1. I deposited a check today into an ATM. It was a hand-written check. This new machine just wanted me to stick the check in, and I didn't need an envelope, deposit slip, or even to type in the amount. It scanned the check and told me the hand-written amount on the check. Technology has now become truly amazing. 2. I recieved a banana cake from a friend. I don't eat sweets, so I brought it to work and set in on the kitchen counter, no note, no message. Within an hour it was gone. Now, I have one of "those" minds, and realized not one soul knew where this cake came from, or why it was there, yet everyone dug in - what a great way to poison an entire office! Anyone, feel free to use this idea in a roleplay. |

I'm telling you, office people are like a new breed of humanity. It doesn't matter what it is, whose it is, or where it came from....if its edible they eat it. |

Very cool! How good was the hand-writing on the check? Would this be harder to do with sloppier handwriting? (my checks aren't the neatest, for example ) |

This particular check was pretty neat, so I'm not as impressed, however, I got a check from my mother, 90 years old, who cannot write very well, and it picked it up too! You can even throw in a stack of up to 25 checks and it will scan them all!! This technology is really cool. |

1. Huh. My bank has me fill in a deposit slip then chuck in the checks (up to five at once). It reads off the amount and checks the payee (me) is correct by reading the handwriting, but it still wants a deposit slip so it knows to pay into my bank account. I'm guessing your machine reads this info off your bank card? Or does it read your name off the check and find the account holder with that name registered with the bank? If it's the latter I'm impressed and a little scared. If it's the former... well then you're not just putting in hand written checks are you! 2. Wow. Now if someone leaves food in a hospital staff room, you'd best believe that it'll get eaten (unless there's a hands off note on it). But we Brits do at least try to find out who donated the food and give them a "thank you". |

Well, I swipe the card, so they know where to post it, but then I just stick in the checks, no deposit slip, no envelopes! This really does astound me. Then, on the recept they print an image of the deposited check(s). |

Yeah I get a printed receipt as well. Still it's cool that you only need to swipe the card. As far as I know every British bank still needs a deposit slip. |
