Letter to Byzantine Empire, Alexanderhaven, Free Thule, Bessentia, and Eire. To my fellow colleagues, Some of you I met at the world conference, while others may not have attended. At this conference we discussed the changing time, and a point was brought up about defending our territories. Angelcynn, as a colonial empire, must always be on alert, watching for danger to her lands. For any colonial empire, they all have a similar problem. Some of you are dealing with this problem right now, others wait in fear of it, hoping it won't happen. So here, I propose an alliance of colonies. Colonial empires forming together, defending eachother's land, trading between, and staying on good terms. I present to you, honorable ruler, an invitation to become a founding member of an alliance alongside Angelcynn. No terms are set for the alliance and upon hearing your replies, I should like a conference to convene, discussing the terms of allegiance. Sincerly, Cynn William Edited by Telosan, Jan 14 2009, 03:16 PM.

Although the United Provinces of Harumf are in the "New World" we have never been under colonial rule, and therefore do not consider ourselves colonies or former colonies. Regretfully, we would not be sending any diplomatic rep-resentation to this event. However, if there will also be a trade show or pavillion we would like greatly to seek out trading partners in the Americans and South Pacific. |

The Bessentian Republic will gladly send a delegation to speak with Angelcynn, though we believe that the notion of a "colonial alliance" is a bit absurd. |

We will send a delegation to Angelcynn, but we are unlikely to accept the alliance. We wish to see what kind of folk will be there, and what kind of folk you British have become. Signed on behalf of the Irish Parliament, Lord Daniel O'Shiel, Prime Minister of Ireland |

The empire will send a delegate to Britain, for she has commenced pleasant relations with that land at the Nagasaki summit. But the empire does not consider herself to be a colonial power; rather she is simply the Empire (or Reign) of the Romans, the centerpiece of the Christian Oecumene, an essential and fundamental part of the eunomic arrangement of the earth.

Due to the sloth-like speed of the mail, the replies arrive almost about the time the delegates began arriving. Luckily, they had been prepared for quite some time. One by one the palace gaurds led the quests to their rooms. They were each assigned a gaurd as a guide and given full access to the city of London. Once all delegates had arrived and settled down, messengers retreived the touring representatives and led them to the palace's conference hall. At the hall, the Cynn waited. He was dressed casually, but appropriately for the meeting. He resolved to leave the royal garments in the room to avoid aleinating anyone. "Welcome, friends. As I said in my letters, I may have already met some of you at the conference in Nag Eghoeg. Then I was still a duke and our government was not set to its proper place. Though I am now the Cynn, I expect no different treatment. With that, I say our meeting of nations may now begin. Should you not choose to join the alliance, we could always open trade relations. I don't expect us to finish in a single day, so I hope you find your rooms acceptable. Should you need anything, ask one of the guards, palace servants, or even myself." "While I dislike to set someone apart, I feel I must say that Angelcynn is not Telosan or England. We are entirely different and hope our century long rivalry with our brethren of the isles may cease." The Cynn sat back in his chair and awaited everyone's reactions, questions, and proposals. |

The Irish delegate took notice of the statement. "We too hope to work towards peace, but understand we cannot give immediate trust due to the history between our peoples. We need time to evaluate your new government to see if it is indeed different. "But on to the matter at hand. You have called this meeting to propose an alliance of colonial powers. We would like to know the regulations and terms of such an alliance. "Also, we are fully willing and wanting to sign a trade agreement with any country represented here." |

"There are no terms or regulations as yet. The nations I have invited here I have chosen to be founders of this alliance. We, as the founders, would have the responsibility of setting the terms here." "The purpose of calling it a 'colonial alliance' is that many colonial empires have fallen, and the surviving ones seek to survive. While it's obvious a colonial alliance would not survive at all, colonial empires would seek to join as it provides thier colonies with better protection then they previously had." |

Before long the hours led to days, which fell to weeks, and grew to months. Having accomplished seemingly nothing, the delegates were frustrated, with their job, their work, and each other. "Seeing as these discussions are not leading into anything, I beleive we must call an end to our talks. Much of the world has no strong alliances set up, making the time ripe to raise our own. I shall be sending invitations to other nations, we may yet have an alliance in place. You all may return at this next delegation. I look forward to seeing you all again. Until then, Engliscan destroyers will escourt your ships back to your respective countries should you accept them. Til dogor." OOC: This whole thing kind of fell apart, so I'm going to restart it. It is now open, if you want to join or be present at the next delegation, please PM me. |

"If the invitation to Thule is still open, the Globalist Goğar Alliance will send Goği Eiríkur Ağalgeir to represent himself and the following allied Goğar (and their constituent members): Goği Haraldur Sindrison (189), Goği Svanhildur Kristjana (420), Goği Hjördís Brynja (177), and Goği Tryggvi Şórson (235)." ~ Globalist Goğar Alliance |

"Thule is, of course, welcome to send their representatives. As our neighbors, you are always welcome to stop by." OOC: No PMs as yet. No one wants to ally with a large colonial empire with holdings across the world? |

OOC: Alright, perhaps we'll start with a small alliance and work from there. I'm highly interested in allying with the Byzantines as they are the closest thing to a world-wide empire besides Ireland. England and Ireland will likely never be a match even in alternate history. IC: Though only two nations have responded thus far, we shall attempt to begin this alliance with a smaller group of delegates. Thule (OOC: I thought you were permanetly neutral? Or am I thinking someone else?) shall be attending this meeting, along with the returning delegate from the Byzantines. They are welcome to arrive at any time. Escourts will be awaiting you at the edge of Angelcynn's national waters. |

OOC: It's important to note that Thule, as a whole, is fiercely and permanently neutral, but any individual or group of individuals within Thule is free to join whatever international organizations they feel like. The Globalist Goğar Alliance, while based in Thule, (specifically Iceland,) is the group that is considering joining the alliance. While numerically small, they are quite wealthy and have a decent amount of coastal land holdings in southern Iceland that they might be willing to convert into an alliance military installation, if given the right incentive of course... IC: Goği Eiríkur Ağalgeir was a tall, fair-haired Norseman who liked to fondle his beard as he spoke. As he waited for the conference to begin, he managed to absentmindedly twirl a lock of his beard around his finger and make a tangled mess of his facial hair. |

OOC: Not likely, at least until the first confrontation. From there, it is possible that you could ally with both sides, but be neutral on the relations within the British Isles, although that would likely be difficult. For now, I think it's fine. So, E, Thule is divided into 4 or 5 parts. Each part is capable of allying with other nations without the consent or agreement of the other portions of Thule? Sounds like NS1 Telosan. OOC: Thule is divided into 5 realms, the Kingdom (Scandinavia,) Esternarx City, Svalbard, Iceland, and the West, (North American Thule.) However, individuals and groups of individuals within each realm are capable of allying with other nations even without the consent or agreement of others within their own realm. The realms themselves are more cultural designations than political. Politically, the individual is sovereign, so it may help to think of Thule as a loose confederacy of millions of nations, (each consisting of as little as one person.) |

With the delegates waiting for the meeting to begin, Cynn William would let them wait no longer. He entered the room, smaller than the one for the last meeting as there were less nations present. "Welcome to London, my friends! I hope you all find the accomodations suited to your liking. While our first attempt to make an alliance earlier this year was unsuccessful, perhaps this one will progress farther." "The alliance will surely be smaller than what I had originally planned, but we can always gain more member nations. The nations here today, Romania, the Globalist Goğar Alliance, and Angelcynn, are capable of making a great day in history as the founding nations of what can become a powerful, age-long friendship of countries." "We face a new age. Many years we have come, but many more we have yet to travel. To face these changing times with friends to support each other, we may outlast the rising tide of time." "Thule, or rather the Globalist Goğar Alliance, is a nation of traders, merchantmen and women. Romania is another nation of merchants, and a cultural center of knowledge and religion. Angelcynn is but a poor, civil war torn country, with landholding abound. Alone we are strong, but together we are stronger yet." "It would seem as though Angelcynn has the largest global reach in terms of territory. That said, it must be a merchanman's dream to have access to the abundance of ports and resources that are scattered throughout. From a military stance, all of our lands together form a decent shell of protection with outlying colonies that serve as bases for battle and scouting." "A blending of our cultures, if only a bit, would spread ideas and discoveries unimaginable just years before. Scholars can learn in each other's universities, our professors can learn from one another. We could create a second renaissance." "While all this could take quite some time, we can only get so far by starting off with that first step. Let our nations form together into a new alliance, one that can be strong enough to withstand the sands of time and be recorded in history to be a light for generations to come." |
