"Welcome to Camp Dominion, folks," said the rifle bearing man, as he put the rifle over his shoulder and tarted walking to the low buildings a few hundred meters away. "It isn't very often anyone makes it this far into the Amish country in one piece, so you are to be congratulated. My name is Luke - Luke Waterton, to be presice, formerly an officer in the mighty Gassel's occupation force of an unarmed land. Real easy duty, it was, until . . . . " "Yes," said Luther, "I think it is not so easy now. Where have these little demons come from?" "From Hell, would be my guess," said Luke. "Otherwise, I have no idea. The native Amish seem to have gone into hiding, as you might suspect, though occasionally, we have strangers from further North wandering down, most freightened out of their minds, with reports of some surviving settlements in that direction. You know about the exedus, right?" Franca said, "If you are referring to the migration of several hundred Amish to the wilds of Northern Michigan in the U.S., yes, we have heard of their settlement, but very little about why they left." "Oh," said Luke, "they left because of Gassel's crushing thumb, before this moster invasion began, but not much before. Some think there is a connection, maybe a curse. Don't really care. Just want to live. We set up this camp with an electrified parimeter to provide a safe haven for Dominion folks to get the Hell outa Dodge, so to speak. You can follow the railroad from anywhere, and end up here, and you can follow it to the border and make it out. Trying to travel cross-country is suicide, but you folks look like you figured that one out." "We've had our encounters, yes," said Luther. "Well," continued Luke, "so far ya don't look to worse for it. Understand, these Amish here have really changed. They used to be real devout christian folks, but they took to worshipping some other God, or Demon, probably because of this critter plague. Be weary of em, if, or when you meet them. They're just as likely to kill you now than say howdy-do." "O.K.," said Luke, "this is as far as I go." He stood by the door of a one-story metal building made from steel plating, very military in design. "I gotta return to my gate post. Inside, you'll want to report to the commandant of the base, General More, William More. State your purpose. He'll find you a place to clean up, and see if we'll let you go on your way . . . or kill ya." |

The two religiouses looked between themselfs, there was no general that could scare them. Instead the phrase Waterton ... "What do you think they can pray?" Franca said softly. Luther was by nature inclined to think the world as a machine that God drove from his booth up in heaven, the demons that had dealt decisively changed the situation. "I do not know but I think there are very large forces at work in these places." Waterton's men escorted them to a kind of bunker door, which obviously was very Dominion. Although seemingly complex seem poor, in fact it should be, at least in the defense, very well equipped because the door opened by itself with a hiss. Bent on a map, the person Luther thought to be the general More, just noticed the. "Good morning," Luther said, "I am the Pastor Luther and she is the sister Franca, here we are traveling, your soldiers have saved us from a bad situation" Franca added "We would be helpful in our churches we have heard rumors worrying about what happens in these lands. With our eyes we saw demons emerge in the woods " At that words More raised his head and made the two sit down. |

"Now," started More, "I want you two to listen and listen good, because I'm not gonna pussyfoot around the crap that is going on in this country. We had 22,000 men here, just a year ago, now we got zip, zilch, zero, and no sign of them either. There are seven of us here in this compound, and the only damn reason we stay is to help any survivors that get to us - help them get the Hell outa here. Capish? "Now when two tenderfoots like you come along, trying to go deeper in country . . . well, all I can do is shake my head. Let me tell ya what's ahead of you. To the North, about 120 klicks, is the former town of Dusseldorf - used to be capital of this land - but people coming South through here say it's now been renamed Saint Michael. How they keep these demons at bay, well, I have no idea, and really don't give a damn, but we've been told there is no fence. None. Nada. We've also been told, well, this is the rumor . . . that the people up there do human sacrifice. That's right, the good Amish people have resorted to human sacrifice. "Now, these tracks run due north from here, for 90 klicks they are fenced in, just like here, and safe to travel. 10 more kilometers they follow the Rhine River, on the East bank - fence on one side, river on the other - don't know how safe that stretch is. Then, ya come to the last gate. Once passed it, you are in open country for the 20 klicks to town, and you are at the mercy of all the animals in this forest. All the demons. All the sick and twisted Amish. "So, here's the deal. I'll put you up here tonight, and feed ya. But, at first light, we open the gate and let you get out of here. You can go north . . . or you can go East, and get the Hell outa this country. If you ask me, going North is certain death; Hell, going East is no picnic, but at least it will take you out of this country. So, that's the situation. Do what you want, but ya can't stay here." |

Dominion Camp had a memory. The two were walking in the forest, while a ghostly silence around him. "At least," Luther said "They gave you a weapon." "Well may be little," Franca sighed, "but better than nothing." "Saint Michael" he murmured while Luther poked the fire "Dortmund has changed its name to St. Michael, who knows why". "I do not know," replied Franca "but I'm sure I'm not happy to find out." "As you get on with Yiddish?" "What?" The woman asked between amused and intrigued. "The Yiddish language Jewish Germans." "Well I know biblical Hebrew and German. "The dialect of these people is a very narrow-minded German, but still German speaking Yiddish, will help us not look too civil. Franca and Luther, extinguished the fire and went to sleep, but always with the eye alone, did not know if the beasts of the forest, she would have attacked them. Tomorrow morning would see St. Michael, the former Dortmund. |

Eyes. Everywhere there were hidden eyes watching every move Luthor and Franca made. At night, there were glowing red eyes of the demons, but they did not attach. During the day, there were human eyes, ever watching, as the tramped through the overgrown landscape north. On their left, the fence had given way to the sloping banks of the Rhine, and on the right, the fence was below the bluff, and out of sight. Just behind them, and on the right, were the hills nicknamed the Seven Dwarfs, since it was on the opposite bank where the Grimm Brothers stood and obtained their inspration for the Snow White story. This placed the two about 25 kilometers from the city of St. Michael. After another hour hike the fence rushed in from the distance, and plummeted into the river, meaning they either had to now climb over it, swim the Rhine, or find a gate. "Follow the tracks," thought Luther, to himself. Doing so, he came to another gate, similar to the one by the Dominion base. Here, however, there was only a latch, operable from the inside, to open the gate, which he gingerly did, in case of electric shock. Thankfully, it opened with ease, and the two looked at each other. "Well", said Franca, "looks like we will continue without the protection of the Dominion, eh?" "Actually, I am thankful for that, " replied Luther. I never, ever want to count on the Dominion again for anything, particularly protection." With that said, the two passed through the gate, careful to close it behind them. Here, the tracks were badly overgrown, and almost hidden, but by staying between the ties they could stay their course in spite of the fog, and the heavy undergrowth of the forest. One, two more kilometers, and they were still near the river, this they knew, because they could hear the lapping water against the banks. Suddenly, Franca stopped, and put her hand on Luther's chest, and made a "shush"ing signal with her finger and lips. She pointed to the left, and they both strained to hear what might be there. Slowly, a slight wiff of afternoon breeze ever so slightly cleared a small patch of mist, and the figure of a short man could be seen, dressed in a broad brimmed hat, light blue shirt, and black pants. He held in his hand, a shovel, cradled like a rifle. They imediately knew he was an Amishman. The specter took three steps forward, reached up and tipped his hat, and spoke, "Hello, friends. May I inquire who you are?" "My name is Luther, and this is my companion, Franca. We seek the capital city of this land." "Ah," said the Amishman, "then you have come the right way." Just as mysteriously, six more men, each between 5' 4" and 5' 7", stepped forward out of the fog, all dressed as the first, and each carried a tool. One, a hoe, one a pitchfork, one a scythe, each looking threatening, and each looking like they would have no qualms using them. "Come, said the first, "we have a boat, and can take you to Saint Michael much easier than traveling overland." Luther nodded, "thank you," and began walking toward them, but Franca hesitated. Something about the way the man said "Saint Michael" disturbed her. She couldn't be sure, but she felt as if the man was not talking about the city, but the actual angel. Eventually she shrugged, and followed along. |

The city seemed something between a cimitery and a post-holocaust movie scenario. But wasn't the destruction that made Luther and Franca unconfortable with the place, but a sense of decandence that impregnated air and atmosphere. "I don't like this place", said Luther. "I didn't like much than you", replied Franca. The ferry men brought them on this side of the river disappeared, however in their eyes Franca saw the same light she saw in Birry's ones: desperation mixed with madness. "For sure", added Luther interrupting the thoughts of the nun "there are persons in those houses". He was right, eyes was looking them. "They are looking us since we are entered in the city", she said softly. "I notice it", Luther. Then the surprise. The two religiouses reachedthe main place. The place was dominated by a great statue of an angel, with open wings and flaming sword pointed toward the sky. It was rude, work of unskilled and unspecialized artist, but was powerfull in figure and sent a very fierce and terrible look and its eyes, expecially the eyes, seemed live. "I should no wonder if the were", said Franca. |

"The eyes seem to follow you, don't they?" said a voice, directly behind Franca and Luther, startling them both. They turned around, and Luther felt for the grip of his gun, just in case. They looked into the face of what could only be described as an Old Testament prophet. He was even blind. "Don't be startled, children. I am Elder Thomas, and I am the leader of our little community here. Welcome to the community of St. Michael, as you might have guessed by the statue there!" Luther relaxed a bit, but Franca remained tense. Luther said, "Hello. Thank you for coming to meet us, what with us making no announcement of our journey." "Oh," said Simon, "I saw you coming, in my mind's eye," said Simon, matter-of-factly. "I have been watching you quite intensely, and I am truly impressed you made it through the forest alive. Very few do." "Yes," said Luther, again getting concerned. "Well, we are . . . " "I know who you are, Luther, Franca. I also know you are religious people - not Catholic, I suspect." "No," said Franca, on edge, "we are protestant. But, we are Father Luther and Sister Franca." "Sister," said Simon, almost hissing like a snake. "You are a nun? Interesting, very interesting. It is quite an honor to have such righteous people visit us." Simon then shouted, "Alvin?" Suddenly, Luther and Franca felt very strong hands grab them from behind. Apparently, several very large men came silently up behind them, and now had them in very tight grasps. The one called Alvin took Luther's pistol from his belt. "Alvin? Take our guests to the holding quarters, to await a visit to the council. Make sure they are well taken care of. Oh, and no funny business, Alvin. They are most likely both virgins, and you know we have a very special need for virgins!" With that said, the two were roughly taken awat from the statue, and led to the low hall before them. |

Somewhere, sometimes "Hey doctor Catholic", said Luther "Is'n it Wunderbar?" "What you find so funny", said Franca. They were closed in a some sort of room, without windows. It was not uncorfortable, was more an assicuration than not a trap. "They need us virgin", Luther chuckled "i'm not virgin for sure". "What kind os faith you are following Luther?", she said. "Well, before God claims my soul i have done many things, like fighting in the army you know", he replied. "Instead", she replied "i'm virgin, my catholic faith forbid me to have sex". "It is a sin, sex was only a gift given by God to man", seeing her embarassed he corect himself adding "However this people is strange, i feel that they are very similar to Birry Dee, that statue...it is disturbing". "Yes you said well but the whole place is disturbing, also the people", she nodded. "It's like as...", she added. "Like the have lost any hope?", concluded Luther. "Yes, if as hope left they heath". They had no time to continue a movement outside the door. "There is some one", Luther said "they take me over my gun, but not my fistes". |

The door to their chamber opened, and immediately Luther slammed his fist into the first face he saw, knocking a man to the ground. The next one entering was more cautious, blocked Luther's punch and countered with a night stick to the knees. Luther crumbled in pain. The second thug gave him a hard kick to the side - hard enough to crack the rib of a lesser man, but Luther countered with a direct kick to the assailant's knee cap. Two down, and Luther started to stand up again. A third man came through and assumed a boxing stance, just what Luther wanted. He ducked under the Amish man's first two right crosses, and countered with a left jab that stunned the smaller Amishman. Then, Luther left loose with a deadly combination, followed by a hard right uppercut that lifted the man off his feet and put out his lights. Then, a woman walked into the room, momentarily suprising the battling cleric. Luther dropped his defense, and she pulled out a can of mace, and sprayed him directly in the eyes. He collapsed like a ton of bricks. Two more men came into the room and dragged the blinded Luther out into the hall, followed by another woman, and she and the one with the pepper spray each took one of Franca's arms. The one with the pepper spray said, "Don't fight, virgin. We just want to take you to meet someone very important. Someone who wants to see you very badly." They gently, but firmly, brought her out the door. OOC: Filo, I'll make the next post. I also will inquire about if I can find the appropriate third party to implement a "deus ex machina" to resolve this ugly issue. |

When Luther awoke he could not move his arms or legs. With difficulty, and with considerable stinging, he managed to focus his eyes enough to examine his surroundings. He was tied to a post in the middle of the courtyard before the statue of the Archangel Michael, and the large alter before it. Around him stood groups of the Amish, dressed in their plain garb, looking more like farmers than the fiends he was now sure they were. They all ignored him - it was as if he was invisible. His mouth was gagged, so he could not speak, all he could do is watch. A young girl, of no more than 10 years old walked in front of him, then stopped, and stared right at his eyes. She had shoulder-length blonde hair, a smooth-as-milk complexion, and innocent baby blue eyes. She stepped closer to him, never taking her gaze off of his face, and Luther did all he could do, he stared back with pity. Then, she spoke, "Stranger, why do you come here to destroy us? The Angel has told us your very presence is causing us to starve. You killed my mother with your meddling." Then, without warning she pulled a short daggar, with a deer horn handle carved with the image of Michael, and jabbed it deep into his thigh muscle. He screamed in pain but the gag muffled his cry, and then she twisted the knife, 180 degrees, before pulling it out, and jabbing it into the other thigh. Luther almost passed out from the pain. Then, the little girl just walked away, leaving the daggar in his flesh. As he writhed in pain, another young child came by, and repeated the knife stabs, followed by another, and another, and then a fourth, and his blood ran red down his legs. He looked up toward the heavens and prayed in his mind, "Lord God, please, if you will take me now, take me quickly. Whatever your purpose was for me on Earth, I fear it has ended now. I have tried to live by your word, and by your love, and by your Grace. Dear Lord, forgive me." His gaze then fell toward more earthly matters, as he saw a man walk up to the alter, and he led before him Franca, dressed in what could only be described as a white wedding gown. She seemed drugged, and slow in her movements. The crowd all turned toward the alter, and began a low chant that Luther could hardly discern, but ever so slightly it became louder, and louder, "Wash us clean in the blood. Wash us clean in the blood, Wash us clean in the blood. Wash us clean in the blood." Soon it was a crecendo of sound, washing over him. He could not hear what the old, vile looking man at the alter was saying, but he had a good idea what he was about to do, as Franca lay down on the alter, offering no resistance, and as the ancient one pulled out a sword from under his robe. He raised the sword high in the air, while Luther struggled helplessly at his bonds, desperately trying to free himself and save Franca. OOC: So, who is volunteering to perform as a "deus ex machina" to resolve this?? |

"Simon," came a shout from in front of the altar. "Stop!" "Be quiet, Orion. We have work to do," and Simon continued to raise the blade. Orion, a young man of the community dressed in typical Amish garb, ran up onto the altar and confronted Simon. "Brother, the bloodshed must stop. I can no longer stand by and watch this slaughter of innocents like pigs going to a sausage factory. Many of us have had enough, and want to return to the old ways." The look on Simon's face was stunning. He was smiling, but if hatred had a face, this would be it. "Orion, I will not tell you again. Get down, and be quiet." Orion looked out to the crowd, "Brothers. This is not the way. God has not abandoned us, I assure you. We must return to him and condem Simon for the evil he has . . . " Orion stopped, and looked down to his chest. Sticking out was the blade of Simon's sword. He gasped, and then slumped into a heap. Simon said nothing, and returned to his position on the altar. Luther looked the young man going in front of his brothers. "The young one has soma courage", He thought. But Before he could continue, the man called Simon, killed him. "Dear Lord!!!", Luther thought "they has completly lost their mind". However the death of Orion gave to him and Franca the opportunity they needed. The Amishes around Simon were afraid and confused and also the grand master himself seemed ashamed. Luther moved so quickly, never tinking to be able to be so quick. With a kick shot down one of the guards who surrounded him and took his gun on the fly, then, even more agile and rolled alongside Simon and the points below the throat. "Now scum," said digrigando teeth "if you want to find your San Michele soaked your brain, free Franca" |

"Yes, Lucas, what do you want?" Lucas, in his white lab coat, was very excited. His glasses were askew, and he was animated, even for him. Johnson waited for his reply, "You just need to see this, Dr. Johnson. I cannot believe my eyes." The small lab on the outskirts of Paris was one of the many research sites for the CERN labs, but was also one of the poorest funded, and as a result, few cared what these scientists worked on. "I was experimenting with a Josephson junction when I noticed an unusual phenominum," began Lucas, "see, look here, at the electron image." "Some sort of double helix?" "Yes!" said the even more excitable Lucas. "Now, I found an easy way to manufacture this molecule, it is all carbon, with both a left and right helix, and each helix is one atom thick. The sequence can be repeated infinitely." "Yes, yes, Lucas, I know about the advances . . ." said Johnson. "But wait!" interupted Lucas. "I've created a three meter length of the molecule, wanting to see it's conductive ability, here." Lucas pointed to a long vacuum tube. "I am going to pass one milli-volt that one-one-hundredth of an amp along the thread. Watch the meter at the other end." Johnson wandered over to the meter at the far and of the tube, and Lucas threw a switch. Immediately, the meter shot up, regestering the voltage at the end. "Hmm, exactly one milli-volt at one-one-hundredth of an amp. No loss. So??" "No, Johnson. Look again." Johnson put on his own glasses, and re-read the output. Then he stepped back and turned quickly to look down at Lucas. "I do not have time for silly games, Lucas," and he started toward the door. Lucas grabbed his arm, and said, "Johnson, this is not a game." "Then explain to me how the result can be 1.02 milli-volts? Are you telling me this conductor not only offered no loss, but actually returned more energy?" "That's not all. Look." Lucas pointed to a readout that simply read 7.22122. "Do you understand, Johnson. This is in a vacuum. Seven-point-two-two nanoceconds." Johnson stared at the readout. "Are you sure on the distance?" "Yes!" squealed Lucas. "Yes, exactly three meters!" "But, but, the time required to travel one meter is 3.336 nano-seconds. Are you telling me . . . " "Yes!" shouted Lucas. "Faster than the speed of light, and an increase in voltage! Now, look," and Lucas draws a curtain, showing the opening into a tunnel. "One kilometer of this molecule wired for 1/2 volt and 1 amp!" "What are you trying to prove?" "Doctor, when I first tested I worked with one meter, and found a very minor difference in speed, but as I lengthed the molecule, the time differential became greated, exponentially. If the curve continues as it is shaped, this superconductor should actually register the 1/2 volt BEFORE I throw the switch!" "Oh, proposterous, Lucas." "I know," said Lucas. "That's why I needed you. To witness this experiment so I could know if I am going insane!" "Yes, fine, Lucas. Before we do anything, however, I am going to check your setup to make sure things are exactly as they should be." OOC: Yes, this WILL play into the current Amish story! |

OOC: Nothing at the moment. IC: If you were examining Lucas and Johnson in their lab you would have witnessed the following: Lucas throws a switch to send the .5 volts through the carbon double helix; instantaneously, Lucas and Johnson disappear and the voltage meter explodes. If you were watching in super slow motion (100,000,000 frames a second) you would have witnessed much, much more. You would see Lucas throw the switch. Instantaneously (even in slow motion) you would see a much larger double helix expand out of thin air, to the thickness of a fat man's thigh, and then slowly begin to contract again. You would see the voltage meter soar up to it's 100,000 volt top register, then explode. You would see everything in the lab begin to rise off the floor, including the scientists, and a stream of some sort emitting from the end of the double helix. Years in the future, scientists will realise the helix actually unified the weak and strong forces in the molecular and atomic structure of the double helix, resulting in a huge release of gravitrons, eliminating the gravitational field in the imediate vicinity. Then, as the helix begins to contract, the gravitrons are sucked back inside as the weak and strong forces de-unify, creating a huge gravitational surge into the shrinking double helix. The force of that surge reaches Lucas, who was nearest to the carbon thread, and appears to almost grab his feet. Then, you would quickly see his feet enter the helix tube, but you would notice they are getting there without his body moving. Starting with his feet, he begins to elongate, with the bottom parts getting so thin as to be pulled into the shrinking Carbon Double helix, which has now shrunk to the thikness of a dime. Quickly, the remainder of him is pulled long, and sucked into the helix, until he vanishes. Then the same starts happening to Dr. Johnson, and he too is sucked into the thread, but it has now shrunk down to as thin as a human hair. The rest of the lab equipment then comes crashing down. If you were watching from outer space, in super slow motion, you would have seen the double helix grow very long, in proportion to its new width. You would have seen an instantaneous flash go through its full length, to its new end in New Harumf, right at the alter of St. Michael. You would have seen the statue of St. Michael sucked into that end of the tube, and you would have seen Lucas, still in his white lab coat, spit out of the Harumfian end, thin feet first, but quickly re-constructed where the statue stood. Nothing would be seen of the statue of St. Michael or Dr. Johnson ever again. The Amish, of course, with out the benefit of slow motion, only saw the statue of St. Michael instantly turn into a befuddled Lucas, dressed in white, as if materializing from heaven above. Lucas took in the scene around him. The girl tied at the alter, the sword dangling above her, the struggling Luther trying to approach but being restrained. The crowd, suddenly silent as they stare at him. All Lucas can think to say is, "In the name of God and all that is Holy, what is happening?" OOC: Will finish the last of this part soon! Then, it's back to you, Filo. Edited by New Harumf, Oct 11 2010, 10:29 AM.

The Amish were stunned! Suddenly, Michael himself was standing at the alter dressed in white, and invoking God's name. They fell to the ground, diverting their eyes, and each saying a silent prayer of forgiveness. All except Simon. Yes, he paused his sword in mid-air, and stared in disbelief at Lucas, but he recovered quickly. He could see the "English" clothes under Lucas' lab coat, and knew immediately he was no angel. He began to approach rthe unsuspecting Lucas, sword at the ready, creeping menacingly toward him. At that moment, the now freed, very stunned, but single purposed Luther rushed the alter and went to Franca's side, gently rubbing her face trying to bring her back to her senses. Slowly, she recovered, and fluttered her eyes. Her first sight was Luther's worried face looking down on her, then she caught movement in her periphial vision, and turned to see Simon at Lucas' back, sword raised. "Look out!" she shouted, and Lucas pivoted on his heels to stare into Simon's putrified eyes. Simon's face distorted into a grinning rictus and he began to bring the sword down on Lucas. "No, please!" shouted Lucas, and he instinctively brought his arms up to ward off the blow, but as soon as they crossed above his head, some residual effect from his gravatron-enriched body kicked in, and a crackling sound was heard. Simon was no where to be seen, and his sword fell harmlessly to the ground. Again, if the scene on the alter could have been watched in super-slow motion, the viewer would have seen a lightening bolt-like ray shoot from Lucas' crossed arms into Simon's chest, then, they would have seen Simon begin to elongate, longer and longer, and thinner and thinner, until there was nothing but a single thread stretched toward the heavens, then, the thread would appear to detach from the alter and rush into space, disappearing into the night sky. No one saw this, however, they just saw Lucas make the sign of the cross with his arms, and then, no more Simon. Lucas just sat down on the floor of the alter, and looked around him in wonder. OOC: Sorry Filo, for taking so long. It's all yours now. |
