Write. Doesn't matter if it is good or bad at first. It will always get better. Look at Filo, who struggles with his English some times, but he just writes! Don't worry about spelling or even punctuation so much, as long as you get your ideas written down.

This is the same advice I've given to my students, and teachers have given to me. Get a kernel of an idea, and start writing. Don't even worry if you write yourself into a corner, because there can be loads of fun writing yourself out!

I agree with what NH said completely. I personally, hate the way I write and constantly scrap my pieces. However it makes for good practice, and occasionally someone will suggest a change and BAM... you've got an epic story on your hands.

Just read through some of the stuff I first wrote and then look at the posts I'm making now - You'll see a difference

Slowly you'll be able to develop a rhythm to your writing, noticeable and unique from everyone else. Some people are more apt to write about the front-line soldier while another writes incredible plots from an omniscient third person POV. Time will tell which you are meant for and then simply continue to improve that.

Your question now makes me wonder what everyone thinks of my writing...

I too have doubts about a lot of my stories, believing most of the time they just aren't on par with the greats. Plus I think we all know if there was an award for the worst typos in a story it would go to me. But hey I don't let that slow me down even if most people think it should  :P just gotta write, some how some way it just all sorta works out in the end.

My first posts come from a horrible part in my life. Look up the account "Srolonka" in case you're curious.

And I never spoke of that account again...

I had a "crude awakening" after... but no, I had no vision whatsoever when it came to posting. chatspeak and the like, greater interests in things that I'm sad to say I had interests in, and er...

Oh, and anyone ever complete the original Command & Conquer as GDI? 'Cause Gassel should totally go out like Kane.
There were two ending cinematics to the first Command & Conquer GDI Campaign. Blown up by Orca's and Blown up by Ion Cannon.
I meant the Ion Cannon "Live like a NOD, die like a NOD" ending.

Must be getting old, didn't remember the Orcas.

[Edit]

If I did my joerb right with Srolonka (let's face it, I was probably too drunk to do it right), you shouldn't be able to look up posts made with that account. It was policy at the time. Nag's Policy.

I don't claim to understand the law, I just enforce it.

Okay, not as bad as I thought it would be. I just wasn't that bright at the time. And yes, it was me. Looks like I was using the Valentine name back then, too. I'm currently planning on using the actual NS account of Srolonka as a European colony soon.

Seriously though, I'd like to think I've matured a tad bit. I was just an idiot back then.

Didn't want to start a new thread on this, but I just realized the Dominion ace in the hole has yet to be taken care of. Its obvious the MJOLNIR II defense satellite would have to be destroyed in order for anti-Dominion forces (they need a better name, thats a mouthful) to be able to allowed to muster forces for a Dominion defeat, but how shall it be gone about? A spy tale perhaps?

Sounds like a job for . . . . . . . . . . . . . The Amish!!

Er...I was asking more on how to take it out, not who will take it out. That can come afterwards.

perhaps a simply sabotage in space story? I'm sure there are plenty of nations with space programs that could get people up there...unless it has it's own self-defenses, then we have a bit of a problem with that idea, though still not completely impossible.

Well it can defend itself from anti-satellite weapon systems, but dunno how that would work on people. So its either that or pulling a GoldenEye (which would be funny, since MJOLNIR is basically this universe's version of the same thing).

That's why it is a job for the Amish! It may be sophisticated enough to prevent sophiticated weapons from taking it out, but leave it in the hands of Amish tech, and you'll never see it coming!

What do the Amish have... Steampunk weapons? Because that would be brilliant!

I've played with rockets in the past. They almost played a big role in my involvement in Project Fox, but that never really came to anything since it was archived. If NH has something in mind I'll let him have at, but I've taken a nice affinity to being a thorn stuck in important places lately ;)

This won't be soon, so no need to plan in too great a detail. I was just wondering how I should go about it, cuz MJOLNIR had a big part in the initial invasion of the world.

Well, why don't you have some fun and let me know when to start RP'ing bringing down MJONLIR, and trust it will be done with creativity and humor, instead of needing to control the details! That is a real good method to let everyone get back into RP'ing. Try being less specific about the details, just concern yourself with the outcome. Trust me, the Amish Children will be able to bring it down, even if it is with the power of prayer!

If you want something short and sweet how's this:

Nag Ehgoeg expresses concerns for the security of the satellites computer system.
Brilliant Nagian Scientist James Callis proposes a massive software overhaul of the system.
This system has backdoor security access placed there so that control of the satellite can be usurped. (Perhaps an enemy of the Dominion is sleeping with Callis to get access to the system to bring down the Dominion's weapon - perhaps the backdoor is in there on purpose because the satellite interferes with Archimedes's end-game plan.)
Back door controls are accessed, Dominion loses control of satellite, satellite is [destroyed/used against the Dominion/destroyed by the Dominion].

If the backdoor can be programmed in by the Peacock and have it be a Peacock mission, I could see that work very well. Sort of hoodwink Callis into thinking he installed something Gassel wanted or something. Of course, how I would do that without giving away who the Peacock actually IS will be troublesome, but hey what to do....
