OOC: Not that it really matters all that much as I doubt it will come up in IC conversations, but as a general rule our forum does not recognize events, nations, regions, and histories outside of the NationStates World Regions (NWR) world that we've created. So though your nation may have a rich history with other nations and regions outside of ours, IC we only acknowledge the history you make with us.

OOC: I suppose, I merely meant to say that we wouldn't recognize it in a in character situation. I mean if his president and my Emperor were to start a conversation and his President began discussing a history on nations that never existed in our Asia, wouldn't that be kind weird? Or have I just assumed the wrong things since for all these years

OOC: I just don't see how its different than what we have normally, where anyone can write any alternate real history they want and there is no guarantee they mesh. And yes, ideally it should not impact the IC RP.

OOC: I suppose your right, just seems like it a point to make once before. Ah well, carry on...I split this so as not to clutter up the place.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the lurkiest of them all?
The non-existent nation could just be one of the assumed obscure states that inhabit the grey areas of the map.

This, or assume that they're some kind of obscure country from the distant past. Considering the way we RP, and the way we take advantage of the fluidity of time, one might assume that there's a supported paradox concerning time:

we have a natural time line, in that we have modern-day technology and culture, and we see NSWR though the lens of our own understanding. We think that 50, or 100 years in the past, should literally mean 50 or 100 years into the real world's past.

on top of that

we have a NSWR time line that has spanned decades. The most specific example I can think of off-hand is Kasniya's plot line concerning the Emperor. At the beginning of the Dominion, he was hardly a child. Now, with the wars still raging he's an adult. All the while, in this time line/plot line, other countries and players may have progressed at a pace akin to the real world.

Personally, the way I see the whole picture is that if someone references something from the real world, it is concerning a country that may have existed in the past, but within the framework of the NSWR time paradox. The only real problem with that though is if that country exists in the same place as another that has been RPed to exist in the distant IRL past.

I have been strict with my timeline, which has more than once led to difficulties either for myself or others. I just assume the events that take place at a different pace are not in real time, just being presented that way. Makes it easier for the noggin.
