Even if I were to kill Gassel, his lieutenants and family would still be around to produce mischief of some level for while. And thats not including any future copycats who might use him as inspiration in some neo-stratocratic idealogy or something.

Gassel should die in a sufficiently epic way, and I say that as somebody who doesn't really RP here anymore. Let him become a martyr for the cause of world unification.

Can we possibly come up with an unsurpassably epic death for him?

I'd like to see him come back and get stuck with a loud-mouthed tiny island country.

Well then it's always more fun to take him down again!
In that case HRE will be glad to offer sanctuary

You have forgotten the fourth option: Gassel found innocent by a tribunal! Well, it could be chaired by Nag, CE and Scy, right??

He'd have to stand trial to be found innocent, and for that he'd have to be captured. But yeah, I've been wondering that too. If he got the trial and was exonerated, what then?

I eagerly wait the next steps of the Dominion . At the beginning of May I believed that the game was dead ; luckely I was wrong .
And luckely there is always Kas providing us new fresh material over which we can destroy each others :P
Anyway I am for the capture, trial and an original execution, like empalement or burning or being cooked and eaten by Papoo cannibals .

Y'know, regardless of what I do with Gassel, I think I will use all these ideas. They're too good to pass up.

I voted escape without thinking.

I've always thought that Gassel should suffer an ambiguous death - Zapht get's ion-cannoned with him inside, everyone presumes he is dead (because there's no realistic way for him to survive) but against the odds he does survive.

But much, much more interesting to me is the idea that he get's sent to some max security prison. Maybe of the polar variety. Where he's stood watch over by a legion of elite guards. Where escape is impossible.

I think that Kas knows why I favour this.

Random curious question:

How do you guys (or your characters) pronounce "Gassel"? GAS-uhl, gas-EL, etc.

And another random curious question:

How does one envision his voice?

"gas-uhl"

Evenly stressed, uhl not ell.

^ Ditto: "gas-uhl", evenly stressed

About his voice, the word that immediately comes to mind for me is "heavy". A deep, though not rough, voice...

Same here. He puts me in the mind of a real person... I just can't remember who.

Any particular accent? I doubt anyone can really imagine the Indo-German accent without falling into farce. I sure as hell can't.

It depends on the accent of the character I'm RPing. Its Gaz-zil for the Russian but the Confederates pronounce it Gas-sil

As For Gassel voice, he looks like he sounds like how Ed Asner spoke in the CSI New York Episode where he played the German Nazi

GAH SUHL. Both syllables stressed evenly in my book.

I imagine that he doesn't have an accent. He speaks German like Schiller and he speaks Hindustani like Nehru. He's simply exempt from normal human limitations on learning languages.

Heh.

I'm currently searchig youtube to find a voice sample of how I think Gassel's sounds like (just as a voice, not necessarily for an accent). So far, Jim Cummings keeps coming up, but I'm gonna see if any other voices hit the sweet spot too. Dunno why I'm doing it, but my curiosity is killing me.

EDIT-

Hmm, thats not bad, NRE....

Gas - as in the liquid poison
Sul - as in the element

Evenly stressed, and with a short S sound. Probably wrong, but whatever... I don't pronounce things very well (it's a curse of reading much more than I orate).

As for his fate, I definitely think he should be caught, but I think the most climactic way to do it is to have not a soldier actually capture him, but have (through some odd twist) another leader be physically responsible for Gassel being caught

And since most of the more heavily written world leaders are already under the Dominion, I think it should, naturally be my very own Tres Valentine of Ulgania who brings him down

:phear:

I don't even think an odd twist would be necessary. Some national leader, maybe Tres Valentine, should specifically gird up for battle and take out dozens of Gassel's soldiers Rambo style and have a final confrontation with Gassel (who maybe should be piloting some sort of mech). It would all make perfect sense. I'm not joking either. I've always been a fan of individual hero-driven RPs and there's no need to come up with twists and justifications for a hero RP. A badass hero RP should simply be presented as is.

Indeed, Scy originally wanted to be the one to confront Gassel and even had a character created JUST for that. But considering he's not playing around here anymore for the time being, I'd say his claim has been voided.

And there isn't necessarily a correct pronounciation of Gassel, I was just curious. Even more so with hs voice, because it would be interesting what people imagine when they read Gassel's dialogue. My own rendition of his voice is something between Tony Jay and Jim Cummings.

EDIT-

I dunno about just one man, but an epic battle it shall be. And with insanity thrown in.

Don't think I'm making a claim on it myself though. It would be ambitious, but the means I would be using to get Tres in such a position haven't been established yet. It's only deemed Project Odin for now, but it would be perfect to get Tres up to a higher level of prestige... and won't be for a while at least.

EDIT: To respond to Kas' edit:

Many climactic battles are multi-pronged, with a large conflict occurring and a smaller one-on-one, with both battles having their significance.

I have no intention of giving just any one player that. When we get closer to the actual confrontation, we will see how things work out. As of now, no one has any claim.

EDIT-

Agreed.
