How about RD? I think his silence is incriminating. In the instances when he was a townie he has consistently been one of the more active posters, generating ideas and seeking ways to identify the mafia. However in this game he has been almost completely quiet and hasn't offered his opinions, even though this is the most difficult game for the town yet. I think RD is a vampire and werewolf and he doesn't want to draw attention from his rival mafia or the town so he can survive the first night and expand his cult. |

From my Excel table: Telosan RD Menhad Huesca All these players have been very quiet since the beginning. We should know however that playing "low profile" is not necessarily the same than being "quiet". |

And like the TC/Telo scuffel before that one...TC's always in the spotlight. TC is voting Flumes because he has the most votes. That is suspicous, not counting his origianl vote for RD without and explaination. Sequence of TC's votes: Votes Raf Votes RD Votes Raf Votes RD Votes Flumes Now, THAT's vote flipping. I should know. Raf has brought out enough logic to add to this as well. Day 1 roleclaim. Then admiting a lie and claiming another role. By claiming to be the vigilante, he likely becomes the first target of both mafia groups. Vote: TC I can't reveal my role, but I die when hit by the werewolves or vampires. That should give me some night immunity because now the mafia will be looking for townies to add to their ranks, not people who they would just kill. Edit: Responding to Paradise who posted while I was typing this. I've been playing WoW. :D Remembered there was a mafia game so I came to check up on it. Didn't expect 3-4 pages of reading. Too early to say. Ask me again on Day 2. The only thing I know for sure, is that we have approximately 50% probability to lynch a cult OR a vanilla townie, and that we must take the risk. |

With that statement you're actually trying to get the cult to target you. I'm guessing you're a vanilla townie looking to get into the cult as fast as possible. |

In my eyes, going after anyone other than those who have tried to be hidden so far would be a wasted opportunity for us. I've made my argument, I'll leave it at that for now. I can promise you that at least 1 of the 2 mafiates, if not both (assuming we do indeed have 1 from each party) are in that group. And it would be a HUGE get if one of them was mafiate. |

Not really, but I think all the townies out there might want to pick a cult and jump on the boat. All the people with roles are likely to kill them off. Still not revealing my role, but I'll tell you all when I use the ability it carries. |

Hmm. Didn't see that post... Well WoW isn't anything important. Day off of school and, not that you guys aren't fun, I'm not going to sit around on this website watching a thread, refreshing the page every few minutes. Besides, there's an in-game event going on. |

We have played three games prior to this one. In the first, I was mafia. That was the game where I was the most involved. In the second, I was a cop. I was killed the first night. The first day, I first wanted to try a first-day lynch strategy, but then quickly retreated to a no-lynch position. I can't say I was much help. In the third, I was a townie. I was killed the first night. I spent the entire first day defending myself against your baseless and false allegations. So I'm not really sure where your claim that I am much more active as a townie is coming from. It seems to have minimal basis. That is an excellent example of how not to construct logical arguments. That said, I have valid reasons for being quiet today, both in-game and out-of-game: 1) I wanted to try out an observation-based strategy and use close textual analysis on people's words rather than using rhetoric to sway people to hasty conclusions. 2) I did not want to repeat the mistake I made last time of wasting precious effort defending myself against your accusations when they were trivial. 3) I did not realize that the day would end so soon until E posted saying he was extending the day. I had skimmed over the original post and thought the days were as long as they were in the original game. 4) I had copyright homework to do today, so I checked the forum but avoided large posts. 5) I got surround sound headphones in the mail today from Amazon, so I spent some time listening to music and watching "The Wire" on DVD in order to test them. 6) I have a major paper (a full draft of my journal note) due Friday, so I'm going to be busy tonight and tomorrow as well. 7) I got, also from Amazon, a copy of Cochran and Harpending's "The 10,000 Year Explosion" and I wanted to start reading it so I'd have some comments for you the next time we chatted. So perhaps I have not been very active, but I don't see that as particularly suspicious. As for you, I'm not yet sure whether you are erratically roleclaiming and tossing about suspicions and promiscuously voting because you are scum or because of some strategem. Either way, TC, you must be a graduate of the "Telosan School of Looking Like Scum" because you look very scummy. But for some reason, I do still believe you are hunting mafia. It might be a valid intuition, or it might be a flawed attempt to compensate for lynching you when you were a townie last game. Also, when it comes to quietness, what about Quaon? I don't remember seeing much from him. I remember Allesandra posting, but mostly keeping a very low profile. Paradise has listed others who have been quiet as well. Also, the number of people who have claimed night roles in the first day seems rather high. I can think of at least four. I'm fairly certain that every town player with a night role has not boldy role-claimed or semi-role-claimed (the semi-role claims being those who have said they have a role but been coy about naming it), so we probably have a relatively large number of night role townies and a relatively small number of vanillas. Anyway, I probably won't be on that much tomorrow due to classes and getting that paper written (going to take me much of the day). So I will try to lodge a vote tonight before I got to bed if we have a good suspect. |

RD, a stratagem is something I don't have  Paradise, what do you think of this strategy?: Everyone state their night roles, or if they are vanilla townies. When the roleclaims are in, the liars and guilty can be sorted from the innocent. This might be a better strategy than the current situation where there's maximal uncertainty. Time is of the essence, and the town is running out of time fast. |

This would only work if most people participated. However, the dominant strategy in that case would be to reveal nothing (or lie) and get the most possible information from others. In other words, the Nash equilibrium plays against this strategy. |

The way he says "I would also stay very low profile during the first days to avoid detection, pretexting that I had some important stuff to do." But I think he is trying to do the opposite, hes doing it for a reason. |

I appeared scum in the last game too. It's not a novelty for me... When you analyze too much, you look scummy. That's the way it is because people fear they are being manipulated. |

I didn't think about that, but you are right. THIS could be a strategy for the Cult. However I assure you that I'm active only because I have nothing to do right now and I find this amusing  |

 More posts like this would make my reading of the Environmental Policy Paradox (a.k.a. Hippy Propaganda) a lot easier. I agree on some, but not all... I really think we need to target the quiet ones right now... No one has given me a good reason why we shouldn't take this course of action. It makes sense to everyone else like it does to me, right? This isn't the typical mafia game... With only 1 mafia member in each cult, we have a huge possibility here. This is our best shot, after this it will only get harder... I don't care which of the quiet ones we get now, but it should be one of them unless I have a major strategy flaw here. |

I think we should target RD, based on his actions and based on my assertion that veteran players occupy the major night roles. RD is definitely one of the cult leaders. |
