Message to North Transvaal: The Ulganian government has absolutely no obligation to your government to ask for consent for operations near your borders. Should those operations have a slim chance of spilling into your borders, then we will take appropriate measures. Should you seek to defend Dominion elements near your borders in this war, while it will be considered fairly and in an unbiased manor, do not count out that your government may be labeled as Dominion conspirators and sympathetic to their cause. While this is only one possible outcome of many, it is one that would create many negative consequences to North Transvaal. This is not a veiled threat. It is only the consequence of a singular outcome of unnecessary involvement in this war. |

Message to Ulgania: You do need our consent, if my country is affected in any way, direct, or indirect, and without the consent of our government, that might be seen as an indirect threat to our national security. North Transvaal will try to remain neutral, and will not take the side of the anti-Dominion, or Dominion movements. We are on our own sides. However, if one of these two sides harm the Armed Republic in any way, the North Transvaal will have to take appropriate measures in securing the nation. This message applies to any and all countries. OOC: Please tell me if I am getting my RP wrong :P . I started RPing only recently. I RP mostly on/in wikis ;) |

The Commonwealth ambassador was applaud at the bluntness of the Transvaal's president. Though not entirely incorrect, to call him on his government's intentions openly and in front of another dignitary was distasteful to say the least. However, he chose not to remark on it and left the meeting to get back to the embassy. His transmission back to her majesty was thorough, and Julianna could not help but send a message to the President. Message to Preisdent Martin van Staden The Commonwealth feels that the government of Transvaal has far to go with dealing in foreign affairs. We must demand that future discussion regard any intentions of the Commonwealth on South Africa be done in private conversations between our two governments and not in more public settings around other dignitaries. Furthermore, the Commonwealth feels no pity for the death of the farmer. Our involvement with Ulgania in Metz was done within the border of Metz. Two events as far as our government is consider share only minimal common bonds, certainly nothing so sufficient as to be seen as an act of war, especially given that the national was within your border. If your government feels left out then the Commonwealth has no problem with including you in future talks so long as the Ulganians agree. However, we refuse to sit down with your government again if it feels that it has a right to start throwing fingers in our direction and blaming us for events we have no control over. -Sacred Queen Juliana dos Santos Aveiro-Medici II __________________________________________________ Commonwealth forces had within a weeks time secured for themselves at least twenty miles of free territory between their border and that of the old lands. It was descent progress for their mostly volunteer army however, the small command staff of the Commonwealth and their Queen believe that could and must do better if they hoped to greatly effect the battle field in this theater. Given the current events between Transvaal and the Commonwealth, solider steered clear of their northern most borders, no matter what the concentration of Dominion soldiers there were. If nothing else they felt that the Dominion would simply become surrounded in that area and surrender if they did not move out and move North with other Dominion soldiers. For the Commonwealth, they were gearing to push Dominion forces back into the former territory of Zolony. It was a ricky move and they would certainly need the shield from Ulgania to pull it off. If successful, Commonwealth forces could "bounce" off the Zolon border and then make a push at east Ziyer and North. For now the battle was going as well as was to be expected. |

Message to the Queen of the Holy Catholic Commonwealth Dear Queen. The sit down was done in the presence of the two governments which were involved in this war. And fingers will be pointed. If my government will be left in the dark, we have to take appropriate measures in dealing with such things. In this regard the only measure we took, was warning your governments. The next may not be so friendly... This meeting was not public, it was held in a secure room with no windows for press to look through. All who were present, was myself, Valentine, your ambassador and a guard. The room was sound proof, due to the fact that I and my government usually have meetings in the particular room. If you feel insecure and don't want to attend meetings between our governments, we can do so using a live video feed. And I will repeat myself, no countries are allowed to execute military operations near, or within my border, without the permission of the Armed Republic's government. I mean come on your highness, how would you feel if we test a nuclear bomb near your borders? Many of your citizens will die. In this regard my citizens were merely unhappy, with one casualty. Please your highness, I would like to see my, your own, and the Ulganian governments cooperate and maintain good relations. Yours Sincerely, President Martin van Staden President of the North Transvaal |

Message to Preisdent Martin van Staden I believe military engagements and nuclear testing are two entirely different things, however I do not intend to argue of over this fact. To show some courtesy in this dark age of the Dominion, the Commonwealth will send word through our ambassador the next time a military engagement is made near or around your borders. That being said, if the Republic wishes to discuss matters pertaining to the Commonwealth intentions in South Africa, we ask that it be done between a Transvaal and Commonwealth dignitaries. Having other representatives present when it is unnecessary is frankly rude. If you wish to know something, you shall ask it in private consul between our two states and our two states alone. We shall not allow other nations to call us out for public explanations to be made to not only your government, but all other government that may be present at the time of a said conference. Again though we do not wish to create hostilities between our two nations, will also not tolerate embarrassments made against us. -Sincerely, Sacred Queen Juliana dos Santos Aveiro-Medici II |

Message to the Queen of the HCC My government did not mean to embarrass you or your government. All we seek is the safety of the Armed Republic, and yes, at the next conference I, or a representitve will speak with someone from your government in private. And thank you for agreeing on letting us know about the next military operations by your government. It will surely make it easier for our two countries to co-exist. Yours sincerely, President Martin van Staden _____________________ Message to (any) Dominion official My government also calls upon you to cooperate. We ask the Dominion to also let us know about any military operations near and around our borders. If we can all just work together, life in Southern Africa will become much more easy, and of course beneficial. Yours sincerely, President Martin van Staden |

OOC: Speeding this bit up just a tad, after all hopefully our attention can turn to the much neglected American front of the Dominion war. IC: The fighting was now into its second month as Commonwealth forces continued to push deep into occupied territory of the Dominion. Officers commanding the troops continued to relay relatively good success to their Ulganian counterparts who were continuing to stop of the flow of Dominion reinforcements Coming from the North. The Commonwealth believed it would reach the Zolon border within the next two weeks, finally into a position of closing the flood gates there and then working themselves North along the Zolon border to completely close off the Kalahari region from Dominion control. Arguments with the Transvaal people did minimal damage to the overall time table of the offensive against the Dominion. They're attempt to bargain with the Dominion had also failed, with the Commonwealth intercepting messages between the two which were less than friendly. Long story short, the Dominion was not the kind of Global Empire which made a habit of working with smaller states. Of course as they days went on into the war, the Global Empire began to shrink. Inch by inch and little by little the lands which the Dominion once called their own were growing gradually smaller, allowing free states such as Northern Transvaal, Ulgania, and the Commonwealth to position themselves into better defensive stance against a reprisal. Just as they suspected, within the two weeks limit they had placed on themselves Commonwealth forces began reaching the Southern tips of the Zolon border. It was a touch fight, with many of the young drafted men and boys of the Commonwealth dying at rates the crown feared would put them out of the war altogether. Still with religious righteousness on their side, more and more signed up to the fight with the Commonwealth shipping them to the front lines as fast as humanly possible. Soon the Commonwealth would be ready to close the gap with Ulganian forces and finally free Southern African from the tyrannical Dominion grip. Edited by NRE, Aug 9 2009, 04:30 PM.

The Commonwealth had been successful in reaching the Zolon border. Now it was Ulgania’s turn to shore up its ‘shield’ for the region. While originally stationed along Zeelari railroads that dissected the space between Zolony and East Ziyer, thousands of units of Mechanized Infantry moved to encroach upon territory that the Commonwealth had softened up. Despite their zealousness to rectify the region and rid it of Dominion influence, the reality of war remained, and while the Third Reserve Army of the Dominion had been pushed back, it still packed a punch in that there were double the number of defenders. It did not matter. Where the Commonwealth pushed, Ulganians came up from behind. To supplant the Commonwealth, the Gungir had been deployed to devastate anything it could reach inside Zolon borders. Out of the two hundred thousand elite troops wreaking havoc in the area, half had been able to slip past several fortresses quickly, virtually undetected, and began to blast away at several badly needed sources of supplies for Dominion soldiers. Not just depots, but crops, cattle, water supplies, they were all laid waste to. The new effort had turned to making Zolony a haven of anti-Dominion sentiment. The edge of fear that Dominion armies once had was gone. With supplies becoming stretched, armies coming from several directions, and the idea of reinforcements laughable there was little to make the people believe that victory was still an option. In East Ziyer, the situation was hardly similar. Fighting in the inhospitable landscape was extreme. Preferring death to a northern invasion, Ulganian forces pushed as hard as they ever had to keep the freshly supplied forces coming in from northern Africa and the Middle East at bay. They needed Zolony to fall, or East Ziyer would become a bloody stalemate. Both sides were motivated, between the loss of the Zanzibar Gun on the Dominion side, and the half-million Ulganian troops that its destruction took all those years ago, the battlefield ripped open the wounds, and fresh blood was let from them. |

OOC: NRE I see you use "Transvaal" and not "North Transvaal", just to clear it up, Transvaal was the government before 1994, Transvaal was renamed to North Transvaal when Martin van Staden took office. :) IC: "What about Ulgania?" Asked the NTDNS (North Transvaal Department of National Security) director to the vice-director as he was looking at the big "Commonwealth agreed" title on the front page of the newspaper. "Well, eh, we haven't heard anything new from them... I don't think they will agree sir." The VC says. "Well dammit they have to! Pull another stunt like Metz in a bigger scale and we will find ourselves in a war! We can't have that!" the director screams. "Yes I know sir, the President is also aware of this, he is on his way down here now." "And what am I supposed to tell him?! 'Sorry sir we failed a very simple task?' 'We are endangering the lives of hundreds of thousands of people?' eh, WHAT?" "I don't know sir, this is out of my hands, the President has been speaking with them, we only advised him on how to." "Yes I am sorry that I am taking this all out on you... I am just a bit stressed." the director says. "Yes sir, we all are, with the new government and stuff things have been hectic." <Loudspeaker>"Director Jackson, director Jackson, the President is here, conference room five minutes."<Loudspeaker> "Sir, the meeting will be done in half an hour." The VC says to the director as he leaves for the door. "Okay thank you, have Patrisha bring me and the President coffee." "Yes sir." Five minutes later, NTDNS conference room "Good afternoon mr. President." the director says just before he notices that the President is in a happy mood. "Hello Jackson! Hows the Wife?!" "Eh.." "Eh? No eh?, its a simple question!" "She is fine sir." "Good to hear son!" "Sir, Ulgania has not agreed yet..." "Yes I know Jackson! But its not the worse." "Eh, sir?" "Stop with your 'eh' son! I brought some rather good news! Weather it is good to you or not, that will be for you to decide!" "Sir?" the director asks with a funny look on his face. "Jackson I came here straight from the Republic Buildings, I met with the cabinet and congress. We discussed the Dominion, now as you know the North Transvaal has been left in the dark for the past few years regarding the Dominion." "Yes sir?" "Well it seems they truly want control of the world, and we are sitting with our fingers up our asses while the Dominion is dominating Africa! We are going to have to join this war sooner or later son!" "Sir, we are neu....." "Yes I know we are neutral son!" The President says. "Sir we cannot enter a conflict while we are neutral." "Cannot? We cannot cannot son! The Dominion is an international supernation, fixed on conquering all lands! We, as a people cannot allow that to happen!" "Sir, I am no expert, but isn't our military too we.." "Don't even dare Jackson! Let I and the Department of Defense worry about that!" "Sir." "Get your stuff together Jackson, we are going to the Republican Buildings to see what the congress had voted." "Yes sir." OOC: This is where I ask for permission to enter the war, and upon that permission the next post will be based |

An hour later in the the meeting room (bigger than the conference room) of the Republican Buildings, Centurion "The President had arrived, the President and director Jackson had arrived." Blubbers the intercom in the meeting room of the Republican Buildings, where the congress, who have voted on to join the war or not, and the cabinet, who advised the congressmen and women on how their individual departments can handle the situation if we were to enter the war. <Door flies open> and the President, followed by the NTDNS director, Benjamin Jackson. They were both greeted by the door by the vice President, Jacob Mbeki. "Have a seat gentlemen, we have a lot of business to cover today. First order of Business, Francois (Minister of Defense, currently also standing in for the minister of safety and security), what are our risks of a rebellion (I haven't covered this with you yet, I will do so in a later thread)?" "Well sir, the Nationalists are getting very aggressive with the idea of us going to war, they think we are endangering more white Boers' lives on purpose, just so we can cripple their numbers. So sir our risk for rebellion is medium to high in the Bloemfontein region." "Ah okay, these nats should really just be exterminated, THEY are the ones endangering lives with their frequent protests and strikes at our municipal offices. Francois please put the Bloemfontein commando (no not those :P , these commandos are reserve soldiers charged on protecting a small population of people, like the National Guard on a smaller scale) on alert." "Yes si..." "I think there is no need for that Mr. President..." Mumbles Jaco Prinsloo, mayor of Bloemfontein. "I don't think it would get to THAT level of danger, to put the commando on alert. "And why do you say so Jaco?" Asks the President. "Mr. President, the nats are on low budget, and just hanging onto 15% support, hell not they are ever going to get to use it! Alerting the commando will just cause panic among the people, I ask you to reconsider." "Okay Jaco, I will think about it, meet me in my office after the meeting. Okay, I think we have had enough of that, next order of Business, will the economy be able to support this? Sippewe (Minister of Finance)?" "Yes sir, we have worked hard to make our economy what it is today. We will however just be able to play a supporting role in this conflict if we are to join. If we go in full out our military's budget would run out before the end of the term." "Okay thank you Sippewe, I have considered only playing a supporting role, but we should first hear what the congress had voted, do we take part, or not? I think that is covered, I never had a skill with numbers. <chuckle>" "Oh before I forget, director Jackson has informed me that Ulgania has not responded to our warnings.." "Sir, I just got of the phone, I spoke to the Ulganian ambassador, Victor Remus. He said the Chancellor will reply once our decision concerning the war has passed through." Screams the President's assistant from the door. "That you Charles. Well then, there is just one more thing to cover in this meeting. Do we join the war or not? Congressman Robertson, will you care to share you and your fellow congressmen's decision with us?" As the President points to a young congressman from the West sitting in the corner. "Eh, yea.. yeah.. YES Mr. President. I.. I will just have to make sure, it will only take me a minute." <congressman counts the votes from a small note in his hand> Six minutes later "Congressman Robertson? Do you have an answer?" The President asks impatiently. "Yes sir. 4-3, in favor of the war." OOC: What now? |

OOC: :shy: My apologies. IC: Commonwealth forces continued to push Dominion lines back into the border of Zolony, hoping to cut off completely and free traffic and movement between the borders of Zolony and East Ziyer. They continued to Move Northward along the Zolony border, Ulganian forces still supporting them with much needed tanks and artillery. Zolon natives were still as zealous as they had been so many generations before. Their backwards beliefs in Gods which did not exist still sickened the hearts and minds of the faith Catholics of the Commonwealth. See many of them die in the service of a equally heretical government as the Dominion, brought even brighter smiles. Weeks into this offensive and the united forces of the Commonwealth and Ulgania were continuing the widen the gap between Zolony and East Ziyer. Each passing day saw the destruction of more bridges and railway lines which began to make each state suffer for supplies. This would go to greatly help the majority Ulganian forces that were fighting at East Ziyer. Still the gap was not completely closed, Commonwealth forces still needed to make it to the northern most parts of the Zolon border. The Flumes border was their target, as reaching it would cut the Zolon border completely off from the Kalahari region and the supply lines that were scattered across it to the East Ziyer. It was there that the Ulganian forces acting as their shield would met up with them, closing off the Northern border offer and concealing Southern Africa from the Dominion's influence. |

As the push into Zolony continues, the Armed Republic is still preparing for what is to come, this will be the first major war the North Transvaal is involved in, apart from the chances of a civil war between its own borders. Its was only 48 hours ago when the President gave his national address, telling the population that they are going to war. But everyone knew that the North Transvaal will just play a supporting role. "So whataya think Thabo?" Asks Prvt. First Class Armandt Janse van Rensburg to Corporal Thabo Issiswe as they prep in the big hanger at Swartkop Air Force Base, north of Centurion. "What do I think about what man?" "The war of course dude! Think we are going to win?" "Armandt, you heard the President, we wouldn't REALLY be fighting, our role is to follow Ulgania and the HCC and 'sweep' up after them, ya know? Kill remaining enemies hiding in houses, help the inhabitants with food and act as a guarding force for more reinforcements to reach the front lines." "Yeah man, but I want to see some action! Killing!" "No, private, you don't." Exclaims Sgt. Trevor Grahm as he walks up to his squad. "I've seen killing, and you don't want to see it, trust me! Now gents, are you all ready? The planes are waiting." "Yeah." Everyone says as they put their bags on their backs and follow the Sgt. to the huge transports waiting on the tarmac. "Okay hold up everyone!" Cries the Sgt. as the entire Company gathers into a group in front of the transport. A rather big man is now standing there in front of the entire B Company. "Men! This might be the first piece of action for many of you, but I guarantee it will not be the last. We are going to Zolony (I can't find Zolony on the map), we will act a supporting role in the war against the Dominion, the President wants to see how things turn out before we go in head first. Now I want you all to follow your CO's and get a position in the planes. We will be flown to a small airstrip just behind the front lines. Gen. (insert name) of the Holy Catholic Commonwealth will greet us there. Dismissed and good-luck!" "Okay guys lets go..." Says the Sgt. as they move inside the plane.... Five hours later "Wake up gents!" Exclaims Trevor. "We are landing!" The six massive transports land one after the other on the small abandoned airstrip in the middle of the African wasteland, you can see clouds of smoke in the distance towards the front line. You can hear the occasional sound of an explosion in the distance, and the roaring on jets high above. The North Transvaal is now in this war, what will be next? |

General Miffritt, one of the commanders in charge of Zolon operations was welcome for the relief. Despite unceasing efforts to obliterate the Dominion, through direct confrontations, to snapping supply lines wherever they could be sought, to causing so much devastation in pro-Dominion areas to cause unrest, there was still the fact that the enemy was extremely large and coordinated. On top of that, the total war efforts of Ulgania and the Commonwealth were beginning to show signs of strain. The Ulganian effort to ensure constant frontline pressure wherever they wanted to apply it was creating material shortages. The former Kingdom of Metz, as well as the Commonwealth lands were being more heavily mined to make up for the shortfalls. For now, the unsustainable war effort was being sustained. Miffritt welcomes the North Transvaalian armies though. His personal Guard units had pulled back to ensure their advance was secure. It was known they were eager, and logistically their forces had fallen under Ulganian support. They were fully networked in. A new surge to Zolony by the North Transvaal armies would surely bring the Dominion to their knees, or so everyone hoped. The remainder of Zolonic campaigns would feasibly fall to North Transvaal, while Commonwealth forces harassed Flumes, and Ulganian forces filled in the gaps. OOC: Zolony appears as South Ziyer on the map of Africa. I think once it finally falls, and East Ziyer is secure, the Kalahari portion of things should conclude. A full assault on Flumes would be a little much for our forces, at least until I can free things up in the Zeelari/Sahndaqi/Morrocon/Sennari front… |

OOC: I am not sure if my type of RP is correct, I like to RP through the mouths of characters. I find telling a story without people speaking very difficult. IC: The North Transvaal armies were doing good, however they were not fully prepared for this. House after house, cave after cave these men found Dominion soldiers hiding, they had the order, "kill'em". This was very traumatic for the new young enlisted men, they had to kill surrendered soldiers, arrest innocent women and teenaged kids. Sgt. Trevor and his men had it the worst, they were the closest to the front lines, found many Dominion soldiers wondering around at places. "Oh my, I wasn't suspecting this." says Prvt. First Class Armandt Janse van Rensburg to his comrade, Cpl. Thabo Issiswe in their barracks that night. "I tried to warn you man, were are to have no mercy." "But these men, they are so young, and not a shot has been fired my way, I do all the shooting, and that is at defenseless soldiers." "Armandt, you had a choice, I came here from prison." "I thought here'd be action." Mumbles the young private. "This IS action man! Now get some sleep, we will be going on a early patrol." Republican Buildings, Centurion, North Transvaal "Mr. President, it seems that we are making good progress." Says Francois Spawn (Minister of Defense, currently standing in for the Minister of Safety and Security) to the President in his office. "Well thats good Francois, eh, you said something about sending reinforcements?" "Yes sir, well I thought it would be good if he made or role in the war a bit larger..." "No Francois we have discussed this, if we even dare play a larger role, there will be a civil war. We can't afford that, our main goal is to get the Dominion off the continent, as cheap, and as fast as humanly possible." "Yes sir, well I advise we send an extra few tanks in anyway. A squad came in contact with a Dominion tank BEHIND the front lines yesterday, their CO got killed." "Okay Francois, do so." It seemed the Holy Catholic Commonwealth and Ulgania were doing good in their advances. The North Transvaal followed close behind, eliminating areas were Dominion soldiers were still suspected to be. However in the North Transvaal, the Nats (National Party, Nationalists) were planning a very different action. OOC: Sorry if my RP's are off story, or very short sometimes, but I like to go in-depth. |

Through ST9, several Gungirs and other agents made themselves available to the North Transvaal government. Having operated in the region for years to that point, it was almost common knowledge that the National Party would probably attempt something akin to an insurrection, but with Africa already on the brink the chancellery sent this communique:

OOC: Yeah, although remember we're not really "invading" Zolony so much as we're simply pushing Dominion forces back into it, out of the open area, and keeping them contained to those lines verses lines that are right on top of our Northern borders. However, all this still seems fine and yes I personally have no intention of invading flumes, again just going to push Dominion troops into it and keep them at that line. Also I too have been busy and lazy so sorry if I seem to take awhile. SW, I rather like your style myself as well so nice work! Myself, I look forward to the RPing of old that I hope to return to once I've helped push all the Dominion plots to their completion. IC: Commonwealth forces were about as relieved as they could be the see North Tranvaal forces coming up to the Zolon lines they had helped first create. Though certainly in need of the relief physically, Commanders and politicians back home worried over a militarily strong North Transvaal and when seeing it in action these worries only deepened. After all Ulgania was already proving itself to be a military power in and of itself, something they helped themselves into when the Hegemony fell and the hole created needed to be filled. Now knowing that North Tranvaal was also very well organized militarily taught the Commonwealth that using military strength alone was no longer an option if they hoped to dictate any policy in Southern Africa. Commonwealth forces continued to push Northward, following the Zolon border and fighting Dominion targets along the way. The strain on supplies and men were great but it was also a great boost for the economy back home as it put millions back to work. It was hoped that by the time the Commonwealth's campaigns against the Dominion were over, the economy of the country would near peaks the people hadn't seen since the height of the Hegemony. This of course was a hope that some analysts discouraged of course as they knew that fighting against the Dominion could go sour at any point. Still with Commonwealth forces reached ever closer the Flumesian borders, the hope remained high. |

OOC: I'm declaring all of my operations as 'ongoing', in that I don't really see a need for a new strategy or for me to keep going. Unless something happens, I'm going to put a hold on my own activity until the war shifts to its next phase. |
