ED I think you have it right, the point of the map is as much about the preservation of NSWR lore and history as it is about depicting the contemporary current situation. That's why there are old races like Patruans, Syawlans, and Eliasans on the map. Some of the races on the map were from countries that RP'd exclusively on the nationstates.net Regional Message Boards years and years ago. But even though all their nationstates have been swept away into the sands of time, I like to think their people haven't completely disappeared (barring a genocidal ethnic cleansing  ) and are therefore worth mentioning. I got the idea from a series of maps of real world races that RD showed me, as he is our resident ethnological scholar/expert :D ED I'll take you up on your offer here is a section of your geographic area in .png format if you want to customize it to fit your lore better. After you're done you could upload it as a .png or .bmp file and I'll splice it back into the large map. The original large map file is 25 megabyte .bmp file so I'm unable to upload it to imageshack but if you want the full version I'll set it up on rapidshare or something. (The large map I posted in this thread is a 1 MB .jpg version with compressed/lower quality colors as I can't figure out how to preserve the original colors and simultaneously reduce the file size to fit under imageshack's limit) Posted Image Edited by Tristan da Cunha, Jun 8 2009, 06:03 PM.

Huh, and how are the Finnish and the Hungarians related? Is this true-to-life? Also, the Qalaa'i are Persian. :D |

Short of chopping it into quarters (which increases the overall size), there's nothing I can do without really botching the colours. |

Its hilarious but true. When TC was making this map, he and I were pouring over old demographic threads and RPs. CE's information said that the bulk of his population was mixed race, with mulatto being the most common, so TC decided to mark that down for CE. Utterly hilarious  |

We have Germans in India and Italian-Croats in Indochina. Balkan Mulattos sounds far more logical in comparison, does it not? Being right across the sea from Africa and all... |

I agree about the Italo-croats in Indochina, but I think that Germans in India is more plausible. The Central Asian steppe has been the major transport hub of Eurasia since prehistory, and the transmission of one more Aryan tribe through West Eurasia is not implausible. On the other hand, to use the anthropological terms in the race map, the part of Africa close to Europe and which has historically interacted with Europe is Caucasoid Africa, which would not produce mulattos when bred with Europeans. I think that Sub-saharan Africans in the Balkans actually is more farfetched. So my scale from most to least farfetched would be: IOAC (Italians on a China) --------------------------- Balkan Mulattoes --------------------------------------- Indo-Germans Edited by Rhadamanthus, Jul 17 2009, 10:25 PM.

In terms of 'changes', I'm going to put a stronger racial presence in Ulganian culture. Srolonka's mostly Valencian-Ulganian, and Sahndaq is Arabian-Ulganian. |
