OOC- I did too, but I'm trying to get a move on, so that I can juggle the next elephant on my shoulder. :( IC- "They are not responding." "We will continue until they do, in that case." "What of the 6th Army?" "They are busy occupying nearly all of the Scandanavian peninsula, and what territories the Porcuians have, they would not want to surrender it to the 6th Army, I'm sure..." OOC- Short post. |

The Arsenal Building of the Kremlin, Russia... Posted Image Generals stood huddled around large tables with maps of Europe. Like a game of chess, pieces representing the movement of both allied and enemy troops were being moved around. For the most part the Empire was having to play the defender as blitzkrieg tactics by the Dominion had kept the Empire from moving on the offensive against their forces, especially those forces in Scandinavia. However, the glorious victory in Iberia and the collapse of Catholic Europe's dictatorship was now changing the situation as was apparent with the changing of locations on the map. Now the Dominion was having the focus their power in the Balkans and Asia Minor which was stretching their power in Europe. This was the opportunity the Empire need and they were ready to exploit it. Russian General's decided it was time to cut the Dominion forces in Scandinavia off from the rest of Europe. By doing so they could crush the Dominion against the Baltic and Kasnyian forces against Porcu. At the same time they knew it was time to begin marching west and fulfilling their promise to Konoshia. They had been fighting hard against the Dominion in Germany and other parts of the Polish region along their border. With help from the Empire, the two forces could met up in Poland and try to push against the Dominion southward as it would possible be the only way of pushing the Dominion out of Europe. Forces along the Empire began to slowly build up until finally a push was made against the Dominion. Though catching Dominion forces around eastern border off guard, it would take three weeks before they were within miles of the Yshurak border. Time for the Dominion was ticking short, and the Russian Empire was now on the move to complete its part in the greater war. |

On the western side of the Oder The IXth Army has stood idle for months watching the Konoshian consolidation over the other bank of the Oder . This contrasted with the fast aggression and victory over Germany and the generals couldn't explain the last choices of general Zivkovic. He was a Marslavan and so anything could be expected, thought the multinational officers of the Army . They were right : a conjuration was being done in Prague and for this the IXth Army had to remain intact in order to create the greatest number of problems to the Dominion . A map showed the position of the enemy armies : on the Oder there were one milion Konoshians on defensive position, then there was the Coalition Fleet dominating the Baltic, the small Marslavan forces in Poland, and finally there were the Russian forces which were dangerously approaching to the Dominion forces . At the right moment, when all would start, he would cause the implosion of the Dominion front and probably cause its defeat . Over the ten Army Corps which formed the IXth Army, thought the general, three were Marslavan, three were Moravian and the last ones were Kasnyan, Nagian or of other ethnies . The Moravians could easely be sent home, but not the Kasnyans who would stay there until the end . But again the general had come out with a solution for this problem ... |

OOC: Not sure where you want us to move. I say that because my above post has me moving against Dominion forces in Scandinavia...I'll keep it going though  :P IC: Along the Border with Yshurak... It had taken several weeks but Russian forces were now seriously harassing Dominion forces along the border of Yshurak. The involvement of the Empire in this area had greatly decreased the amount of supplies now moving in from the Middle East and into Scandinavia. This would of course hurt Dominion forces in the greater future as now they would not be able to pump in the great amount of supplies they had previously been doing but for the moment it hardly effected their performance. Russian forces were mounting the best offensive that they could but Commanders on the ground were finding it hard to break through the border and get into the heart land of Yshurak. Aerial support was doing its best to contest for air supremacy but it was a fight they were far from winning. Dominion air cover was thick but the Russians believe that with supplies cut the way they were, that lasting against the enemy was all that they truly had to do and that time would do the rest for them. Helping them last against the beast in Scandinavia was of course their control in the Baltic. Given Dominion presence there was lite compared to other nations, the Russians had a fair advantage. Naval operations were already going well along the coast of mainland Europe, helping the Konoshians against the Dominion presence along their border. A second fleet was finally brought in to begin harassing coastline encampments and other major targets that could be bit from the coast. This of course was still a challenge given the Dominion's current air supremacy in the area but even against those odds the Russians were seeing some success. If they could finally break the border and get into Scandinavia it would certainly prove invaluable to the entire war effort in Europe. ---------------------------------------- Along the western border with Russia... Russian forces along the border with the Polish region now began to seriously harass and begin offensive pushes against the Dominion forces in that region. Word was sent to the Konoshians that the Empire was finally moving into the region at what pace they could. Dominion forces were getting thick in the area and the Russians weren't completely convinced they would be making any great leaps into the heart of the area anytime soon. Still with the Konoshians fighting on their own front Russian commanders felt that it would certainly begin putting the Dominion in odd situations around the region. |

OOC- Didn't remember the push. Whoops. :shy: IC- Volehr was furious. Having just been denied reinforcements from Zapht, spread thin across Europe, and now having to deal with the resurgeant and strategically located Russia, the Field Marshal now suddenly had his hands full trying to counter the recent Russian advance that threatened to cut off the 6th Army in Scandanavia. With his own army busy with peacekeepig duties in Asia Minor, he couldn't assist personally, and so he ordered the 8th and 9th Armies to concentrate their fire on Russia, ignoring the relatively unimportant Konoshians, while keeping them from making any moves themselves against Dominion lands. He would also have the 6th Army push from the north. It would be a gamble, but Volehr would not allow the Russians unrestricted movement, a mistake made while moving his forces to secure the collapsed realms of the Caesar. |

OOC: Im still kinda stuck here... Being surronded by the Dominion and all, so dont expect any major movements by me. IC News that the Russians were getting closer to the beseiged Konosha lifted the spirits among many of the troops fighting in the trenches. The war had been raging for months now, and many men were weary from combat but still held firm to the constant Dominion onslaught. A nation-wide conscription had also gone into effect, putting guns into the hands of anyone who was able. Artillery and bomb's contiuned to plummet on the other side of the Konoshian trenches, turning much of the surronding area around Konosha into complete wastes. This did not stop the juggernaught Dominion though, despite huge losses, they were like locust and it seemed as if they were impossible to halt. Something needed to be done quickly to reach the Russian's, or Konosha might bleed dry. |

OOC : I bet that it's my turn IC : Despite the orders goven by the Command, Konosha was too big to be left back during the push against the Russian Empire . It has so to be annihilated by a total offensive before focusing against the Russians, beating the two forces separately . It was a very risky plan as the IXth and the VIIIth Armies would have only few weeks to execute it successfully, or they would encounter annihilation . The offensive against Konosha soons tarted and two milions men launched themselves from the Oder and from the south aagainst the enemy lines . Both sides has a huge fire power as thousands of cannons were shaking the land with their activity, while masses of men ran against the enemy . On the south the attack was concentrated on the center of the enemy dispositive . The plain ground allowed the armoured brigades and the FT-10 tanks to maonuver quite easely and there the attack was immediately successful . Losses were huge but still the fast columns, regardessly to who confronted them, were too fast and could easely outmanouver the enemy . There a Konoshan Army could be easely surrounded and annihilated after few hours of fighting . In the Oder it was quite different, the nature of the ground and the concentration of artilleries rendered very hard the first phases of an offensive . However a huge aerial strike distracted the Konoshans while the Engineers built hastily ten bridges on the river . Again two milions of men attacked against the enemy, but if the first line ceded, the second held against the enemy efforts and nothign could be done to dislodge the Konoshans from there as the space of manouver was very limited . Now the success of the campaign entirely dipended over the efforts made in the southern front, but the campaign would transform itself into a stalemate unless something was done . |

OOC: Doing several things at once here, hopefully it will flow well. Just in case anyone gets confused, this first entry is actually on Telosan's behalf. Thus its his character and his part of the story and not to be confused with anything I'm doing. Oh and Uglania, I'm posting a certain situation you may be interested in. Please by all means jump in if you wish or you can PM me first it makes no difference to me. IC: Barcelona, Iberia He felt pain, nothing but intense pain. It engulfed him, permeated him, it owned him. Lynton opened his eyes, an effort of will in itself. All he saw was white, tan, and cream colored walls. As he looked around he saw someone walking towards him. “Hi, my name’s Andrea. How are you feeling?” Lynton tried to speak, but his voice wouldn’t work. After a few tried he managed to painfully croak out, “Pain.” Andrea nodded sympathetically and went to the IV stand. He couldn’t see what she did, but whatever it was it was wonderful. The pain wasn’t gone, but it wasn’t there either. It was like being in the next room when his mother-in-law found out she was going to be a grandmother. “Thanks,” he whispered. About an hour later Lynton was able to sit up with the help of the nurses. He sat reclined in the bed and asked, “So where am I?” “You’re in Barcelona. Specifically, Sant Pere Claver hospital. You’re a lucky guy you know.” “If I was lucky, I wouldn’t be here at all.” “You were hit 3 times. Barely missed the artery in your thigh. Another we had to cut out of your stomach and one blasted right through your left kidney. Need to be more careful now, living on one kidney may be difficult. Now sit back, if you need us call us.” The nurses went away to care for someone else. Lynton went to sleep. An hour or so later he was woken up by shouting and had to resist the urge to jump out of bed and reach for a rifle. Through the window in his room he saw what the commotion was. A stretcher was being run down the hall by nurses and a doctor. He must’ve been a new entry, all of them were soaked in blood and the nurses were putting IVs in him as they ran. There was a knock on his door. “Come in.” “Poor guy got his leg blasted off. Are you Alexander Lynton?” “And if I am?” he asked hesitantly. “I’m Major Touln. Apparently someone saw that you’d been wounded but kept fight, which then led to you being wounded again,” the major went on. “Twice more.” “Oh, then all the more reason you should get this. Congratulations, Lieutenant Lynton!” He presented an open box with a gold bar that signified the rank. “Thanks. If I get a rank each time I’m wounded three times, I’ll be the Commanding General of Europe if the Catholics decide to hit me 24 more times.” “Well that’s not the best way of achieving command. Good luck on your recovery, another guy here got bumped up to Captain.” “Later, and thanks again.” The major left. A lieutenant, if the war went on much longer he would be in the top ranks since everyone else would be dead. ----------------------------------------- Algeciras, Iberia.... Iberia had been secured for a few weeks now with Coalition forces holding secure the Peninsula. Some of the forces had been redeployed to other parts of Europe as their need was else where. Russian troops were feeling the pressures of home even in Barcelona and many felt their orders to return to the motherland were quickly coming. Thus it was a complete shock when their orders went in an entirely different direction. Russian command, although strap for troops, was now ordering the Russians in Iberia along with any coalition forces willing to go with them, into North Africa. Specifically they were to attack the coastline along the opposite side of the straits. Securing the vital real estate would ensure for the Coalition and Europe the mouth of the Mediterranean into the Atlantic and prove vital to getting the much needed supplies from foreign allies into Europe via Iberia. It was certainly a daring move as it would involve both an amphibious landing in three key cities as well as coordinated air support and manpower. Using Satellite imagery they decided that the coalition should land at Tangier, Ceuta, and Ksar-es-Srhir. Tangier and Ceuta were bustling cities which the Russian commanders expected to be heavily fortified. The key spot was Ksar-es Srhir as it was mostly a isolated beached with only a few homes and other shops in sight of it. From what Satellites could tell, though a Dominion presence was likely, it was a far cry from the presence in the two cities. Thus the Russians went around trying to sell the attack plan to the other Coalition commanders. Luckily for the Russians those forces which had remained, including some Roman militias which were forming along the Roman lands in Iberia, were eager to undergo the campaign as they too saw the importance of controlling that area. The Coalition began amassing their forces at Algeciras and began boarding ships from the Russians, Romans, and a few Telosanti ships as well. It was decided that they would make their attack on the area at night fall, with a aerial bombardment just as the sun went down and then fire from the ships. The shore landings were scheduled for midnight. --------------------------------------- Yshurak, Scandinavia... The Russian Empire was interestingly surprised that no response to Russia's push northward into Yshurak was given from the Dominion aside from their continued fight along the border. Russian forces continued to fight against Dominion forces in the Polish region along their western border, but it was not the great armies they thought they would encounter. This puzzled commanders as they well believed the Dominion would change tactics yet they hadn't. Many of the older commanders within the staff felt this may be signs of some secret plan, something the Empire had not counted on. Others more younger Generals believed this was more evidence of disorganization and disobedience within the Dominion's ranks. Either way it didn't matter as Russian forces were still trucking along in the Polish region at a snails pace. The Dominion had dug in deep and the Empire new it would still be weeks if not months before the saw sight of the Konoshian border. In the East, the Russians had finally broken the Dominion at the southern most border, but in the week or so since then had still only made it but a few miles into Yshurak itself. Though decreased as they were, supplies for the Dominion were still making their way into Yshurak along its massive eastern border. The Russian army saw this as a hole that would take a massive plug to fix. Yet they did not worry over this but instead continued to push. |

The initial onslaught of Marslavian forces was expected as the Russians slowly closed the gap with Konosha, what was not expected was the sheer amount of troops that were going to be thrown at the Konoshian lines. The Marslavian forces moved very quickly, finding open pockets in the southern trenches that they managed to keep open, but they wouldn't be open for long. The Marslavian forces were too much and too quick for the current manpower to push out, but it wasnt the intention to push them out. Instead lines of Konoshian A-8 Tiger tanks, unused in the war and kept as back-up, darted across the Konoshian landscape. The A-8 was a menace on the battlefield, it was truely the pinacle of Konoshian engineering and design though it was widely unused. Until now. The tanks sped past droves of Konoshian soldiers, who by this time were retreating to fall-back positions and reorganizing the Konoshian trenches so that it was still connected. Russian and Konoshian jets roared overhead the advancing tanks, hell-bent on burning the advancing enemy forces with devastating napalm and small-scale thermobaric weapons, despite the fact that small trapped Konoshian units were still in the besieged trenches. The Konoshian forces were going to make the trenches that the Marslavians just took, they're graves. The sky went red with flame, just as much as the ground bled red as the bombs and shells fell. The situation along the Oder though was much different, and Konoshian commanders met with more success because of the effective kill-zones that kept the enemy forces at bay. Though the Marslavian managed to establish a few bridges, it was not of much concern because the area along the Oder was open with almost no cover at all. That made it easy for Konoshian machineguns to hammer the Marslavian forces trying to break through. Russian ships also added the the hell-fire whenever possible by blanketing the Oder with punishing artillery. Unless the Marslavian army wanted the Konoshian defenders to correct their mistake from the last encounter, the Marslavian army would die in the Oder. |

General Zivkovic was resigned : the battle for Knosha had lasted for three weeks and the Konoshans hadn't been defeated . Surely important victories had been obtained, but the IXth and the VIIIth Armies had failed to obtain the total annihilation of the enemy army . Soon was given the order to cease the offensive over the Oder and continue only the bombing over the enemy lines . Meanwhile the Dominion troops discovered with horror the A-8 battle tank : the FT-10 couldn't destroy its front armour, while the anti-tank artillery revealed to be ineffective against the enemy vehicles . The IXth Army so had to withdraw in the southern sector, but the Knoshan counter-offensive was blocked when a Armour Division managed to get between the Konoshan spearhead divisions and the rest of the enemy dispositive ; to counter this menace the Konoshans had to sospend the offensive, but yet they had managed to fight successfully . In these wars if success wasn't immediate, it meant that the offensive had failed and this was the case : the Dominion Armies and the Konoshans would continue to struggle for few kilometers of land, an useless bloodshed . |

Bedlam ran rampant among the upper core of officers. With the fall of Catholic Europe, the plans for the otherwise fool-proof Operation Titan had to be heavily revised from here on out, if not abandoned entirely due to the new battlefield realities. Moreso with the fact that the High Command in Zapht refused to commit more forces. It was rumored that Dominion Intelligence and their Hunter-Killers were secretly trying to launch a counter-coup against Veicht in the Americas, the idea being that with those forces back under Gassel's control, they could give up the relatively unimportant South America, which had two (former) Dominion armies stationed there, and sail them to western Europe and knock out the Coalition with a resurgeance. However, due to the fact that these were mere rumors, even if they were true, no one knew or could know how successful the operation was. And so, the Dominion Expeditionary Forces had to do their best with what they had. With the Russians attempting a break out while the Army Group Redeployed, most effort seemed focused on snuffing them out while holding their current territories. However, in now-occupied Catholic Europe, the locals were incensed against the direct rule of the Dominion and were rioting severely, ensuring that the three armies tasked to keeping order their would be unable to fight in any offensive. The 6th Army was now almost cut off from the rest of the Dominion, though as an elite force that served with distinction against Paradise, their control over most of Scandanavia was still iron-clad. The 8th and 9th Armies did what they could in the Polish and Russian sectors, while the one lone remaining army held back the advances from Western Europe, with the remnants of the 5th Army. The Trans-Eurasian Line was choked with train cars supplying the forces with whatever they needed, except for what was needed most: manpower. For the Dominion, their once flexible plans had become very brittle in European continent. |

North Africa, along the straits... The operation to secure the African half of the straits was well underway when day break finally came over the land. Forces had successfully landed in Ksar-es-Srhir and had already taken much of the small village around the beach. Opposite to this success was the brutal battles still being fought at Tangier and Ceuta. Both cities had been heavily fortified by the Dominion and even with the success of the aerial bombardment and current attacks being waged by Coalition ships spared for the operation, the Dominion still outgunned them. Forces were managing to land at the beaches but the flow was more of a trickle than the waves the Coalition hoped to land. Once on shore it was a fight for their lives to get to whatever cover they could manage to dive towards. Artillery from the enemy pounded the beach without mercy and their missile platforms were trained on the ships at sea. A new direction was needed in the Coalition hoped to succeed in this new campaign. Thus without letting up at Tangier and Ceuta Coalition commanders began refocusing troop movement towards the secure beach of Ksar-es-Srhir. Though remote, the Coalition could move either east or west and help landing forces by putting pressure on the Dominion from their rear. ----------------------------------------- Along the Yshurak Border... The Russians were getting no where fast against the 6th and 9th armies in Scandinavia. Though they had pushed through the Yshurak border they had been stopped cold by Dominion forces. Furthermore the line of supplies was still making its way through to Dominion forces which only helped to fuel their fighting. The Empire quickly realized that taking on the Dominion by the horns in Scandinavia was simply not a battle they alone could win. Even with the Dominion now having the occupy Catholic Europe they were still strong enough to do it and fight in other regions including Scandinavia. Thus the campaign plan to attack head on against the Dominion was abandoned in favor of a new more sensible tactic. The Empire would now focus itself on containing the Dominion in the North, cutting off their supplies completely and holding the line while focusing their attention to the Polish sector. By royal decree a draft was instituted and every man and boy of the age of 16 or older was given a uniform and a riffle. The young men were put on the ground while the older ones were put in tanks. There was of course a slight mix here and there but for the majority, that were the lines were drawn. It had been instituted a few days before the Empire broke beyond its border. Now a month since that day many of the new recruits were as ready as could be expected for war. Already Russian troops were fighting along the southern border of Yshurak. Some battle tested units would be pulled away and lead the new units further east. The idea was that Russia would cut the Dominion in Scandinavia along a line stretching across Yshurak's southern border and further east until they reached the White Sea. Aiding the Empire was the fact that three lakes create natural barriers for which the Empire could use to keep the Dominion bottle up. Lake Ladoga, Onega, and Vygozero were massive bodies of water which lay along this area. They forces the Dominion to use routes around them or move in ships to go over them. To the Empire's knowledge no ships had been moved in which meant the Dominion was going around them. Stationing barricades along these routes would halt the Dominion less they bring in ships. To ensure no ships were brought in, the Empire would bring in ships of their own via the White Sea Canal and also add for their own protect more firepower. These of course would be smaller, more coastal guard ships but they would still pack a punch if provoked. Keeping the Dominion beyond the Canal was of course vital though the Canal itself would create a last line if the Dominion was able to create a strong push. The operation could only be successful if the Empire's army could stretch itself along this vast line and hold the Dominion. The Empire request Draxs support and were almost assured to get it. Still, the Empire placed upon itself the greatest amount of the burden and were willing to sacrifice everything to see its success. Units were already moving to engage the enemy along this vast territory. The Empire knew that once supplies were really endangered, the 6th and 9th would surely come to bare their teeth against the red line. |

The 6th Army, though elite and veteran, was spread across Scandanavia, and the greater bulk of their forces had to focus on Kasnyia, especially with the Porcuians out of the fight, and had to seize lands once seized by the small but powerful Porcuian forces. As such, the Russian attempt to plug them in was truely a danger, and for three weeks, what little forces they had in that particular area of the sector did all they could to by pass the three lakes. Indeed, the ferocity was as such that it seemed to be a bonafide battle in and of itself. Every so often they would briefly find success and break through to the 9th Army, but the Russians would always redouble their efforts and once again bottle them up in the north. Soon, the Russians were bringing equipment and material to create static defenses along the three lakes to prevent land movement, which worried the 6th Army, hoping that the 9th Army could provide them with some relief. In the air, events fared better for them. Though Russian fighters were quick to keep the Dominion from taking total air superiority, they did so in an uphill fashion. That said, even with relative control of the air, they were at the mercy of their airbases in northern Yshurak, and often could not risk going further south. In the South Baltic, the Dominion was fighting an uphill battle of its own along the coast. Both the navy and the army in this area fought tooth and nail to keep the Russians away from Konosha, but the recent shift in manpower was now beginning to create problems. Still, they held their own reasonably well, if with more headache than before. In the Mediterranean, only the northeastern sector of the Sea remained under Dominion control. The Egyptians were now sending ships all along the North African coastline to further starve out the Genesian remnants there. In North Africa itself, all the remaining forces, plus a conscription of every remaining availabe man of fighting strength, began to converge east, even as the Coalition attacked in the west. At the same time, Genesian remnant forces in the Holyland marched south towards the Sinai. The idea was simple: a pincer against Egypt that, if successful, would allow the two remnants of the Caesar's empire to come together and pool resources while at the same time getting rid of their biggest threat. The Dominion assisted them since in doing so, if successful, Egypt's demise would open the floodgates in Africa and lead the Dominion to final victory there, something that was sorely needed in that theater these days since in the time since manpower was depleted from Army Group E, the resistance to their rule had grown hardier, and several small states in South Africa had managed to achieve de facto rule, thansk to the subpar resistance by the Reserve Army based there. In Zapht, some were beginning to reconsider their strategy. One school of thought was to abandon Europe entirely as too costly to take and keep and send them all to Africa to subjugate the resistance their. Another was to abandon Africa and make one more push for Europe. Still another was to abandon them both and use the extra manpower to make all Asia and the middle east impregnable with enough to spare for a reconquest of the Americas. It was only a matter of time before one idea one over another... |

Events in North Africa... Coalition forces were now well within North Africa from the beachhead they had secured at Ksar-es-Srhir. They had moved from there to the city of Ceuta as it was a closer target. Upon arrival they laid pressure to Dominion forces in the city which gave some ease to the forces trying to land at the beaches and in the ports of the city. This now placed the Dominion in a pincer which would surely work the Coalition's advantage so long as they remained with the upper hand. Air cover was marginal as the Dominion forces held tight to their air superiority in the area. Eventually within a few days time, Dominion forces were pressured into the center of the city. Losing control of the beaches and ports allowed for Coalition forces to continued to pour in. Coalition forces eventually corner Dominion forces near their command post within the city's center and finally got a surrender from the commanders on the ground. The surrender came as enemy forces new that most of their armies were moving east and that there was little in the way of backup on the way. The success of the operation now gave Coalition forces control of half of Africa's side of the straights. Tangier remained the only obstacle remaining to take control of the straights and Mediterranean traffic from the Atlantic. ----------------------------------- Along the White Sea Canal... It had taken Russian forces several weeks to spread themselves to the white sea and begin setting up the blockade which would effectively cut off the 6th from the 9th in this region. It was a daunting task as the Russian army had to juggle attacks from both groups as the tried desperately to stay connected. Many times the Russians were dealt set backs as 6th or the 9th broke through Russian lines and re-secured for themselves supply lines back into Scandinavia. However, the Russian resolve to complete their blockade was fierce and they fought hard to kick back both armies and secure their defenses. Static defense soon began to rise where only simply bridges and roadways once sat. Certainly this began to worry Dominion commanders on both sides and the Russian surely felt a increase in intensity in the fighting. Some commanders on the ground began to worry if the Empire could hold the defense they were stationing throughout the area. However, Empire stood as strong as a rock against Dominion forces. Within a two month period the entire blockade was completed. Dominion supplies were now cut off from Scandinavia via the land crossings east of Russia. They had only the White Sea and the Barents Sea to ferry in supplies. However, the Russian navy was beginning to position itself to contest those areas as well. |

The 6th Army was now entirely dependant on supplies originating in the lands they held, along with the few ships the Dominion was able to send over the artic circle, but everyone knew it wouldn't be enough. For the 6th Army, the offensive war for them was over, as they fully concentrated on holding what they had. -------------- For the 9th Army, they were now throwing themselves full tilt against the Russians, as the 8th Army handled the Polish Sector on their own. So long as the Trans-Eurasian Line remained open, they would pummel all their enemies. --------------- The 13th Army threw themselves at the Kasnyians and the French to keep them on the defensive, while the armies defending Catholic Europe were free of enemy entanglements. ---------------- As free of enemy entanglements as they were, they were facing widespread civil unrest among the Genesian population, and it was only through fresh supplies of food and ammunition that the Dominion continued to hold the hostile lands of their former ally. |

The IXth and the VIIth Armies were now the shadow of themselves : months of uninterrupted fighting had reduced their strenght and they could barely hold the ground against the enemy offensives . The command of the two armies knew perfectly that these armies would be unable to make any offensive, unless they received reinforcements which were always denied by Feld Marshal Volehr's HQ . And so the two Armies couldn't execute the orders of offensive which always came from the command ( and probably from the hands of Gassel ) and totally ignored the worsening situation of the troops . The daily survival of the two armies was also very difficult : the nearest region able to sustain the two hundreds divisions of the Armies was Marslava, and it wasn't known to be a very reliable ally . The plains of Poland and of Germany were devastated and their population had fled . So in these conditions these armies were immobilised in a position war in which the Russians bombed the Dominion lines, and the Dominion bombed the Russian lines ; at least the IXth and the VIIIth were better off than the VIth which was totally surrounded . It's in this situation that the generals Zivkovic and Dironov had to admit the impossibility of attacking and sent the following message to the command . VIIIth and IXth Army hold their sector . Any offensive to relieve VIth Army is logistically impossible, unless reinforcements are sent . The two armies are reduced at the half of their effectives, relieve our armies or send reinforcements : any failure to do so would mean the destruction of the north eastern front as the Russian can concentrate their forces to destroy our armies one by one . |

Events in North Africa... Weeks of fighting in North Africa, along the straits, had finally paid off for Coalition forces. The Dominion had turned its attention eastward, and with it left western Africa at the whims of those brave enough to test the waters and fight for what they believed was an honorable goal. The Coalition had done just that, landing troops along the shore and fighting Dominion forces with as much resolve for freedom as the Dominion carried for domination. The smoke was barely clearing now from the battlefields which stretched along the coastline of African side of the straits but as it did, flags of the Dominion were no where to be seen. They were burning in the fires of the rumble, a sign of the times that the winds of change were blowing. The Empire had been amassed over a decade but many hoped it would not take another to see it fall. The war in Europe had last for months and months with little sight at first that an end would ever be in sight. However, the state of current events painted a different picture and sitting there upon the shores of one of the only free beaches in Africa, many a Coalition soldier could see it for the first time. The 6th Dominion army was now effectively cut off from Europe, frozen to death for all the Coalition cared in Scandinavia. Western Europe was still holding its own and the Russian Empire was making a go at 9th army at its east and the 8th army at its west. Though no one dared to utter words they would possible regret later, many looked at their fellow comrades and knew someone how that they were all thinking the same thing. It was perhaps the only peaceful venue for which to look out at the Europe they knew and loved. However, as comfortable as their front-row seats were they were eager to return to action. Action they would surely see given that though taking the strait was their objective, keeping it would be their greatest challenge. The Eastern Lands... The Empire had a small celebration for their success of cutting off the 6th army in Scandinavia. Though St. Petersburg and other cities were still in threat of missile strikes, Russia was sure to answer such strikes in kind and thus something of a stalemate was made there. Controlling the skies was another problem the Empire was beginning to handle with much more dedication. Much of the core of Russia was secured, it was the outer border regions and beyond which they still contested with the Dominion. Pilots, good pilots, were a dime a dozen these days, with each death the Empire weeps one more tear as the horrors of war continues to bare great burdens on its heart. The 9th army of the east, furious over Russian successes along the White Sea Canal, pushed hard against Russian lines. Russia, determined to undermine their efforts pushed just as hard back. The two armies clashed for two weeks and a stalemate ensued. Neither side was willing to give up, neither side willing to allow the other anything beyond what they had already achieved. An although Russia was concerned with this sphere, the General staff was now turning its attention elsewhere. The problem with the war in Europe was that the Dominion still had use of the Trans-Eurasian line feeding them the tons and tons of supplies need to sustain the war. That line had to be crushed, if not in Marslava and Bessarabia, than in the Amish country. Of course the Russians would have to get there first and at the moment they had yet reached the Konoshian lines. Close as they were, the General Staff understood it would take great measures to get there. Any attempt to invade Marslava would of course be difficult. The Amish country wasn't a core territory, but would be equally as difficult to enter, especially in the region of the railway. Either decision would cost the Empire more lives along with the lives of the Konoshians who would have to aid in the endeavor if it had any chance of succeeding. Thus within the weeks of redirecting themselves, the Russian Empire began putting more soldier, tanks, and artillery pieces into the Polish sector. They began pushing hard against the 8th as well as what remained of the 9th in this region. Even before the great push the Empire had been slowly pushing its way forward towards the Konoshians. With this renewed energy the Empire had now made its way to the Vistula river, around the old capital of Warsaw. It was here that the 8th and 9th succeeded in pinning down the Russian advance. This, to the dismay of many in the Russian General Staff, was of course a set back they did not welcome. The Oder was their target, where they would be able to meet up with the Konoshians entrenched there and make their way South. The 8th and the 9th of course had different plans for the Russians and were giving everything to stop the Empire's advance. The Russians would keep fighting however, and would do all they could to succeed to breaking the new stalemate and pressing farther to meet up with their awaiting allies. |

With the Russians over the Vistula, the Dominion generals in Kiensland started to panick and ordered the deportation of the last remnants of the Polish population . Any human presence in Poland and Mircania had do be wiped out from the territory and nothing had to be left to the enemy . Th eorder was executed only partially as the commanders understood that the war was lost and nothing could be done for the Dominion in the area : without reinforcements and lacking of equipment, the Dominion Armies could only try to resist the longest possible to the Russian pressure . However still the VIIIth and IXth Armies could hold the ground, and a fortified line was formed along the Vistula in order to gain more time ; meanwhile a relevant part of the VIth Army was called from Marslava in order to mount a counter-offensive against the Russians . Generals Dironov and Zivkovic, the conceptors of this new offensive knew that they were playng their last cards and that if the offensive failed, nothing could be done anymore to resist the Russians . It's so with great apprension that the two generals prepared the new attack . In the other side of the front, the Marslavan Legion, now that the Russians had advanced to the Vistula, could easely wipe off the last Dominion forced around Gdynia, headed to join the Russians and could finally make conjunction with the Konoshan forces in the eastern borders of this country which had resisted bravely against the enemy . OOC : NRE, I guess that Kas will approve this, anyway I have sent you a pm regarding this . |

The Russians continued to fight hard at the Vistula, hoping to break the stalemate and finally make their way to the Oder and the Konoshians. Word was that the Konoshians were still fighting hard at the Oder but were in need of the Russian help promised to them by the Empire if they entered the war. The Dominion's 8th and 9th were a powerful army but they were of course in lack of supplies. However, Russia knew this was only a temporary situation and that if the Dominion war machine won in Europe, the Trains Eurasian rail would once again steam in new supplies and fresher troops. The Empire was determined to make it to the rail line with the Konoshians. Word was the the Marslavan Legion was also trying their best to make it to the Russians at the Vistula. This was welcomed news to the Russian commanders in the field. After all if the Empire did go after the rail line in Marslava, it would be best to have a few of their countrymen fighting with them to help win public support over to their side. The Russians would make every effort to contact them in order to give them the information they needed to catch up with them and join them before they reached their country's border. A set back was reached when the Dominion armies at the Vistula launched a counter-offensive, and began pushing the Russians back. It proved that the Russians commanders in the field had underestimated the Dominion forces in the area. The push came quickly and was strong. The Russians were almost push clean out of the area of Warsaw because of this powerful move. However, the Russians eventually caught themselves and dug in, eventually carving for themselves a new line. Supplies were running low and it would be at least a week before new supplies could be ran this far from the Russian border. Commanders believed they could hold out until those supplies came and then they themselves would launch a counter-offensive. East of Russia the Empire was still managing to stay relatively equal to the portion of the 9th there. They were still determined to make it to Scandinavia and free the 6th from the hold Russia had on them, but they had of late not yet found a way to break Russian lines. This did not mean that they did not try nor does it mean that the Russians did not do the same. However, both sides seemed as determined as the other to stop the attacks and so the stalemate continued. |

And so started the offensive Zivkovic-Dironov. It was a smart plan, maybe the best ever conceived by a Marslavan general, but the Dominion now lacked of the means to successfully end the offensive . In the south the IXth infiltrated successfully the enemy lines, avoiding hurban warfare and leaving behind smaller pockets of Russian resistance, it was largely a demostrative action which had the fonction of drawing the Russian attention over another sector . On the other side Dironov's Army made a push towards the sea : for a while it seemed that everything was going smoothly but then, at only thirty kilometers from the sea, the VIIIth Army was stopped by a force whose the existance had been largely ignored by the Dominion HQs, the Marslavan Legion . Lacking of reinforcements and seing stopped the offensive, the two generals feared that the Russians would make a push to the Dominion supply lines and decided to withdraw to surer positions . The offensive had ended : complexively 20 km at been gained at the end, but the price in lives was huge and the two Armies had lost the greatest part of their strenght . It was matter of time before the coalition could break the Dominion resistance and this was confirmed when Dironov, Zivkovic, their staff and a small number of Marslavan units deserted to the Marslavans who fought with the Coalition . OOC: Yeah its probably for the best since we're so close to ending this European thing. IC: With the Dominion's plan a failure, the Russian reorganized and pushed through defenses at the Vistula. It was a tough fight, with many a Russian loosing his life for a greater glory but the end result was finally beating the Dominion back South, allowing the Russians to see a line of openness between themselves and the Konoshians who were to their knowledge still fighting at the Oder. The plan had been executed by Russian commanders who would certainly receive a promotion before the day was through. The Russians also sent word the Maraslavan Legion which had aided in stopping the Dominion's march to the sea. They sent messengers by Humvee to inform their commanders that Russian was planning to invade their former homeland. Russian eagerly welcomed them to join them and hoped to see them near the border in a few days time as the Russians still needed to fulfill a promise to the Konoshians and would then make their way the Northern borders of Maraslava. The Dominion was also loosing its grip on air superiority over the Polish sector as more and more Russian squadrons could be seen patrolling the skies as the Russians marched further west. Having left the Vistula the Russians fought Dominion resistance which slowed their progress. It would take them almost near a week to finally reach the oder where Konoshian forces were battling some of the 8th army. The Russians surprised the 8th with a full rear assault which devistated their lines within the first few minutes of the attack. Battled tested as they were the 8th reorganized itself and began fighting a two-sided battlefield. Offensively they were still striking against the Konoshians but did so at the expense of defending against Russian onslaught. They held up this tactic for about a week until the lines began to thin and a new strategy was needed if they were going to survive. Realizing that much of the 8th and 9th in the Polish sector had retreated to lines nearest the Maraslavan border, forces at the Oder could ultimately do little else. Realizing the mistake of their fellow commanders, Dominion forces began scaling back and moving southward. When the first Russian soldier finally reached a Konoshian foxhole and jumped in to aid in embattled brother, the Konoshians new the promise was finally fulfilled. A celebration between the men commenced after the final shots in the area had been fired and the Dominion had moved miles away. Russian commanders commented on the strength and longevity of the Konoshian military as well as apologizing for the delay. That night a meal, the Russian commanders began mapping out their means of attack against the Maraslavan border. They made clear their objective was to destroy as much of the Eurasian line as was possible, with a successful campaign including the destruction of the rail line going through the Amish country as well. They stressed that only through the destruction of the Rail Line could Dominion forces in Europe be crushed. It would completely cut them off from supplies coming out of the Middle East. If successful, Europe would have only to secure the natural borders of her region and ensure no further attack from the Dominion could be raised. Of course all this hinged on a daring plan to both successful invade and possibly liberate two Dominion held country, as well as put out of commission a heavily fortified train route that was the Dominion's lifeline in Europe. The Russians waited on supplies to be flown and driven in from Russia before the daring plan would put into action. |

The news of the insurrection of Prague and the consequent liberation of the Marslavan state, rose the morale among the ranks of the Marslavan Legion . Entire regiments of the IXth Army surrendered to the Legion and the advance to the Dominion Territories of Europe could continue without any opposition from the enemy . The position of the two Dominion Armies was now untenable as the Marslavan insurrection had cut all the supplies for the Dominion forces : the two armies found themselves pressed between two enemies... OOC : I know it's a very thin post, but I hadn't got very much time to write today . Edited by Alberto, Aug 9 2009, 05:04 AM.

OOC: As much as I'd love to leave more to be done, there really is no sense dragging this out any more than necessary. So I'll try to pretty much round things up with this post but feel free to post anything you think is necessary afterwards since although technically the war will be done, officially we'll still need the Dominion's formal surrender in Europe which we'll have to wait on Kas for to consider this theater official through. Also, I can't seem to get the supply lines map, that Kas supplies in the submit to show up for me and I don't believe he has a map of the Trans Eurasian Rail Line in the topic under the same name in the Dominion forum so I'm sorta having to guestimate here. I would wait for Kas, but being we're so close it just doesn't seem necessary and its not like I don't know where the lines goes in a General sense. IC: Russian, Konoshian, and Maraslavan soldiers were now all positioned at several key spots along the border with Maraslava. This was it as far as the Russians were concerned. The invasion of Maraslava would lead them to the Trans Eurasian Rail line and with its destruction meant the liberation of all of Europe. The 9th army to the east of Russia border was still harassing Russian forces there but with Drax aid, they were not an immediate problem to Russia's sovereign and thus she turned her full attention to the Polish region and Maraslava. Dominion air control have been pushed back in the last several weeks and windows of opportunity slow began popping up. The Coalition used these windows to their advantage and began bombing runs all across Maraslavan airspace, taking out fuel depots, military factories, and other important resources to the Dominion war machine. This also allowed for the Coalitions first peaks at the rail line which was more heavily fortified than they could have imagined but nothing to effective their resolve at getting at that key link to the Dominion's core. Early morning artillery and bomber barrage was the key single that the fight to liberate Maraslava had begun. It was perhaps the largest blanket of enemy fire every laid over a European nation in the last several generations. Not even the fabled wars between Saxe-Coburg and the Prussian Empire had reached a scale to which this tactic had gotten. Dominion targets several miles in were hit without warning and without mercy. This entire tactic lasted about an hour and then silence fell over the countryside as the first rays of sunlight began to creep over. This too was eventually interrupted by the sound of tanks and boots marching across the fields as Coalition forces cross the border and began attack whatever Dominion forces remained in their path. Their target was the capital of Prague and with it their first chance at seizing some of the Trans Eurasian Rail line. From there they would work west, taking out as much of the line as possible and then crossing the border into Amish country. The battles in the Maraslavan country were perhaps some of the fiercest fights yet seen by the Russians or any other Coalition force for that matter. They could tell that the people were tired of their Dominion captivity but at the same time did not tempt fate with an open rebellion. However, as the week ranged on and the Coalition inched further and further closer to the capital, the people's morale and their will to resist grew more favorable. Already the Dominion was having to occupied Catholic Europe and deal with wide spread rebellion there. Another rebellious population was not something they could handle with their dwindling supplies. This fact was made clear as the Maraslavan people grew restless. It started out with simple things like people staying out past the mandatory curfew. Then the minor offenses grew and more people began to test the Dominion's will to hang on to power. Before they new it the minor inconvenience began turning into open riots and paradise which displayed the population's distaste for their overlords. It came to its great peak when Coalition forces finally reached Prague and began their assault to take the city. People pushed the Dominion and took what they could when the Dominion pushed back. Still the Dominion could do only so much given that they were now being antagonized on a two front war. Something was eventually going to give and it finally did. After almost a month of fighting the Coalition liberated Prague and planted a flag of freedom where the Dominion flag of oppression once flew. The Maraslavan legion along with the Coalition were especially excited when the day finally came and the last of the gun shots echoed into oblivion. They're once before capital, although bruised and torn by the ferociousness of war was once again their own. What Dominion personnel remained was rounded up by Coalition forces. The Russians asked they be placed in their custody, they would send them off to Novaya Zemlya island where they would be placed in one of the Empires many detention centers across the island. Officers were be treated with "special" consideration, especially since capturing a Dominion officer was difficult. Celebrations for the liberation of Prague lasted well into the night but by the next morning much of the Coalition forces began moving out and moving west. Not, of course without one final fireworks display as they set the Dominion's Eurasian train station in Prague with charges and blew the entire building sky high. It was the Coalition's first successful attack on the line but it wasn't near their last one. It would take them an additional month to fight Dominion forces of the 5th army west of Prague and destroy other key junctions of the line. This battle would also take them to the border of Amish country and the 13th army which was already occupied by Coalition forces of Western Europe. By this time much of the rail line was now out of service for the Dominion and supplies were beginning to become a problem for commanders in the field. The Amish country was their last hope of supplying campaigns in Northern Europe. It was here that the Coalition began having their greatest fight against Dominion forces. They were relentless in their hopes of stopping Coalition forces from entering the northern reaches of the Amish country. However, the Russians, Konoshians, and Maraslavans were equally as determined to get into the Amish country. It was another two weeks at the border before Dominion lines began to weaken and a relatively short stalemate was broken. Coalition forces began pouring into the once peaceful and simply countryside of the Amish lands. Meanwhile, as Coalition forces began entering the Amish country, the Telosanti were given the go ahead to begin a naval landing at Venice, launching from Barcelona in Iberia....
The Telosanti landing took a about a week before signs that they would be able to hold out there became clear. This was good news for the Coalition as missile could easily be launched from that area to harass Dominion forces both into the North as well as to the east. The fighting in the Amish country was again a very intense month for Coalition forces fighting to liberate the peaceful country locked forever in a time long since passed. Not many soldiers stopped to talk to many of the Amish as they figured they didn't have much in common. Commanders were quick to make sure nothing was left behind that would disrupt the Amish way of life once the Coalition had successfully liberated them and they were again allowed to live in peace, in their own way. Taking each track of land one inch at a time it seemed as if the Coalition would never see the light at the end of the tunnel. Yet still they pressed forward taking massive casualties along the way but repaying the Dominion in kind for what they took. The 5th army was almost all but dry up and the 13th was finding it increasingly difficult to continue to supply troops to fronts which were now cut off to them due to Coalition lines. Though this did place the Coalition between two fronts, the 13th could to little to harass the Coalition as they pushed into the Southern region of the Amish land for fear that the French and Coalition forces west would then put them in a two front situation. Finally as the month was coming to a close the Coalition reached their last target, it was the southern most depot station for the Trans Eurasian rail line which was situated at the border between the Amish country and Catholic Europe. Not much of a border these days given that the Dominion in Catholic Europe had pushed control of the area east, leaving this region to itself. Still as they're last station in Europe the Dominion made one hell of a display in saving it. It took the Coalition several days before they could even come within artillery range of the installation. The first Coalition troops did not infiltrate the compound until two weeks after that. It was truly a bloody battle that would certainly go into the record books at the campaign's end. Still when the fire shots were fired and Coalition forces had overwhelmed Dominion troops stationed to protect the Depot, it signified the end of the supply line to Europe. The Dominion was now effectively cut off from its Trans Eurasian Rail Line and the Coalition decided that until the threat of the Dominion was completely obverted, they would remain at the remains of the Depot station as it would now act as their forward most command station for Coalition forces in Europe. Within the span of several months the tide had turned for the Dominion. Much of Europe was now occupied by free states, and much of the Dominion's former core state of Maraslava was liberated. The 13th, 5th, 6th, and 9th (east of the Russian Border) were now cut off from one another and their major supply routes. There was still much fighting to be done but the Coalition forces now stood on more solid ground than they did when the war began. Many politicians and military officials across the ethnic span hoped that Europe now put the Dominion in a position of abandoning Europe, if only the regroup themselves. It was allow Europe to beginning the healing process as she herself continued to bleed. |
