I just want to say I've had a great time here. Almost five years with some of the most wonderful people! But I am in a situation where I feel it would be best if I leave the forum. To lay rest any speculation I would do confirm that the Dominion RP is the cause of my departure. I simply don't jive with it and I don't jive with a forum that contains it, even in the archives. What's troubling to me is the fact many people believe all the problems with the Dominion was due to RPers' fault, whether lack of compromise or lack of activity. I can say positively it's not true in the least. I can assure there were many, many OOC transgressions for many, many years that sapped one's will to RP. It's no coincidence that E-D and AA quit the forum not as idle RPers but as active participants in the Dominion. All the bad blood with the Dominion was never a coincidence or statistical fluke. I think I feel what Patrua felt, alienated in that Sistan managed to pull a great trick on the forum and convinced the forum that the new way is in and that the forum has moved on. Finally I feel out of place. However I don't want to draw further comparisons between me and Patrua as Patrua was technically wrong in his particular dispute  , even if he was right about Sistan, and also because Patrua was a player of much greater gravity and RP erudition than myself. I've finally realized the Dominion was always a book, and never an RP. They are two different genres, and a book no matter how long or short, even an abridged book is not an RP. This realization has finally liberated me. (And should liberate my free time so I can use the time to study for all the schoolwork I've neglected  ) However I have done what I feel needed to be done, including apologize to Kasnyia and wrap up unfinished OOC business. I respect that Kasnyia is writing a book, and I wish him well. I would take this opportunity to confess to my great love for NH. Not in the gay way! Haha psych! But just that I have the greatest respect and affection for this "old man". I think you are awesome, and a genuinely kind person. In my life I'd be lucky and grateful to have just half your wisdom and experiences. But none of the ones involving gay encounters  Edited by Tristan da Cunha, Jun 18 2009, 11:06 PM.

That's regrettable to hear. It's too bad something couldn't be worked out. I hope you consider coming back after the war, though I suppose you don't mean to. I am inclined to both agree and disagree with you when you say the Dominion is a book and not an RP. I have seen many people coerced into going along with its story, but in my own experience this was never so. In all my dealings with the Dominion, I was never once forced to do a thing. I have only ever RP'ed as either a supporter or opponent of the Dominion, though this was always somewhat passive. I would have taken a more active role had the story not been forced along, or had I had the time in the last few months. I must apologize for my inaction, because I believe had I been more active in all this, perhaps the Dominion would be looked at as an RP rather than a story. I'm sorry if anything I've said influenced your decision to leave, TC. You are a valued and respected member of this forum, and it's sad to see you go. |

As much as I'd like to, I'm not going to try and convince you otherwise. Though I would have loved to partake in an RP with you (your writing is brilliant btw) I fully respect your decision and wish you the best. Do drop by from time to time though...I've become very much used to your intelligent discussions here in the Off-Topic  |

I can agree with you TC, and I myself have gotten heated over this Dominion story. I feel that people wanted a world war, and Kas tried to deliver, but I don't think World Wars belong here, they require to much to be fun and more often than not fall apart. I do beg you to consider returning after the end of the Dominion related stuff, not for me (I'll be gone) but for the Forum's sake. It needs older members like you to guide the beginners and to keep interest in it. Edited by Menhad, Jun 18 2009, 12:03 AM.

TC, yesterday we spoke of possible compromise on this -- and you mentioned the possibility of staying. What changed your mind? If you read this, contact me on MSN sometime. I'd like to think I knew you better than I ever had the chance to do, but alas it appears I may not have that opportunity. I wish you a heartfelt farewell. |

TC, I must say I am not surprised that the Dominion RP is finally claiming victims, however I am surprised that you have been one of them. Personally I dont beleive you should be leaving, I honestly love your Off-Topic opinions and your RP's are really first-rate. Though I have just recently come back to the forums, its impressive for someone to have already remake that impression on me. If you have to leave, the only thing I can say is, farewell and get-some. Totally agree with you on the 'book' thing. Been saying it for weeks, now. But do not leave when the light is at the end of the tunnel! We are nearly free of this tyrannical mess! We may purge its memory and create a brave new world where never again we shall be forced to suffer such "epic" roleplaying. |

Don't do it! I wasn't around to see TC start RPing again! I wanna see some more fireworks! Please? Well, if you do go, TC, you seem like a really good guy, a rare consensus among all of the different members I IM. Look me up, because I hear you're a cool cat. |

First, I must say, these are the kindest words anyone has ever said about me. I've nothing but respect for you, TC, in the way you have conducted yourself, and in the way you defend a point! As to comparing yourself to Patrua - hell, in many ways you are much better than he ever was, most importantly, because I have thought of you as a friend. I wish you would hang on a while until we can get back to real RP, but I'm not near enough to you to pound you into a stump and make you stay. You had best stay in touch (wepandded@yahoo.com), and if you are ever traveling, you know you can always stop in and say "hi"! It would give me a chance to get you drunk and take advantage of you!  Oh, and you really need to get over your homophobia - but not so much that you think all gay guys are like me - they aren't! I am a conservative, remember that. Please, please keep us updated on your where-a-bouts. I truly think of you as a good friend - one of only a handfull that I or anyone can ever have in their lives. |

I am really ashamed TC . We never really interacted in this game, but I have always liked your rp, some of your opinions, your erudition and your kindness . I am of your same opinion about this Dominion story, but I must say that players like you are necessary for the rp of this forum . During my stay here I have seen the major players all pratically leaving the forum ( Yshurak, Nag and Scy ) and feel that there is nothing now except the Dominion . It must cease and I think that we need good and inventive player like you to make fresh restart . This summarizes my position over this matter  |

Seriously, tht was some of the best stuff I have read in a long long time... It will be sad to see you go as I know I could have learnt much from you, however that time has been cut short. Please do check back in with us from time to time, however enjoy your new found time and do well with your schoolwork :) I also wish you would stick around to join "The Revival has come" and talk about the Christian Coptic Church I beleieve it was...I was trully interested... TC, I remember when you left before. I was fairly crushed; you were my favorite RPer here by far, even if we did and still do vastly disagree on all matters beyond the fictional. I modeled my writing style on yours for a long time. It was vastly inferior of course. You are a truly exceptional writer, and I hope that you someday take advantage of this aptitude outside of the confines of this forum; I would truly love to pick up a book written by you. I think this departure will be far more permanent than the last, and I wish you well in all your endeavors....unless of course you choose to run for some office, in which case I might have to flee the country. Now, of course, I don't RP here anymore, so this doesn't affect me closely, and I can't properly be said to be "present" on the forum, but a goodbye is in order all the same. So long, and thanks for all the fish. |

Oh it's not the first time he's quit. I have every faith that he'll return and grace us with his presence once more. 'Course I changed his password so he'll have file a lost password request... but I doubt that'll stop him. This current... unpleasantness notwithstanding TC is easily one of the best - and hopefully it won't be too long before he's charming us once more with his fanciful tales and wonderful world view. |
