I'm not sure if you guys have been checking this game's progress, but here's a link to a sequence of videos showing how far they've gotten. http://www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20090819_001 Keep in mind it's a work in progress. For an mmo, this game looks pretty damn amazing. They're doing a lot of firsts with this one. I just hope they reduce those gay sparks. |

That'd be cool if a lot of us could on the same server when it's out. |

I've been following this for awhile as well. I'm sure I'll pick it up as soon as it's released, and I think it could be a lot of fun to play with folks on here. Thanks for pointing me towards those videos. Hadn't seen them yet. |

Well then, when it's out we should definitely coordinate on getting on the same server. You guys wanna go Republic or Sith initially? I'm interested in going Bounty Hunter myself (that's what I went in Galaxies, pfft). |

I'd be game for either side. As of now, I'm interested in the Sith Warrior (somewhat unoriginal on my part, lightsabers, force, etc) and the Trooper (seems basic, but interesting). Will we have to pay for it? I'm not getting much information but I'm assuming it'll be a flat fee for the game and then $10-$15 a month to play. If there's a free trial, I'd wait for that before paying for anything. |

Both sides look cool to me. The chances of me paying to play past any free trial are pretty slim though. |

Agreed. I'll probably go sith as its a side that I have yet to really get to play thanks to bioware's policy of always having you support the republic pretty much until the very, very, very end of the game if you made the right (wrong from another perspective) choices. And hell I want to blast the hell out of the republic. Though I need to know more about it before I jump in really. |

Myself, I'm willing to pay monthly for this game. It actually looks worth it. Other MMOs aren't. Keep in mind, this game has more content than all Bioware games combined. One story playthrough is going to be akin to a $50 game, and you get several. Telo, we'll have to pair up as Sith and Bounty Hunter, then as Jedi and Trooper. |

That sounds fun. Strangely, they haven't even completed the Jedi class. I'd've thought that'd be the first to be released. There are *rumors* that Jedi will be NPC only... |

Ha, I doubt that. Who is spreading these rumors? I'm pretty sure the Jedi characters will start out on Tython. |

It was on the website's forums weeks and weeks ago. It was only rumors, and was shot down by pretty much anyone who read it. |

Just saw this. http://www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20090819_001 Now I REALLY want to play the Sith Warrior. The game looks great. My only complaint is how the characters seem cartoon-like and the oversized blasters. I'd pay for it. I have a feeling that it's going to hurt WoW badly. Edited by Telosan, Sep 2 2009, 01:30 AM.

It used to be a lot worse. The lightsabers looked like goddamn beer cans. Now they look like lightsabers. It's almost like they oversized things way too much at first so they could get away with oversizing things somewhat. I like the character and background design though. They have taken a truly artistic approach to the game. There's too many realistic looking games out there, and after a while it all starts to look the same. This'll be different. I hate World of Warcraft. Never played it. Have a copy. Never installed it. My friend got it for me as a birthday present. Why do I hate it? It looks retarded. I'm all about aesthetics and story when it comes to an RPG. WoW has good marks in neither. Oh yeah, Dungeons and Dragons online is going free next week. Yay. Last time I played D&D was 9th grade. Good ol' 2nd edition AD&D. A lot has changed since, but hopefully not enough to bother me so much that I don't play something that's free. |

I started WoW because my cousin was playing it one Easter and made me an account. After a while, he ran out of money to keep playing, but I made online friend (I know, lame) and didn't want to quit. I still play more than I should, and the game remains interesting if you do more stuff than sit in major cities pissing people off. Actually sitting in major cities pissing people off is half the fun.... Dungeons & Dragons online is going free?! No freaking way! Did they say why? The last time I played D&D was...wow, 5 years ago now. I played 3.5. When 4th edition came out, I looked at that, but the changed butchered the game IMO. The core features of the classes were either removed, drasticaly changed, or reduced. Do they have a release date on SWTOR? It seems like a great game, but it'll get on the nerves of people like my brother who like to skip past dialouge, instructions, and lore. |

DDO is still 3.5 edition. SWTOR has no release date. I'd guess sometime next year, but maybe as late as 2011. I don't see them dragging it out more than that. I think they've already worked on it for two years now. |

As would I if I played games on my PC. However, I'm a strictly console gamer. Do tell me how it turns out though as I'd be interested to know nevertheless. |

See I've always had problems with computers, at least the first couple I had so that always detoured me from PC gaming, cause I always felt that it would be my luck that the ole PC couldn't handle it. Plus growing up with consoles going all the way back to the Atari, kinda makes it hard to move away from them  But I have nothing against PC games, its like you said: To each their own. |

Console gaming never really caught on for me. At the time when I first started playing video games, there were crappy, pixilated games on the N64 and much more highly detailed games with a more apparent storyline online. Computer games are generally more numerous, vast, in-depth, and engaging. Computer games also evolve much faster, but take longer to develop. After reading through the site, I think I very well may end up paying for SWTOR. Now I need a way to break this to my WoW buddies... |

I grew up on the old Commodore 128. Then consoles. I just look back and regret how much I spent on consoles and their games. I suppose that's what's turned me off of them, given their and their games expensive nature. PC is good IF you have the money to drop on a high end system AND you are good with computers, so you know how to tweak it. I recently had to fix an inherent problem in my video card (it would crash the whole computer given enough time in a game every time). I'd rather not go into detail. I fixed it, and now this PC is a dream. It does indeed blow away any console in graphics. Always room for improvement though. I need to get a PPU (physics processing unit) to properly process PhysX technology. Hopefully I can someday replace the aging processor as well (intel VIIV). I guess you can spend more money on a PC, but its that graphical superiority and task flexibility that appeals to me. I might get a PS3 someday for Gran Turismo 5. In which case I'd also get Killzone, Killzone 2, and MAG, among other games. Xbox 360 has a 54% failure rate. I refuse to get one mainly out of principle though. Halo 3 and Gears 2 being released exclusively on 360 is a betrayal to the PC community. They aren't getting my money, among millions of other PC users. |

Do you have some sort of cooling pad for the gaming laptop? They always seem to have overheating problems. |
