thing could actually make RM possible. If we could get him in on it, maybe it would finally work? |

The population here is insane, for example IRL, the population is 6,706,993,152, but in Scotland, there is over 12,000,000,000. How can 12 billion people fit in Scotland? I think this would be a good system, especially better than the one we have. The only bad thing would be that people can't have 7 Million+ armies anymore. |

Listen, we tried the CPs, these didn't work. Also, our world isn't logical. Population is low on the un-logical list. When I was small I won a lot of wars, more recently I have lost more and more. I let Al Qalaa nuke a fleet of over 400 ships. The Dominion destroyed Menhad. SO JUST STOP WORRYING ABOUT IT! |
