Pope Emmanuel IV

Papal Directive Quartuor

A Council shall be convened in Bremen Rathaus, to discuss relations between the Genesian Church and the followers of Cologne. This council, lead by Pope Emmanuel IV, shall be opened to representatives of any nation which contains either faith within its borders.

Religious figures traveling to the Council of Bremen found themselves moving through the streets of Hamburg-Bremen's administrative capital, marveling at the destruction still widely evident. Craters littered the streets, and many buildings were undergoing the final stages of restoration following the Dominion's retreat. Gaunt faces peered out of alleyways, and children swarmed the cars in search of spare change. Hamburg-Bremen was certainly still on the mend, having suffered beneath the crushing weight of Dominion force for the war's final months.

However, rounding a final bend, they were exposed to the astonishingly refurbished Rathaus of Bremen, a beacon of hope within the city and the country at large. Rising imposingly within a ruined courtyard along an unfinished road, it exemplified the ornate beauty of the Genesian church, sharply contrasting with the half-healed city around it. All possible care and haste had gone into the building's reconstruction, and pictures of it were handed out as part of the regime's propaganda campaign to illustrate the nation's resilience.

The visitors would then be shown into the building's council chambers, where the High Chancellor's advisers normally resided during discussions. Filled with simple wooden seats and lit by oil burning lamps, its spartan nature reflected the beliefs of Pope Emmanuel IV, that an era of indulgence was ebbing away at the spiritual masses.

OOC: Post entrances and we'll get started nice and quickly.

Cardinal Marcus Tilius was among the first to arrive. He brought with him one of the two royal heirs to the Papal throne, Prince Thomas dos Santos Aveiro-Medici II. He was the son of Prince Thomas of New Harumf and grandson to King Romulus of New Harumf. Though he had seen much of Africa and Georgia, he had never once stepped foot in Europe. For him this was an important trip as it was a trip that brought him closer to his ancestral home. Not only this but it was time that he met his fellow kin, what little remained of the dos Santos Aveiro-Medici family.

The Cardinal and the Prince were warmly welcomed by the clergy in Bremen as they knew they would be. They had yet to seen any Colognian clerics but weren't going to be overly surprised if none showed up. Both men were eager to meet with the Pope, confess their unwavering support for his holiness as well as discuss matters of the faith in this new day and age.

OOC: While he will bow to the Pope, I have consistently RPed Estharus as a black sheep/exile, but fiercely devout. While he is technically exiled from Ulgania, his ‘connections’ left him essentially in charge of Srolonka, but that actual RP needs to occur as the Dominion falls apart, not after.

IC: Bishop Andreas Estharus, representing Srolonka as its Patriarch through Ulganian-backed titular right, arrived at the Rathaus of Bremen via train. His slow ascent to the council chambers was one of the few signs he ever gave up that his age was beginning to creep up on him, but his mind was strong and his face clear of doubt.

Archbishop Arthur Moore arived with little fanfare. He awaited Pope Emmanuel IV calmly, but did not acknowledge anyone else at the conference .

Cardinal Shonborn of Wien arrive in the city with a guard of 20 imperial soldiers.
He is attended by Bishop of Budapest and many other priestes of the empire.
In next days, he says, also Emperor Philipp IV will arrive in Bremen to look at the council.

A frail, elderly man enters the room from a far door, flanked by two guards clothed in simple linens. He is cloaked majestically, and though of eroded body his eyes convey a fierce, vibrant energy. He wears a white habit and large wooden cross, suspended around a narrow neck with coarse rope.

Taking a seat at the head of the table, he remains as rigid as the wooden chair, back ramrod straight and hands pressed against one another to form a steeple on the table top.

Opening his mouth deliberately with focus shown across his face, he speaks with a voice surprisingly resonant in the sparse setting of the council chambers.

"May God bless this meeting and all those who have come. Let us dispense with pleasantries and address the bad blood beneath the surface of serenity here today. Those of you in attendance of the Colognian faith, air your grievances with the Genesian Church and I, its humble father."

Glancing to his left, he gave a slight nod of approval to Archbishop Moore and Cardinal Tilius as the Colognians prepared to speak. Two men of great faith, and representatives of the Pope's greatest theological allies.

OOC- Uhhh...I kinda just inherited the church. I have no idea about the differences. If someone with knowledge of Cologne's differences would RP for Pope John David I, I'd be eternally grateful.

OOC: sorry I didn't get around to the earlier....
IC:

Earlier that day
Four knight rode through the streets, their massive warhorses where 20 hands tall. The crowds of children scattered, the demonic helmets, inhuman armor and massive mounts kept them in the shadows. As the entered the halls, their armored boots clicked along, while their while fur capes swirled around. Their MP7 where holstered on their sides, along with a large broadsword.

OOC: Then you have some lite reading ahead of you :P

-The Great Schism
-The Papal Bulls of Pope Urban XIII

From what I gather, Cologne has problems with the Genesian Church because we:
-Force conversion of the masses
-Still maintain inquisitions
-Burn heretics at the stake.

There may be more problems and the church may have developed more grievances as it went on but off the top of my head these were the only two things I could think to look for to answer your question.

OOC- Well there is also the problem of me having other stuff on my plate. If it wasn't for that, I'd have done my research and put my own spin on things. And since after I finish my current backlog, I'll be taken a breather from RPing, I don't want this thread to stall on my account. Unless people are willing to wait several months RL for this particular RP to go on, which I seriously doubt.

Dressed in the holy paraments of the order of Saint Stephan, Philipp IV° or HRE arrives in Bremen to partecipate, as observer, to the works of the council.
