How does the Confederations Cup work? Obviously, the five continental champions, the host, and who else?

That's it; 6 teams total. It's a quick and easy tournament. If you're curious to know how the last one unfolded you can look here.

Ok, quick question for everyone. I was wondering what people thought about keeping the nations who no longer exist/have teams actively participating in football tournaments on the all-time ranking lists. Should I eliminate defunct nations (those with a *) or should all be kept on the lists?

I have no problem with the current system. Presumably inactive nations will eventually fall below active nations since they do not keep acquiring points. Is that right?

Wow, I really apologize RD for getting a reply posted right away! Yes, inactive nations get zero points and will eventually cluster towards the bottom of the list.

International friendlies are done and now for the Confederations Cup. Since no one voiced their interest in hosting the tournament I'm going to have Porcu do it.

Sooo, does this still exist? Or any international sports for that matter? I would love to create an international football (soccer) team for the Federation, as well as Skiing, and an equestrian team.

Do we ever do Olympics?

We used to. I can't attest for the past two years or so, but it I believe Porcu was in charge of it.

Its a shame this isn't around as much. I would love to partake in some harmless sports rivalries with some of my allies and enemies alike :D.

Would anyone else be interested in getting re-involved with this?

Ugh...I still have all my old documents lying around. A heavy update would be necessary, and unfortunately I just don't have the time at the moment to do it. I have been on a football binge as of late, so I would certainly like to get this started.

I may be able to do small updates, as with the nation list, so I'll see what I can get done.

Ok, I'm serious about getting this up and running again. Look for general updates.

Also, would people be interested in running tournaments designed for club teams as well? This would require a list of club teams for your nation at the minimum, as I could also decide national club league champions that would participate in the tournaments if you wouldn't want to keep track of such things yourself.

Both the Amish countries are always in. Just one national team each - no leagues.

New Harumf will be forming a national club league consisting of 8 teams.
The teams are:
New Zion United
New Zion Crusaders (This is a military team)
Port Elizabeth Warriors
Port Elizabeth Midshipmen (This is a military team)
Fort Nile Cadets (Also a military team)
Fort Nile Officers (Also a military team)
The Nile Whites
The Nile Blues

Al Whaladya would enjoy competing and will only need a single national team.

The Federation will form a national club league consisting of 9 teams:

1) Vienna Falcons
2) Vienna Uhlans
3) Salzburg Knights
4) Linz Fusiliers
5) Eisenstadt Tigers
6) Innsbruck Raiders
7) Klagenfurt Tempests
8) Graz Jaegers
9) Bregenz Panthers
10) St. Polten Furies
11) Horn Lancers
12) Steyr Panzers
13) Villach Bulls
14) Ljubljana Stradiots

OOC: This has been edited to 14 teams and none are military any longer.

That depends, is it simply me picking a team to be the winner or is there a system for me to determine the winner? That might be a stupid question.

Nope, not a stupid question. How is this done???

Also, looks like we might be able to have an international military league here!

Assuming that there are no teams with a clear superiority within your domestic leagues, I'd use a number generator to decide a winner and a runner-up. If there is some difference between the teams, I'd use FIFA14 to simulate an entire season and determine a winner that way. What you might want to do is also provide rankings for your teams. FIFA14 works with a 1-5 star system, with 5 star teams being the best and also being very rare.

With that system, however, we may need to decide together on how to divvy up the star ratings (so that one league isn't dominated by 4/5 star teams and another just by 3 star teams).

I'm digging the FIFA14 option just because i think its better to represent the teams based on a certain skill level. We could all have a single 5 star team in our league, as well as some 4's mixed in with a ,majority of 3's.

I'm going to be running a two-tier football system, so that some relegation and promotion can take place. I'll be creating that page soon.

What about having 4.5 be the top for any team starting out, with the possibility of "upgrading" to 5 stars after having won a major tournament?

Btw, since there wouldn't be enough teams for each region to run a separate tournament, I envision a sort of global Champions and Europa League taking place. Is that fine with everyone?

Sounds good to me seeing as how we only have 2 Middle Eastern Teams, 1 African and American team, and 3 European teams. Also, would it be easier if we all made an official page for our league like you have, Porcu?

Probably, as it would be an easy place to find any relevant information.

Also, if we're doing the FIFA14 option, I can edit your posts directly with the results and league tables.

Ok, so just running through the game I've tallied that there are way more 3-4 star rated teams than I initially thought. Just by combing through several different leagues (Brazil, Russia, England, Italy, France, Japan) I got over 60, 3-star teams, over 50, 3.5-star teams, and over 35, 4-star teams.

My point being that starting out I suggest we keep the ratings of teams between 3 and 4 stars. Teams may upgrade either by winning a major club tournament or perhaps by being very successful in their respective domestic leagues. I'd love to hear your guys' thoughts on this.

Also, I do plan on instituting a rating system for each domestic league, like UEFA does for each country. Like UEFA, two points would be awarded for each win by a club, and one for a draw. The number of points awarded each season is divided by the number of teams that participated for that association in that season. This number is then rounded down to three decimal places (e.g. 2⅔ would be rounded to 2.666).

To determine a country's coefficient for a particular season, the coefficients for the last three seasons are added. Bonus points are added to the number of points scored in a season. Bonus points are allocated for:

- Clubs that reach the quarter-finals, semi-finals, or final of either the Champions League or the Intercontinental League (5 bonus points).
- Clubs that qualify for the round of 16 of the Champions League (3 bonus points).
- Clubs that qualify for the group stage of the Champions League (1 bonus points).

The names for the two tournaments club teams would be participating in are not set in stone, so if you have suggestions please let us know.

The above rating system is designed to determine how many club teams from each domestic league participate. Associations with the highest ranking will field the most number of teams. The specific number of teams, however, will depend on the actual number of domestic leagues, i.e. how many people actually want to participate.
