Just my opinion. I think Switzerland should be kept open for a Swiss nation to occupy.

Why?

We need a Switzerland. It's nearly unconquerable, making it the perfect site for a nation that can stay neutral no matter what. This is quite unique.

It would indeed be a perfect place to seat ICON, but I'd also love to see someone do some good Swiss RPs.

We already have many Switzerlands-in-spirit. We don't have to have the physical switzerland kept open purely for one.

I suppose Huesca would be an example of that. What would the fun be in constantly staying neutral though?

That being said, I do think that a Swiss city is a good place for ICON but not the entire nation. Bern, Geneva, or Zurich would all act as good sites, IMO.

Can't do that well on a map, though. Besides, its Nag's land, he can donate the whole thing if he wants. Its been done before, when Mindinao was used as HQ for the Asian Union.

Oh, I didn't want to force Nag to give up anything. That was simply my suggestion, nothing more.

Could I put out a suggestion? Toledo? What better in memoriam to X&C?

NS1 Esternarx is quite Swiss in spirit. Heavily armed, tax-haven, neutral as can be. Its just out in the Atlantic rather than up in the Alps.

Menhad is dropping his country, so Iceland is open. Put ICON on an island well away from the rest of Europe.

This was actually my original idea, and may very well be what's done. We'll figure something out in time.

I like the idea of putting ICON on an island. Using Switzerland in game like Switzerland in RL doesn't particularly seem all that original to me anyways.

Which I currently control.

To be honest, I was going to heavily suggest my (eventual) fortress in Mt. Apo on Mindanao for a diplomatic center of some kind.

Or a military stronghold.

Well that was eons ago, back when it was a province of Velorya. By the same token, Hawaii could be done the same way, just because it was once the JAUST peacekeeper base.

Eh.

There's think-tanks in Switzerland that are never going away. Beyond that, between me and the Europe map maker we'll see what happens.

I just thought of this. What happened to the Swiss Papal Guard?

I actually thought about using Toledo that way, especially after hearing why he was kicked out. I really thought it would be a good way to honor him. Since my idea for 'Nubia' failed, there's always Guam too, right? Are there any other always neutral countries for summits?

Sounds like a good idea. I'll suggest it in my treaty draft.

I believe the Swiss Guard were removed to Rome or Genesis before I inherited Switzerland. Nag Ehgoeg took over administration of Switzerland from the Amazonians when the Amazoninians believed that there position in Europe (being opposed to the Pope) was untenable.

But I've always liked to think that the Swiss natives made up a majority of Swiss NE's population - so it's perfectly plausible that the Guard could be refounded.

That'd be great. Modern-day Swiss Guard are no joke, either. They wear body armor under their curaiss, and are very well trained with those halberds. I'm sure they have a few snipers as well.

They actually use SIG weapons, same as the Swiss army, for their non-ceremonial duties, although they're no slouches unarmed. Training for actual defensive duties has gotten a lot more emphasis since the assassination attempt.

(By the way, this is not to mean any offense. I'm a practicing Roman Catholic in real life.)
