I want to show how Ireland got to it's current point in the form of war journals. This would include Order knights' participation in the Dominion war, their withdrawal from Syria, a ceasefire being signed between the Order and the Dominion, the annexation of Connacht, and thus the full unification of Ireland. This will result in a gradual shift of power away from the Order over to a centralized government in Dublin, though the High King will grow in power regardless.

I know people don't like to RP when there is already an overall plotline. However, this RP would be unique in the way that it will be done entirely through journal entries of anyone involved in these events. I will write OOC a specific overall plotline, though not too specific, to guide the timeline. I promise not to be a control freak.

If anyone is interested, please state it here. I'm also open to ideas.

After this is done, I'll get on to RPing the unified post-Dominion Ireland on the world stage. But I don't want to rush creativity.

Alright, I'm going to go ahead and make the first post.

This is essentially a setting and plot guide:

Currently, we will be reflecting on the events of the Dominion war in the Syrian theater. While the Order of Saint Patrick makes substantial progress against Catholic Europe, Byzantine Roman forces gradually lose more and more ground to the Dominion. Eventually, Roman forces are pushed back to the Suez Canal, where they hold. Order forces are cut off and forced to evacuate to Ireland via Irish naval forces in the Mediterranean. Keep in mind that the Dominion and Roman navies have been having fierce battles, and likely the Irish navy would have to fight its way through Dominion or Catholic European forces. Paradisian resistance to the Dominion occupation should also be reflected if possible.

This plot segment will end with my final post of the Order signing a ceasefire with the Dominion after threats against Ireland are made. We'll go on to the annexation of Connacht at that.

Anyone is free to participate. You are free to take any point of view in the theater or relating to the theater. Feel free to post any major benchmarks (such as the Dominion capture of Damascus). Just try to keep it progressing in a logical manner. Don't feel a need to wait for me.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let the writing begin. ^^

EDIT: Also, bear with me on the dates. I'll be starting on April 26, 2034, my 45th birthday, the capture of Antioch. If you don't like that, feel free to post the year in your journal as 20XX.

EDIT 2: Thread is here: http://s3.zetaboards.com/nationstates/topic/7224260/1/

EDIT 3: Also, if you need ideas for Roman and Order forces, go to The Empire of the Romans thread and scroll down to overview the forces of the different Roman jurisdictions. Consider all Brotherhood of Saint Siadhail forces to be Order of Saint Patrick forces.

I really like this idea, but I'm unclear who we're supposed to be writing Journals for. Can you clarify a little? (I realise it's probably perfectly clear to everyone else - please bear with me.)

Currently, much of the forum is lock in war with the Dominion, which would have included myself until recently.

Currently, my only nation in the forum is Ireland, fully unified and set after the fall of the Dominion.

I came up with the War Journals idea to explain what happened between these two points in time.

Right now, I'm focusing on the Roman War that was basically skipped over.

My order of knights makes significant progress against Catholic Europe, who recently launched surprise attacks against the Roman Empire. However, Roman forces on the Syrian-Paradisian front are gradually pushed back by Dominion forces. Eventually, they will hold at the Suez Canal, stopping the Dominion advance there. This cuts off support to my knights, who decide the only course of action is to pull out altogether after the Dominion threatens Ireland itself. Naval battles happen throughout this entire timeline.

You could write a journal from any point-of-view, but mainly I'm looking for my knights, Roman, Paradisian, and Dominion points-of-view.

Ah, now I understand.

Sounds interesting, I'd love to chime in with the view of a Dominion military officer and/or a Catholic European peasant.

Feel free. The more, the merrier.

EDIT: Oh, and to be completely clear:

You are free to make up any of your own material. If you want to make a record of a battle, do it. Whatever progress the Dominion makes or the knights make is driven by the writers themselves.

It just needs to stay within an overall continuity. Once we reach the cutoff point (Order's peace treaty with the Dominion), a new set of journals will begin.

I was thinking it might be a good idea to rename the started set of journals "War Journals - The Roman War" or "War Journals - The Syrian Front", and move it to the Middle East: War and Negotiation thread.

After this there would be two other sets of journals: one in Europe, and one in Africa. The European journals will have to do with Irish affairs in Europe, while the African journals will have to with the Order of Saint Patrick's covert elimination of the Ordo Inane. I'm sure we can figure out ways to involve more people in those, as right now those two subjects are a bit narrow.

I'll see if I can put a word in edgewise, from a Paradisian POV, unless there are any objections.

Alright, I've moved War Journals to the Middle East.

http://s3.zetaboards.com/nationstates/topic/7230456/1/

It's called War Journals - The Syrian Front.

I changed the European War Journals to War Journals - Irish Troubles. We'll start on those after the Syrian one.

Or, if people want to get right to it for a wider range of stories, I suppose I could do a post to start things off.

New change. The threads are now War Journals - The Middle East and War Journals - Europe. I will make War Journals - Africa in time, unless someone else wants to start them.

Recent discussions have lead to plot change.

Overall plot:

The Irish knights press forward against Catholic Europe. Romans get pushed back by Dominion. Knights are cut off and forced to redeploy to Africa and Europe to continue the fight against the Dominion. There is no peace until the end of the Dominion war.

This plot allows for much more flexibility and continuity. Feel free to post whatever you want!

EDIT: And guys, I promise this is the last change. I've settled on this plot.

I suppose people lost interest in this with what's been going on lately. You guys are free to use the thread in Europe and the Middle East for whatever your needs.

I was waiting for a little bit more exposition in the Middle East thread, just to figure out what's going on.

I guess I could do some more posts to get the ball rolling.

Basic plot is as put in Post #10.

But feel free to post as you wish. It doesn't actually have to have anything to do with my plot. You can start your own plots so long as they start out taking place during the Dominion war in the appropriate region.
