And so the great anarchy that is college football has set itself upon us again. I am somewhat rooting for my school's team to do well, but college football causes problems for me. Working at a grocery store in a major college town on a game day causes no end of distress and annoyance. A plague is already set upon my workplace, I am sure, and I have to be there in about a half hour. Ick. |

My favorite time of the sports calendar :) Hoping for an Ohio State vs Florida revenge match in the Nat'l Championship game, match up between Terrelle Pryor (the Black Tim Tebow) vs Tim Tebow (the White Tim Tebow). Ohio State prevails, 42-27. |

Not a big fan of Tebow and the constant media lovefest surrounding him. Even less of a fan of the idiots in red clogging the aisles in my store asking me stupid questions and making it impossible to work. |

Well, with my season tickets to EMU (MAC conference, and enemy of Flumes) I am going to cheer for the little guy. Michigan is going nowhere this year with a 2nd year coach and a true freshman starting at quarterback, so Ann Arbor will just be a crowded place on six saturdays this year, rather than a happy, crowded place! I hate OSU so I would like to see them out of bowl contention! My first live game is tonight, EMU vs Army, so, although not first tier Div. 1, it is still Div. 1 and should be fun! I always like to see the cadets do pushups so maybe it can be a high scoring game! |

Ah TC remember the 2006 championship, and how Ohio State got a touch down on the opening kickoff but got creamed. http://s3.zetaboards.com/nationstates/topic/225267/1/ If it happens (UF vs OS) then Uf will cream them again(35-10), but I highly doubt OS can make it there. Lets go Gators! (We have a pretty easy schedule this year) |

Now that I'm at a team that actually has a proper division I football team, I suppose I have to decide whether I'm going to root for Utah or LSU this year. A bit of both never hurt, I guess. |

The MWC(Mountain West Conference) is the easiest conference of them all, Utah will win it again maybe TCU will give them some hassle but I don't think they will lose to TCU. LSU gonna lose to the Gators big time. |

Thank god (figure of speech ppl ;) ) I'm done having to deal with that. High school football was essentially a religion at my school. The players got all the glory but never could win the big game. With me on cross country and track, we'd have to work our asses off for no recognition or praise. Looking back on it, I'm actually glad it was like that. |

Porcu: In defense of the football players, football(and Basketball) is a much more entertaining than cross country and track(Cross country is the worse sport for spectator, track is better, I did shot-put and discus). My high school was kinda like that, but it was the Acting Kids who got all the attention(And none of the sports did, our cross country team won state every year, so did are track and basketball played in the state final two years in a row) but they sucked(IMO). Yeah my senior year we went 3-7 in football  We weren't that bad, but we where in one of the hardest districts in the state |

I never said that cross country and track are more entertaining. Are football, basketball, hockey, and a load of other sports more entertaining? Absolutely. I was merely pointing out my earlier frustration with the god-like status of specific athletes. And like I said before, looking back on it I kinda liked not being in the spotlight.

Maybe BYU instead. They beat OU somehow. Granted, Bradford got hurt, but still... |

Last year's team would have had the conference in the bag, no questions asked. The team lost some key players though, so I'll have to see a couple more games or actually do a little research before I draw any conclusions. It should be an interesting year for Utah, at least. LSU will almost certainly lose to the Florida, but the Gators are a team that I love to hate. I think I'll probably attempt to follow LSU this season as well. It's always interesting to root for the underdog, and LSU has a very decent program. |

UM looked much better than I thought yesterday, even though they were not exactly playing a powerhouse. If they are learning Rod's program as fast as they appear to be learning it, they could be trouble, because their defense looks awesome! Oh, and to be able to beat OSU would be such a joy! |

As do I. Well I'm sticking with UNC and hoping we may redeem a few inexcusable loses from last year as well as make to a bowl game, any ole bowl game will do  Edited by NRE, Sep 6 2009, 03:27 PM.
