The nation's borders are drawn from the land given to Imperial Germany after the 19th Century Scramble for Africa. Prior to this the land had been inhabited by the Impholi people, nominal subjects to a variety of its more powerful african rival tribes. As such, few remnants of this culture have survived. After the Great War 1914-1918 the country was given the protection of the Third Fench Republic, from which many of the nation's institutions and laws derive (military regimentation, civil service procedures etc.) After the collapse of the imperial system in the years after World War II, the land was incorporated by the Great Powers into the land now known as Che Brisio. This agreement was not met with controversy at first due to consistent pledges to protect the countries separate institutions. However the reforms of the influential Chris Brice caused the cancellation of this agreement with the opposition of most of the country's citizens. This wasn't helped by the actions of many of the Che Brisio army who individually took it upon themselves to commit genocidal acts of the nation's largely white, as opposed to Che Brisio's black population. A bitter civil war followed which lasted for over 20 years with many casualties and the complete destruction of the land that is Syawla. Ivoj Nob, the nation's capital was completely flattened in this conflict. The people, after changing attitudes in the Che Brisio government alongside growing fatigue amongst Che Brisians, gained their independence. A democratic state was quickly established and the nation's first President, Jean-Francois Adams, former bureaucrat for the Syawlan independence movement during the civil war initiated a major rebuilding of the battered country's infrastructure. Adams resigned alongside a great many members of his cabinet however after a growing lack of confidence in his often inconsistent foreign policy. Adams's former Justice Secretary Richie Gerrard, a war hero, claimed the presidency due to electoral success. Gerrard involved the country in the UN initiative against Al-Ittihad. However a left-wing revolution was decreed by General Le Bon of the Syawlan Army and the Syawlan forces were withdrawn from that conflict. Le Bon soon seized power while Gerrard fled into exile in Denizistan where he was soon assassinated. Le Bon gained control over the entire country by ruthlessly suppressing opposition and installed his new authoritarian regime in power. The nation is geographically small and the populous diversely spread due to the chaos of the war years. Despite this its economy is strong with its capital city Ivoj Nob developing greatly with its population of 11,000,000 benefitting greatly from huge subsiding in the previous administration of the automobile manufacturing industry. Basket weaving is another important national trade and this takes place in the smaller, more rural towns of the city. Agriculture is still however the nation's biggest industrial sector with exotic fruit like mangoes and bananas being the most important food exports. Despite the war, the country remains largely and successfully, self-sufficient. The language of the people is predominantly French however large sections of the populace speak English. The national religion is Lutheran with small Roman Catholic strongholds in the Gaulliere-Mont and the southern parts of the Vin-Tim region. These two religions are followed devoutly. The country is divided into the tiny but mountainous Gaulliere-Mont region of the south-west. That is next to the marshy Talley-De-Toille region which spans the central south and south east of the country. The largest region is the Vin-Tim region which dominates the central western and north-western parts of the country. It is in the north-east of this territory, that the nation's capital city Ivoj Nob is to be found. In the central northern area of the country are the flatlands known as the Part-Nousse. Finally there is the largely wooded northeastern area of the country called Florecken region, the only region bearing a German, rather than a French name. |
