My dad got a ceiling fan for the room I have my computer in. He told me I have to install it. It gets very hot in that room, even though it's open to the rest of the house. Ironically, I happened to just about dislocate my left middle finger, so I don't think I'll be doing any lifting for a while.

[Classic Southern]Lordy, lordy I do declare it is a hot one as just standing here has caused me to get a case of the vapors something awful[/southern]

Its been in the steady 90's here for a month now it seems like. An you know its not the heat that I really mind, its the humidity. I mean when you walk out of your house and hit a wall of hot air with no cool breeze in sight, its just miserable weather. I mean its perfect weather to make the ten-to-twenty minute drive to your choice of the rich man or poor man's beach or the river.

But personally I've got things to do in the yard, Azaleas to re-arrange, Pampas Grass to trim down, weeds to kill, gutters to clean, walls to paint, etc.etc. The "To-Do" list ain't gettin any smaller but the tempt sure enough gettin hotter. Guess I'll just have to sweat it out like the rest of um
This is exactly why I bought a condo. I begin building my basement railroad this week! Indoors. Air copnditioned.

Well as much as I may be inclined to complain, deep down I actually enjoy the manual labor and so long as I don't have to do it for a living I figure I'll continue to enjoy it until my body just can't do it anymore.

An we're going to want pictures of this railroad!

It's been spasmodic in Vermont. It got to like 80 but then dropped to 55 when a storm rolled through

That's kinda like what's its been here. I'm a big fan of just opening windows and letting the air pass through the house. So far this summer my mom hasn't had to turn on the air conditioning much. I do just like storms though...

Temperature in Maui just spiked up to 95 degrees, with a 110% humidity...

You could say I have been over-using the beach as of late and Im glad to see that there are not longer huge swarms of tourists taking up the best spots on the beach. Thank goodness for the bad economy! Whoooo!

Even with the beach, I don't know how you can stand the beach!

...

The iPhone has a basic feature for weather that comes installed on it... You can add cities around the world... I've got Medina (My hometown), Cleveland, Athens (college), New York (came installed), and for kicks, I added Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (Otherwise known as Acies, Flumes!!! )... Anyhow, the rainy/dry season there is almost comical. Right now the 5-day forcast looks like this...
Dry season
Hi-Lo, No clouds all week!
Weds-82-66
Thurs-83-66
Fri-84-66
Sat-84-66
Sun-84-66

When I was in school (rainy season there), it was honestly thunderstorms at 89-92 degrees for two months, no change!

The change of seasons here in Ohio may be what I love most.

And in contrast... My hometown has a range between 55 and 87 this week, of course rain and sun...

Wait, wait. How can you have 110% humidity?? I mean, if you are under water, that's 100% humidity, right?? What gives here.

Because we measure humidity in relative not absolute terms.

100% humidity means there's as much water vapour in the air as there can be.

Over 100% humidity means that there's so much water in the air that some of the vapour is condensing into liquid particles. I'm not entire sure if that's possible outside of lab conditions seeing as once it starts raining vapour condenses and humidity goes down... but 100% humidity is not the same as being underwater.

I was actually being sarcastic, today the humidity was actually at 84% with a majority of the clouds hovering over Haleakala or Iao Valley, none over Kihei as usual...

I think the average humidity, even in the summer, goes around 50%-60>

Thats why most people hit the beach during this time, not to get a great Maui tan, but to prevent heat exhaution so they don't die.
