It was a pretty crap game. Neither impressed me as a champion. We need a real playoff system now more than ever! |

They need to play the game less than six weeks after the season ends. EDIT: Maybe so, Al Araam, but I'm still sick of all the media slurping the SEC all the time, and their fans constantly running their mouths. Edited by Aelius, Jan 11 2011, 10:53 AM.

I would really like to see a playoff system. Determining who gets to play in the championship game essentially by opinion alone always seemed pretty hokey to me. |

field of 68 anyone? Some sort of playoff system would be cool and I do agree that this waiting period for the championship is ridiculous. |

I think a field of 10 with the bottom 4 playing to get into the field of 8. Yhere will still be controversey over the bottom 5 teams, but tough shit. |

-necrothread- Anyone catch that ND-Michigan game today? Or really, any of the biggest games so far this year? TCU-Baylor was particularly crazy. I'm ready for Oklahoma-Florida State next week. Biggest early season game of the year, easily. |

Watched TCU-Baylor while drinking and playing pool. Utah-USC was actually good too. I was expecting USC to completely blow us out of the water, but it was actually damn close. At least one interesting call, but I'm pretty happy with it. It's going to be a good year for us, I think. Also, LSU is #2 and that's what really counts. Oregon can languish in the double digits forever for all I care. |

UM - Domers game was spectacular! Or at least the 4th quarter was! That's over 900 yards in two games against ND by Robinson!! He's an Irish killer. |

That Michigan game was unreal. Simply unreal. I'm hoping this turns into the season of dreams for my Ohio Bobcats... 2-0, Marshall at home then a road-trip to Rutgers. Both tough, but winnable games... If we manage to take the next 2, I see smooth sailing until Week 9 when Temple comes to town. I'm getting ahead of myself, but I get extremely excited at the thought of an 8-0 Ohio playing a good Temple squad in a game televised on ESPN. *Fingers Crossed* |

Apparently people down in Tallahassee are so excited about the game, they've decided to start troll wars. One of my friends has a list of some of their tweets in their column. Apparently "@theghettowizard" got banned, which was followed by an @AustinBoxZombie, obviously trying to make fun of the fact that one of our LBs OD'd a few months back, which also got deleted, and now a bunch of copycats have taken his place, notably one @OKCBomber. When this first started, it was a bit offensive, but now it's so over the top and unoriginal, it's honestly kind of funny. This guy's been engaging in Twitter wars with some of my friends, and I decided to jump in.
This guy is just getting desperate, trying to get under everyone's skin, and it's frustrating him. Troll wars are fun. |

So with the apparent downfall of the BIG 12 looming, it seems the Texans are looking eastward to the ACC. On the one hand this makes me happy because of the Longhorn's prestige in certain circles when it comes to football, I mean it'd be great to see the longhorns battle it out with the Seminoles every year right? Plus the longhorns have a basketball program that can compete with the likes of the Tarheels and Duke. PLUS, there is even talk that maybe, JUST MAYBE, if Texas came they could encourage Kansas to come too. Quite frankly in terms of college basketball, that would be  Then I start to think about the reason why the BIG12 is falling apart and it seems all the arrows are pointed at the longhorns and I wonder what the repercussions of the ACC that I love, would have to pay if they seriously entertained and agree to let the longhorns in. Thoughts? |

Do you REALLY want to have to come all the way out to Austin to see your beloved Tar Heels play a conference game? Honestly, this entire conference swirl is a joke. Many of the Big 12* schools don't fit geographically with any other conference. The only one that makes sense for OU geographically would be a 16-team Big 10, and that's still a hell of a reach. It'd be nice to play Nebraska again every year, though. |

LSU over Mississippi State. Watched the game while downing beers and eating wings. Then down more beers to celebrate. The defenses played a quality game, but in the end LSU's had more stamina. |

Ohio dismantled Marshall 44-7 last night.. Was not expecting that big of a win. If we beat Rutgers convincingly we could be ranked. :o :o :D |

I can deal with Alabama ranked above Boise, but Alabama's ranked THIRD, above an undefeated Stanford team??? LANS SMASH!!!! :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: That game was absolutely terrible. Defense wins championships. Always has, always will. People who bitch about defensive games generally don't have defenses. Stanford's schedule is pretty unimpressive, especially so far. Oregon will actually be a test. I don't see this as being too much of a surprise. Edited by Al Araam, Nov 6 2011, 09:21 PM.

I've got no problem with a defensive game, but a field goal bowl like that was just boring. No offensive execution at all. I have no desire to see a 9-6 national championship game. If it's an LSU-Bama rematch for the title, I'm not going to watch. Edited by Aelius, Nov 6 2011, 10:24 PM.

Wrong. What you saw was phenomenal defensive execution by both teams. I personally found it thrilling. I will say that I would greatly love to see Andrew Luck take on a defense of the caliber of LSU's or Alabama's--and every pro scout is drooling at the possibility. (Oh, and Tristan--there is zero chance of Meyer going to coach at OSU. Trust me on this.) |

Now that's what I want to see. I know LSU can score points, I saw it against Oregon and WVU. I know OSU plays no defense, and they may have trouble just getting past OU, so I really hope Stanford jumps Alabama if they beat Oregon. Now, if LSU's the only undefeated team left (and that includes Boise losing), then I might be able to stomach another LSU-Alabama game (although as an OU alum, I'd much rather see my school try for a national title :P ), but there's a possibility that Arkansas beats LSU and the "BSCS" implodes. I still think there needs to be a playoff. |

Pretty much. To be fair, Paterno probably had to go at this point, and he really should have done more when he found out about what Sandusky did, but he's being made the fall guy for the entire incident, when it really was a systemic problem that no one person really addressed. He's certainly not blameless, and he probably should have just retired immediately, but he wasn't the only one who could have put a stop to this. It's not just his fault, not by a long shot, but the media's up in a frenzy and demanding blood. I mean, like most people, I despise pedophiles--if Sandusky actually did what he's being accused of, I would argue in favor of castration--but it's not like Paterno actually harmed those kids himself. The true tragedy in all of this is that these kids had to suffer like this, but it's still a bit sad to see such a great legacy get dragged through the mud like this. :( |
