Normally I would agree with that logic, but let's not forget how this empire was formed. Some of the most militaristic, supremacist, xenophobic states in the world decided that banding together would work better than fighting each other.
Ah but there-in lies the fatal flaw. For a start the Supremacists don't play nice together. Secondly you need a real cult of personality to prop something like that up. Minus Gassel...

Not saying Dominion Successors can't co-operate. Just that I don't foresee it.
True enough. I expect that after the WMD fails, the states will probably blame eachother and the whole idea of cooperation, and quite possibly end up being more supremacist than before.

Well, xenophobia should run wild, with everyone blaming everyone else for the fall.

And the one true successor state leading the charge against the others. Muahahaha...

But yeah, I think idealogy of cooperation of the strong versus the weak will clash with the idea of militarism, both ideas of which were featured heavily in Dopke's propaganda machine. So I see some states cooperating with each other, some fighting each other, and some doing both or some other similar combo.

EDIT-

And certainly the supremacists were always at odds with each other. Veicht and Shoa-Tu for instance representated the opposite ethnic ends of the racist spectrum, with the former trying to opt out of amalgamation (which eventually happened anyway due to Gassel) and the Conns trying to gain control of all Asia (which Gassel is paying lip-service to). The West Dominion and the East Dominion were dominated by these two respectively, and so there has been a political divide (not helped by the fact that Zapht is in Asia rather than somewhere else) kept together only by Gassel's charisma.

Part of Veicht's reasoning for splitting has to do with his inherent belief that he is better than the rest of the main players (including Gassel, whom he has patronized almost from the start) and that Caronicillia should lead the New Order under a flag of ethnic genocide. The fact that Gassel calls him out causes him to finally lose it.

So you're saying that when Gassel dies/is captured/exiled, the Dominion will splinter into city-states? I like it! Then you have a rapidly scaling down civil war. Anti-Dominion countries can step in as well, allying against this group or that group. It would new members a little war to fight, and throw seeds of activity everywhere.

I can completely see myself allying with small Dominion groups to conquer other small Dominion groups and then turning on the first.

Regarding the headhunting stuff, may I be assigned a Dominion officer to hunt down with Kiel Ar when the Dominion falls?

Some of them will not even be city states. The ones that matter will consist of huge chunks of the Dominion.

Kiel Ar?

The sniper that killed (or assisted in killing) Bastian Gassel. Had a role in the Irish war. Defended a city in the Espanoran war.

Since so many voted for capture (and trial), where would one hold him. Or try him. Who would be the judge(s)?

Seeing as Europe is the major spearheading force, and the major anti-Dominion powers are Russia and Germany, I would say either Moscow or Germany. Though Vienna or Versailles could also do, depending on the circumstances.

A trial also involves prosecutors, who is the main prosecuting force(s)? Who currently has him in custody? Germany, Russia, Cerdone? The upcoming league of nations? If its the latter case it would likely be a city of their choosing, perhaps where they are based.

Let us bring him before an ultimate tribunal of the wisest judges of history and legend: Rhadamanthus, Solomon, etc.

Oh he will get the Nuremberg treatment, (I think at this point I've pretty much decided he will survive Zapht's fall) Just where and the judges/defense/prosecution et al had me wondering.

Wises judges in all the land, eh RD? Who in IC is equivalent to this?

I'm not sure IC. I was actually thinking in a more surrealistic vein, and imagining a literal tribunal of such historical and legendary luminaries.

Perhaps he could be judged by the emperor, who as the lawful kosmocrator would have a legitimate right over the usurper?

Although Russia would of course support that, lets not forget the Confederacy will at the very least be cleaning up the mess in the Americas and possibly committing its fleets to wrestle with the Dominion fleet in the pacific when the final days are at hand.

As a Democracy they'll want to see a panel of at least 1 judge, for all nations involved in the war against the Dominion. At the moment that's shaping up to be:

-Russia
-Germany
-Huesca
-Yvelinais
-Kasnyia
-Telosan
-Assassins
-Lamba League
-Terrel Fen
-Ulgania (?)
-Menhad
-Eleytheria (?)
-The Confederacy
-Roman Empire
-Egypt (aren't they in the Roman Empire....)

Yeah I'm forgetting some I'm sure, so it's not a definitive list but certainly at some point and in some small way each of those listed and possibly more will be involved in fighting the Dominion somewhere and the Confederacy will believe and insist that in some fashion everyone gets represented in the judgment making process.

...of course I don't know who the hell will defend Gassel.... :P

I like the idea of a multi-judge panel, though THAT many may be a bit much. Perhaps the main show-runners of the Coalition and/or the campaign against teh Dominion.

Since CE is possibly never coming back to RP, I think we should hold Gassel's tribunal in Genesis City to remind us of all the great times to be had with CE. Genesis City is also appropriate as it's the most famous/infamous city in the NSWR world and has played such a major role throughout the history of our forum right from the beginning and even before the forum was set up.

Imo the Chief Judge and Inquisitor should be the Genesian Pope-Emperor. Also I think all the leaders from the "Old School" Middle East should sit on the tribunal. That is, the Caliph of Paradise, the Emperor of the Resplendent Dawn, ERA, and possibly even someone from Patrua. In addition other world leaders could be on the tribunal accordingly if that is desirable.

Personally I favor a storyline whereby Gassel is sprung from jail by armed supporters, perhaps with the assistance of ERA. But before that occurs, I think the Pope-Emperor should play a major role in the proceedings, which would constitute a sort of "last hurrah" on the international geopolitical stage if CE indeed does not return. (But I'm sure the Catholic Pope will still continue to play a major role in various RP story lines, just not in the capacity of Pope-Emperor of Genesis City)

The Genesian Emperor will be on trial as well, for collaborating with the Dominion...

If I'm understanding correctly, the Genesian Emperor/Caesar isn't the same as the Genesian Pope-Emperor, right?

We should do things the old fashioned way. Hang the guy by his family jewels and whack him like a pinata before we feel like we've sufficiently beaten the tar outta him.

In that case, he'll have to be deposed, and a new, legitimate Pope acclaimed and placed on the tribunal

I don't know about the old Caliph, but I helped AQ get the new one in power, and he's certainly not a candidate for the trial.

Eh, the idea of old school national leaders (especially from this IC world) putting Gassel on trial seems wonky, as they are morel ikely to congratulate him than anything else.

I guess characters will have to be created specifically for the trial. Nationalities can be decided later.
