Agreeing with Ulgania that we need less heavy dialogue, I wan't y'alls help in my naming of my bike. She has gone nameless for too long, and I'm going to the bike store later today to trick it out, so now is a good time for a recreation.

Spoiler: click to toggle

As it stands right now, this bike is my only means of transportation (I'm working on getting my permit), and I've put easily hundreds of miles into this baby-- before graduation, it was five miles to school in the morning, five miles back in the afternoon. She definitely deserves a good strong title by now.

The two ideas I have kicking around my head right now are Rakhsh (the horse of Shahnameh hero Rostam) and Widowmaker (for hilarity's sake). Any other ideas?

Epona - Too many Nintendo geeks would giggle, methinks. Not really the message I'm lookin for.

Jolly Green Giant
- Good thought process, averaged-sized bike.

The Vomit Comet - not before 11pm, sir.

I think that Birry Dee deserves at least a nomination.

Sleipnir, the 8 legged horse Loki gave birth to.

Birry Dee may be my favorite so far

TC and i discussed this topic of bicycle names. He suggested: Il-khanate, The Golden Horde, The White Huns, The Timurid Empire, The Chagatai Khanate.

Ulg: Norse mythology isn't my favorite, sorry to say.

Rhad: lolwut

Paradise: /smartass. :D

TC: Of those, I think The White Hun would be most appropriate, seein' as how the others are either plural or imply plurality.

Turns out that my bike needs about $175 worth of maintenance -- I had really worn it to the ground. We've got until Wednesday to think of a name.

The collective nouns were the point of his suggestions, I believe.

TC suggested the following other sequences of names: "William Tecumseh Sherman, Howling Georgia, Jubal Early, P.G.T. Beauregard, Chancellorsville, Monitor "

Another suggestion from TC: "Apartheid"

He seems to rather like the concept of naming a bike.

A lot of those tickled my fancy, actually. Howling Georgia was a good one, and so was Beauregard, but of the ones TC suggested, Monitor was the most interesting. Of course, I'm a Hampton Roads native, so I'd rather go with Virginia.

Is Howling Georgia a reference to something? I couldn't find it on a quick google.

Well, my usual pattern for anthropomorphizing stuff is female Spanish names, but that's usually musical instruments. My guitar (which is the only instrument I can't play) is Rosalita, etc.

IRL, I'm not at all a violent person, so I'd rather a more... feminine persona for my bike. Widowmaker is the exception.

Widowmaker = Badass.

Yeah, I really like "Widowmaker." It is an appropriate name for quite a few things

Another suggestion: "The Black Baron," which was a nickname given to Baron Pyotr Nikolayevich Wrangel. Though it would work better if your bike was black perhaps.
