Okay guys, so I got this message the other day from one of my buddies in Washington, that the boys over in the Pentagon were actually considering replacing the ACU. I was intrigued, so I decided to go look it up to see if it was true, I seldom found one article that said the ACU was being replaced. So I asked my buddy if he was just blowing hot air up my ass, and he said that they were thinking about using this stuff called MultiCam, I knew what the stuff was because I saw some Green Berets fielding the stuff in Afghanistan. After some more research I found that the MultiCam was actually beaten by the ACU, beaten. Now before ya guys start jumpin' on me with all of your technical stuff, I know all about the technical details of the ACU. Its hard to pick up on NVG's, we have these nifty little FOF (Friend or foe) identification tabs on our shoulders, and Velcrow to make our lives easier when putting on patches and such. Now these technical affixations are wonderful, but the camo, lets just say it could have gotten me killed. Anyways, after I found out about the MultiCam and how it was beaten, I told my friend he was full of crap in which he replied that the camo of the MultiCam was replacing the color format and everything else on the uniform would be left alone. Now from my short time in the military I have figured out a few things about the Army. One, the ACU looks "cool" and is a good recruiting tool and two, the ACU is cheap which is probably why the MultiCam lost.

So I made a poll for you guys, you think the ACU should be replaced or kept? Oh yeah, heres a comparison of the two. IMO the ACU does look "better", but the MultiCam actually blends into stuff thats just my opinion though, I'll let you guys debate it.

I chose option 2, because I feel as though there's a hidden choice in there that would turn our armed forces into ninjas.

Also, if you look at the fatigues versus what's often available for domestic consumption (usually bought by hunters) these are already very good looking. I actually like the new one though

Hmm I don't know what's going on here but I think the second picture you posted looks better than the first picture. The color in the first picture looks flesh-colored which is odd.

I chose to replace. I honestly have always hated the look of the ACU, and it is made of some weak material. Barbed wire rips very easily though it, gashed my leg. BDUs were always hardier. The ACU is considerably more comfortable, though.

I like the look of this MultiCam camo better, and if it's going to better hide our soldiers, then bloody change it already, even if that's all that's being changed.

Well it does blend in far more considerably than the ACU, has all the velcrow do-dads that I like (though a lot of people hate them), and is very comfortable. Though I have to disagree about the material, I remember plenty of times dashing for cover and not once did my ACU's tear. The only time when I had them rip was when a piece of shrapnel went into my back leg.

They hand out Purple Hearts for less, I don't see why he didn't get one.

In all serious, I don't really feel either way about the issue. Both have played their roles, but its probably best we move on and put ACU on the sidelines.

Yeah I recieved a Purple Heart, but like ED said, you can get them fairly easily. Had a friend who had a rock hit him in the hand when an explosion went off, he wasnt really hurt but I guess the medical report made it look extensive so he got one.

ACU does the job. Does the job and does it cheap.

MultiCam can go hang.

My father knew someone who got a purple heart in Korea for getting the clap!!

I knew an ex-navy drag queen that got a distinguished service medal for dating a French dignitary (that was before "don't ask, don't tell").

I could imagine that actually happening after Don't Ask Don't Tell

Except the CO basically saying "Wow, that's just impressive. I'm not even mad!"

Except for the showering part... That might be a bit complicated since the women have open stalls... Special exemption status I guess, thats still gross as hell though.

Actually, he served aboard-ship as a man (this was like, 1971), but just went on leave in port in drag! Looked damn good in drag, too. Totally passable!
