OOC: Ok people...I think it's time I finally started something for real. There seems to be some real interest and though not everyone can participate right now I think it'll work out for those individuals as they'll be able to see what's going on before contributing themselves. Things may be confusing at the beginning and, fully expecting this, I'm working to try and ease things for people. If you have a question or comment, please PM me as I do not want to have to delete your post from here. If you are unsure of what to post, though you really cannot go wrong as long as you stay IC, look for what Metz and I do and repeat. I'll say now that this will be slow. Now, about these "confederations". They are based off the RL equivalent Confederations Cup (Americans should have recently heard about this as you reached the finals). These confederations (A, B, C and D) are the same as UEFA, CONCACAF, OFC, CSF, etc. which act as large, regional (in our case semi-regional) associations for the various national football teams. In these individual confederations you get the champions of Europe, UEFA cup winners Spain, or the champions of "Asia" (more specifically the Asian Cup) Iraq. Both these teams participated in the Confederations Cup earlier in June. I was quite unoriginal about naming the confederations and so I'd like to leave that up to you. PLEASE POST SUGGESTIONS, FOR THESE NAMES CAN ALWAYS BE EDITED LATER, HERE. If you'd like to suggest a change in the confederations themselves, having a team moved around for example, please follow the above. The Confederations are as follows: Confederation A:
Confederation B:
Confederation C:
Confederation D:
The setup for the tournaments will be based on a total score aggregate system and will follow like this: 1. The 8 teams in each confederation will be randomly assigned to another team. Each team will play two games against an opponent, one home and one away. The winner will be declared as the team scoring the most total goals (home and away). Example: Team A wins Game #1 (2 - 1) but Team B wins Game #2 (2 - 0), Team B will advance having scored 3 total goals compared to Team A having scored 2. Team B then will be paired against a winner from another group. This will continue until a finalist has been decided. This process determines a winner for each Confederations Championship. 2. Once each Confederation has a crowned winner, those 4 teams will meet for a single elimination tournament to decide the champion among all Confederations. This small tournament is the Confederations Cup. For simplicity's sake I have already determined (random number assignment drawing) who shall host each individual Confederation Championship and the Confederations Cup. In future Confederations Cup and Championship, there will be a more detailed process whereby nations may submit resumes showing how they are best qualified to host the Confederations Cup or Championship. The same will be true for the World Cup and possibly the Olympics. Hosting the Confederation A Championship will be Ireland. Hosting the Confederation B Championship will be Telosan. Hosting the Confederation C Championship will be Catholic Europe. Hosting the Confederation D Championship will be Alexanderhaven. Hosting the Confederations Cup will be the Yvelinais Republic. I just wanted to get everything, or almost everything in case something has slipped my mind, out in the open today. Tomorrow I will post something introductory just to get things moving. Thank you for your time and, hopefully, participation in the future. |

Posted Image *Theme music begins to play, followed by the introductory video clip of the PBC* “Good day everyone! My name is Luigi Barra, beside me is Servius Quinus, and this is the PBC’s Football World…” *Music begins to play again for a few seconds, then Mr. Barra appears* Posted Image “The eyes of the football world are scattered for now across several continents as the championships for the confederations gets underway.” “That’s right, Luigi…” Quinus butts in. “From Telosan to Alexanderhaven, football fans can be sure that exciting games and spectacular plays are just around the corner.” “Let’s begin in Ireland, Servius, where the teams of Confederation A are to begin their quest for the championship. Who strikes out to you? Who have you seen or heard from that really stands out?” “Well I have to say that the host team Ireland definitely looks ready to play. Just by looking at them in practice you really get a sense that they want to do well for their country.” “What about possible surprise teams?” “There is certainly a few to choose from. Porcu hasn’t looked particularly strong as of late, as has Konosha.” “What makes you say that?” “Well, if you look at Porcu for example they are an older team. I think the average age is 30. But it’s not just that. Porcu, for one, is a very experienced team; lots of players have plenty of international games under their belt already. I just don’t know if they can keep up to the younger, more energetic players of Ireland or Eleytheria-Duo.” “So at least for Confederation A it’ll be a battle between speed and experience?” “Youthful exuberance versus veteran experience.” “Alright then, let’s take a look at the pairings for Confederation A which came out earlier today…” Posted Image “What strikes you about those pairings, Servius?” *Chuckling* “It’s going to be a wild ride for the teams and the fans!” “Because the Confederation Championships and the Confederations Cup will determine our first world standings there are no rankings, as of yet. Still you must feel that an “upset” is bound to occur? Where do you see the greatest possibility?” “From what I’ve seen in the practice fields, look for an early Porcuian exit from the tournament. Great New France isn’t in the best of shape, their top forward and defensemen are injured from club injuries, but I expect them to pull off an upset against a Porcu team which, on paper, looks very strong. Also look for Yshurak to advance far.” “Alright then, moving on to the other Confederations we’ll start with Confederation B, hosted by Telosan…” Posted Image “Anything special to note here Servius?” “Not really Luigi. Telosan prepared well for this tournament, though the actual Confederations Cup will be held in Yvelinais, and I expect a full show of support behind the home country. Ulgania and Huesca are thought to be the only other real contenders for the Confederation B title but as you can see they were paired together, first round. Unlucky for them, but great for the fans. Expect plenty of high scoring football from these two teams.” “Here are the following two Confederation pairings...” Posted Image Posted Image “These are going to be great games to watch, Luigi. Yvelinais is hosting the Confederations Cup but they’ve got some work to do before they can even think about the Cup in their home turf.” “Who do you believe has what it takes to win Confederations B and C?” “To be honest, I think all of them have a good shot at the title but if I were to pick just one team for each Confederation I’d have to pick Marslava for B and the Royal Dutch States for D. It really is tough though!” “Oh, I believe it.” Turning his attention back to the camera and the audience Mr. Barra continued. “Coming up on the next segment of Football World we’ll hear from several head coaches about their teams’ chances of reaching the Confederations Cup. We’ll also have a guest appearance from a football legend. You don’t want to miss it…” |

OOC: Leading up to the games this is the sort of thing I was taking about as a news report or team update. Nothing fancy... IC: Cassianus Declares Team Ready To Win Ireland – Head coach Lucius Cassianus said yesterday to reporters during the daily news conference that his players were anxious to begin play. “Our first match against Great New France is the day after tomorrow but the players and I wish it was sooner…We are very confident and anxious to get this Confederation A Championship underway.” Cassianus has recently been targeted as being too careful with the fans, building up their confidence with vague promises of victory only to be disappointed later on. One would expect the highly rated coach to be more honest. The same kind of talk, one of confidence despite criticism from sportscasters foreign and domestic, has been heard from team captain Lucca Crisci. “Those who deride us as too old and too slow will be surprised in our matches against Great New France…I have no doubt about our victory in this tournament.” With the world tournament set to begin in two days time fans will have plenty to pay attention to. Beginning at 9:30AM, Porcuian time, Confederations A, B, C, and D have their first match. Yshurak will take on Çerdonè, USA (LA Section) will play Terrel Fen, Draxis will play New Harumf, while Paradise will meet Alexanderhaven. Then in the afternoon, 3:30PM Porcuian time, the second round of the first games will occur. Porcu will play Great New France, Ulgania will play Huesca, Yvelinais will play Catholic Europe, and Al Qalaa will face Kasnyia. Posted Image ^ Porcuian head coach Lucius Cassianus |

The Confederation Championships are underway with the first round of games being decided earlier. My name is Luigi Barra and with me as always is Servius Quinus. This is Football World…” *Music begins to play again for a few seconds, then Mr. Barra appears* “We were blessed with an exciting day of competition and without further delay here are the match results…” Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image „It was an incredible opening day to the tournament, Luigi!” Servius said. “Our own Porcu struggled early against a tough opponent in Great New France and while Albrecht Sieler was able to find the net in the 77th minute it just wasn’t enough.” “Certainly a tough loss, but how do you see that impacting game 2?” “Well, Lucius Cassianus is no fool and after giving up two quick goals in the 13th and 24th minutes you can be pretty sure he’ll have that defense adjusted well to the strong, aggressive forwards of Great New France.” “One game I particularly enjoyed watching, besides our native Porcu, was the Yvelinais – Catholic Europe match.” “Absolutely! Both teams came out to play and what made it so exciting was that you couldn’t really tell who would come out on top! The goal by Durand [Yvelinais] was a wicked shot from fourteen meters out. Its plays like that that bring in fans and can get an entire nation excited about their chances.” “For those of you who are just joining us, my name is Luigi Barra; this is Servius Quinus, and we are wrapping up an exciting first day of action in the various Confederations Championships. What can the fans look forward to tomorrow, Servius?” “Well Day 2 of every championship is tomorrow and the next set of matches will be played out. Tomorrow we have: CONFEDERATION A: - Russia playing hosts Ireland - Eleytheria-Duo playing Konosha CONFEDERATION B: - Haiti takes on Telosan, hosts of Confederation B Championship - Confederate States of America playing Metz CONFEDERATION C: - Marslava plays against Hamburg-Bremen - The Holy Roman Empire plays the Western Romans CONFEDERATION D: - The Royal Dutch States takes on the World Military Dominion - The Lambda League takes on Assassination Army” “All in all it looks like another fine day in the making…Coming up after the break, we have interviews from players and coaches about the first match day and you won’t believe what some are saying. Plus, extended highlights and commentary from our expanded panel. This and more coming up!” |

OOC: For simplicities sake we will not be having a seperate thread for updates and news reports, so please join in and begin posting things here :) “Metz Sports Report” Kingdom of Metz Soccer Coach Carlos Alberto, a native to South America confronted the doubts of his fans earlier today. He answered many questions from a score prediction to how he and his team were preparing for the match. This is a piece of the fans interview with their coach… Posted Image ^Kingdom of Metz Coach Carlos Alberto “Coach Alberto, do you think you have the proper balance between youthful athleticism and aged experience?” “Yes we do. Although we have younger men on the squad, the leaders of the team have a wealth of experience that is being brought to the table for the young guys to learn from. I think we have the right combination to find immediate success.” “Do you see this team progressing very far?” “Yes, I believe that if we start off strong we will only become harder to defeat as we build more confidence. With that being said, I think that the farther we go, the better we will get with each whistle of a referee.” Posted Image ^A picture of the team during warm-ups “Coach, who are you going to look to in tight situations?” “We have a team. We will play as a team, and will win as a team. The pressure we will face is no single mans job to deal with. Each of these guys knows this and knows that they can rely on the rest of the men on the field to help achieve success as a team.” “Do you have a score prediction coach?” “I will not predict a score, however I can definitely see us progressing past The Confederate States of America. It won’t be easy though.” As you can see, Coach Carlos Alberto already has a very distinguished confidence in his team and is looking forward to the challenges ahead. Some are still having their doubts, however many now have a renewed faith in this teams abilities. This is Adanna Nkosazanna with your Metz Sports Report. Posted Image |

Alfred Solojones, the only handicapped, one-legged, blind coach in confederation cup history, has been fired by New Harumf. Bugsy Boyle, the owner of the New Harumfian club said, "We took a chance with Al, and it didn't work out. I take full blame for this move." Boyle also stated that he should have a new coach selected and in place soon. |

Posted Image *Theme music begins to play, followed by the introductory video clip of the PBC* “Welcome all to the PBC’s Football World, your place for the latest in football action in Porcu and around the world. I’m Luigi Barra and this is Servius Quinus.” *Music begins to play again for a few seconds, then Mr. Barra appears* “What a day in the Confederations Championships, Servius, lots of action, plenty of goals…” “That’s right Luigi!” the second commentator says as the highlights of the day’s games begin to play on screen. “Let’s start with Confederation A, which had the host team Ireland playing against Russia. Both teams were locked until the 65th minute when Irish forward Doyle McLaughlin managed to free himself from a Russian defender and head in a perfect cross from fellow Irishman Gil McGlister. From that point on the Irish defense and goalkeeper came up big to preserve the one – nil victory. Next, viewers saw a powerful and determined Eleytheria-Duo team lay down the law for Konosha, who really looked tired and out of it today. I really was hoping for more from the Konoshans but we’ll have to wait when these teams meet again in two day’s time. Scoring for Eleytheria-Duo was Kevin Woodbury and Hugh Fandook” *The rest of the scores flash on the screen as Mr. Barra comments* Posted ImagePosted Image Posted ImagePosted Image “Plenty of scoring outside of Confederation A, impressive wins checking in by Hamburg-Bremen, Telosan, and the Dutch. Any of those scores surprise you?” “Kinda. Marslava has been the home of legendary footballers but it seems that their days of glory are fading. They looked slow…” “I noticed many of the players didn’t even chase the ball…” “That’s right! Exactly my point! Whether or not those Germans wanted that game more or not doesn’t matter. What matters is that they finished a vast majority of their opportunities, really capitalizing on Marslavan mistakes.” “And the Dutch?” “Well, the Dutch are known to be very skillful ball handlers and it certainly showed here. I mean, hopefully we have a clip or two, there were a couple of times when a Dutch forward outmaneuvered two or three defenders and you cannot expect to win a game, if you’re the Dominion coach, with your team giving up that kind of space. Telosan, on the other hand, was a very focused team. You could tell that the Telosanti head coach really got into his players’ heads and fired them up after the half.” “Yes, Telosan scored two quick goals in the 54th and 63rd minute to take the lead, never looking back after that. Looking ahead to tomorrow, when the second game of the first pairings will be decided, what do you expect?” “I expect our own Porcu to come out strong. New Harumf has already fired their coach and Cassianus can expect a ton of pressure if Porcu makes an early exit from this tournament. The same can be said for Ulgania, who was beaten badly by Huesca, and Kasnyia, whose coach has also come under some criticism for not preparing his team well enough.” “Predictions?” “Porcu will advance with a solid victory [Draws chuckles from Mr. Barra], as will Yshurak. The United States (Los Angeles Section) will move on. The same for Huesca. I do see New Harumf moving on though; don’t ask me why but I just got that feeling! Um…Yvelinais, Alexanderhaven and Kasnyia will all move onto the second round.” “And there you have it. When we return, more commentary, highlights and interviews. This the PBC’s Football World, stay with us…” |

Posted Image Catholic Europe - The mood in the press room following Hamburg-Bremen's game one win over Marslava was surprisingly somber, given the team's stellar performance en route to a 4-0 victory against a perennial European powerhouse. Said coach Fran Boeheim, "The Marslavan team deserves a ton of credit for their preparation, we got a few lucky bounces and solid production out of some of our newer offensive sets. But sloppy, sloppy stuff out there, we can't go up two goals and nearly lose our heads, running around like a bunch of ninnies. We got lucky today, but the boys understand that much more attention to detail, DETAIL, is needed in order to advance into the upper echelons of Confederation Cup play. Anything less is unacceptable." Players were not allowed to comment on the victory, a key stepping stone in the fight to advance during Confederation play. Hamburg-Bremen was the beneficiary of a number of Marslavan defensive breakdowns, as well as a miracle header by right wing Siegfried "Siggy" Helmuth to begin the game. Defensively the squad was not overwhelming, yet an overwhelming advantage in Time of Possession allowed the goalkeeper and defensemen to remain on their toes deep into the game, digging into the pitch for a few crucial stops in the final moments of the first round match-up. |

OOC: Well Done with the posts, thats exactly the kind of stuff we are looking for and need from everyone... IC: METZ SPORTS REPORT Welcome back to the Metz Sports Report... Coach Carlos Alberto was not pleased with the result during his interview after the game, however he did say that he was not disappointed in the performance. "Although a draw is not the best result, it is not a loss. In a way its setting us up for a great game the second time around because all of our players know that they have to win or go home. Many players gave a full effort on the pitch today, however the mental lapses that occured need to be weeded out if we want to find sucess. Luckily, these mistakes did not cause us to lose, however we did not win. Look for us to come out stong again and looking for a win." As you can see, Coach Alberto was short and to the point, obviously a little frustrated with the lack of a result in his teams first match. It is not the opening he was wishing for, however at least the side is not out of competition yet and a win will move them on. In other news, New Harumf's coach Alfred Solojones was fired, causing many to wonder about the timing of such an event, and it will surely lead to the teams downfall within the Confederations Cup. Also, Coach Fran Boehiem emphasized that attention to detail is what will get his team to achieve victory, and noted that his team won due to luck, even though they won by a 4-0 margin. Hopefully their luck will run out if they end up challenging us... Thats our late night Metz Sports Report update, bringing you the newest information available. 'Till next time! Have a great night! |

The New Harumf Confederation Club would like to announce the appointment of a new coach, "Bilnd" Catfish Thomas. Thomas was a top player in Harumfian national play until a hunting accident blinded him in one eye. With no depth perception, his game suffered, and he entered the coaching profession. While coaching the Harumfian League's Red Knights, Thomas had a record of 7 - 4 - 33. He is known for excessive defensive play and being a real task-master of the fundementals. |

"Blind" Catfish Thomas was carried off the field after New Harumf's win to advance them to the next round. Meanwhile, back in New Harumf, celebrations continued late into the night, though there were no arrests made as the crowd remained, for the most part, peaceful. Thomas had the following comments after the double win against Draxis, "We won. Big deal. I just want Davidson to know, if he allows 2 goals ever again in four consecutive halves, he will be playing junior league ball. It was a shameful performance, and our entire defense let us down. We do not allow goals. We shall never allow goals, and I will work this team until they understand the concept of MY game." |

Posted Image Qadsia coach Yunis Khan expresses his disappointment with an official foul ruling. Al Qalaa eliminated in Confederation Championship! Guranburg - Despite an early win against Kasnyia, the Qalaa'i national football team (Qadsia) was defeated 2-0 last night, putting Kasnyia one point ahead in overall score. The game was marked by numerous shots on goal from well into midfield, away from Al Qalaa's vaunted defensive line, and an injury to striker Tabat Rasshid in the first quarter of the game. This elimination comes especially bitterly at the hands of Kasnyia, shattering Qalaa'i hopes to settle the political grudge leftover from the Dominion War. |

Metz soccer coach Carlos Alberto has been given a lot of praise for his recent sucess in moving on in The Confederations Cup. After having been tied at 2, Metz guided and instucted his team to a 4-2 Victory and ending with a 6-4 win. Many are happy with the result, however there are some concers with the stability on the defensive side of the ball. After having given up two goals per game, many people wonder if that goals against average will cut it in the next series... |

Posted Image Kiel, Hamburg and Bremen - Hours after the Hamburg-Bremen national team advanced to the next round of the Confederation Cup, a stellar fireworks display broke out on the waterfront. "We couldn't contain ourselves" said Fire Chief Dunce Williams "Siggy and the squad have made us all so very proud." Seigfried "Siggy" Helmuth, right wing for the national team, remains tied for the lead in points during the Confederation Cup, with three goals and an assist. However, regardless of his statistics he has always been viewed as the emotional leader of the team. Coach Fran Boeheim was full of praise for the budding star as well - "Siggy has been a real winner since day one, when he literally won an intrasquad scrimmage while saving twelve children and three cats from a burning building across the street. Even carrying three toddlers and a cat, he didn't miss a beat." Hamburg-Bremen next advances to face New Harumf in the next round of the Confederation Cup. |

OOC: Great job everyone! IC: Posted Image *Theme music begins to play, followed by the introductory video clip of the PBC* “Welcome to the PBC’s Football World. I’m Luigi Barra and with me as always is Servius Quinus.” *Music begins to play again for a few seconds, then Mr. Barra appears* "The first round is complete and the second round of the Confederation Championships is ready to begin. Incredible matches have been witnessed on the field, just what you'd expect from such a tournament. Tensions arose during the last match day in a couple of games..." "That's right Luigi; looking first what happened after the Lambda League was eliminated we can see a very different atmosphere of the capital of Alexanderhaven, host of the Confederation D Championship, then normal. Seemingly dozens of pirates rampaged through the streets and while the chaos only lasted for a few hours plenty of damage was done. Tensions also flared during the final match between Al Qalaa and Kasnyia, which saw the Kasnyians advance into the second round, as a questionable penalty in the 42nd minute allowed Kasnyia to take the lead. A bit of rough play by the Kasnyian defense directly lead to an injury for striker Tabat Rasshid of Al Qalaa, drawing a furious reaction from the Qalaa'i head coach and bench." "Looking ahead to tomorrow's matches, we find the pairings for the second round: CONFEDERATION A:
CONFEDERATION B:
CONFEDERATION C:
CONFEDERATION D:
What should our viewers look for as the first games in each Confederation are decided..." "Look for solid offensive play from the Dutch and Hamburg-Bremen, especially. Those two teams have an incredible front line with plenty of support in the back-end. I expect Siegfried Helmuth to have a big round against New Harumf. In regards to defense, Porcu is getting better but they will have to find a way to keep up with agile forwards. Eleytheria-Duo advanced pretty easily past Konosha and it was all because of their offensive capability. Porcu's goaltender has been sharp thus far but he can't do everything on his own." “And there you have it. When we return, more commentary, highlights and interviews. News report from New Harumf: Today, NH Nationals coach Blind Catfish Thomas announced the one game suspension of starting mid-fielder Pepe Bartholomew. No official reason was given for the suspension, but sources within the club have reported that during practice yesterday Bartholomew made an obscene gesture at Thomas after Thomas accused him of not hustling during the practice session. Then, according to this particular source, Pepe got behind Thomas, began making "obscene" motions with his hips, then knelt down behind the coach waiting for a team mate to push Thomas backwards. Thomas after the incident was caught by one fan on tape. Here is that recording, "That **bleeping** dick**bleep** son-of-a-**bleep** telling me to **bleep** off; well **bleep** him! I'm gonna **bleeping** **bleep** him is the **bleeping** shower until his ***bleeping** **bleep** is sore, that little monkey's **bleep**." Pepe is considered the backbone of the mid-field and is undisputedly the team's best ball handler. Taking his place in tomorrow's match will be "Weeping" Willie Willowby who may not yet be fully recovered from that killer bacteria infection of his foot he suffered last season. |
