Yesterday I bought myself what amounts to the most expensive computer I have ever purchased.

As seen here without any real selections...

Of course this is strange as I have been on the PC side of the fence for a very, very, very long time. Ever since my family decided to stop using macs as they produced bad computers, for bad prices and had even worse costumer support. And as such I was a died in the wool PC user thanks to Apple formerly being a horrid company that needed to die in a fire.

Apparently not so much anymore.

Now they actually have a good product (one which I am happily using right now, over my desktop), and good customer support. Hell they gave me the wrong laptop out of the store so when I went back today ready for an uphill fight I was caught offguard when they just said, "Oh, we'll just fix it." And within ten minutes they handed me my own laptop with the right configuration.

And so far, it runs well, everything installed easily, I just picked up an external HD for it and it plugged in and was running perfectly within a few minutes.

So yes, its a good computer, but considering the price tag of just over 2k it better damn well be and remain good.

But yes... specs time... because you guys love specs.

13" MacBook
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
250 built in memory with 500 external with usb 2.0 (wanted to get firewire for transfer speeds of 800, but my mac lacks firewire support. DAMN YOU JOBS!)
Backlit Keyboard (uber smexy I might add)
And that nice aluminum outside... with a clear plastic protective case around it as I don't want anyone scratching this thing.

But yes... its nice...

And so the day came when I would finally buy an apple computer. I'm sure if you speak to Anti or Q they would describe it "as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced."

So maybe you guys can answer this to me now that I have joined the iCult... do I get teh black turtle neck and trendy glasses now, or do I have to purchase them separately?

Macs are good computers with horrible prices.

I hope you have a Windows installed on it, otherwise you will have a hard time playing any game...

Pardon the following nerdrage...

Yeah, you basically bought something with the same exact hardware as any Dell/Gateway/HP/every other company. The only difference is that the Apple OS is a shiny little user-friendly rip off of Linux that, unlike Linux doesn't give you any options for customization. While there is the redeeming factor of being able to run another operation system, I'm praying to a pantheon of deities that you at LEAST run a 64-bit Vista or Windows 7 release. Please, ANYTHING higher than XP with a 64-bit OS is fine. DUAL BOOT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DUAL BOOT

*ahem*

So yeah, enjoy your laptop! ^^

Of course. I'm running parallel.

And Ulg, I know, I own several Dell and Compaq laptops which had similar specs.
Only they do run slower... and have pretty much the same stuff loaded onto them. In this case mostly word processing apps.

I grew up on Macs as well until well I discovered PCs at a time when Macs were absolutely horrid computers. And now they are nice. And with the option to parallel it makes the Mac a nice buy pre-entering a real university.

I currently am using Mac OSX for the mac and running a parallel copy of Vista that I have installed on my PC laptop. I'm considering changing the Vista out for some other OS though, as I'm not a fan of it. I hope Windows Seven will be better, or maybe I'll just try and see if Linux is not a pain in the ass to run parallel.

Most Linux releases are fine. If you want a easy-to-run Vista, I could supply you with some
Spoiler: click to toggle
streamlined links to Ultimate 64-bit that I've never had problems with. Hell, grab Windows 7 (releases 7000 or 7048) 64-bit and you'll never look back. I know some decent 32-bit XP releases that you might enjoy using.
