So a new radio station opened up in Hampton Roads (Norfolk VA area for you uneducated types), a land where everyone's next-door neighbor is either a marine or in the Navy. There's a lot of country folk, and immigrant workers, and a large Filipino community. What we don't have, however, is a large Chinese population.

Hence my surprise when the new radio station opened up, 100.5 FM the Kung Pao, playing traditional Chinese folk music. What's even more surprising to me is that it's quickly becoming a favorite among the youth of the area, who scorn the majority of the pop rock, classic rock, and country radio stations.

They explain for themselves.

Why has this happened?

Obviously it is a conspiracy by TC to find a docile, Asian wife to clean his house and have dinner on his table.

Having had experience with Hampton Roads youth when in college, my guess is everyone is tied of playing lawn croquet on those hand trimmed lawns while stoned and eating mushrooms, and is using this as another way of annoying their strict military parents!

This is mostly accurate, except for the croquet bit. That would be awesome.

Very stylish. Makes me crave that old fashioned American Chinese food from the 60s and 70s before the advent of General Tso's Chicken.
