I think it's important to have names that can be abbreviated. Abbreviations and adhoc prounications of them give flavour to sporting events. 1. The Soccer Coalition League 2. The Union of World Football Associations (UWFA - ew-W-fə) Cup 3. The ICON Premier League* 4. The Striker Cup 5. The Contender Cup 6. The League Torch Edited by Nag Ehgoeg, Jul 1 2009, 08:31 AM.

As a former baseball player, I really hate the name "Cup" for any athletic event, which you "football" fans won't really get the bue Yanks will, especially Menhad. Why can't we name these "cups" after people, like the "Lord Stanley Cup" in Hockey, or the "Lombardi Trophy" in Football?? Why not the "Geoghegan Cup" after that famous singer of old, Or the "Sanctos Cup" after a royal family that might have supported sports?? Gives a more Nations States feel to things! |

The trophies for football events typically is a cup though... And I'm all for naming the events after historical characters... but the Geoghegan Cup should be the last place prize for the international spelling bee, or maybe the equivalent of a Grammy, not a name for a football league. |

As a soccer/football player myself, I would much rather stick to the traditional way of the sport in naming things as a "cup". That doesnt mean it wont be done...thats just my opinion-and the majority will most likely be naming everything. I'm glad to get some feedback on this though :) |

I could see, and wouldn't mind, corporate sponsored trophies and championships for club play (if there even is enough support for that). For international play, however, I'm like Metz and would rather keep things traditional in that sense. I second Metz's proposed names. Of course we can name these trophies, cups, etc. whatever we want but besides just being a pain in the ass Metz and I are trying to get people involved in this RP and the process behind it. A way you could incorporate "The Amish Cheese and Olive Canape Cup" might be through a rivalry game of sorts. "Paul Bunyan Axe" or "The Little Brown Jug" if you're familiar with Big Ten American football. |
