----------------- No warning was needed to be given, and so no warning was...at least not until after the attacks began. The contingent of Army Group E placed in East Ziyer made an immediate move south over the border into northern Ulgania, as the 100,000 soldiers hiding in what was once rebel-held Metz moved north and began assaulting Ulganian units in the area to prevent them from reinforcing their own forces. From South Ziyer, one of the armies began marching eastward across the former Holy Commonwealth territory to strike against Ulgania. In Sennar, those who were not busy defending the coasts from the enemy fighting in the Red Sea began to move southward to the Menhadien territory and began engaging troops there. In Ziyer itself, the air force began launching fighters and heavy bombers to assault Ulgania's North African territory, surprising them as they were focused on the Paradise campaign. OOC- I do hope the map is updated soon, so that there is lack of confusion. |

A better Zarathustra has never rode a horse

General Tibathian, long stationed at Desert Command and quite possibly the most knowledgeable person in the Federation, or even Africa itself leapt to his feet when he heard that of the Dominion’s invasion. “Those fools didn’t even have a plan, did they?” he shouted. When an aid asked about the stronghold near the border most likely to be attacked, Tibathian roared. “Not us you fool, the Dominion! They’re just marching in? They’ll be blown to ribbons before they can even lay eyes on the stronghold!” The military was bound to turn to him in a matter of minutes, and he knew it. An invasion from East Ziyer had been on the forefront of his mind since the border expansion. The only question in his mind would be over who would fire the first shot, us or them? Now it looked like there was a dangerous, hostile force moving into Ulgania, and it was going to be up to him to annihilate it. “General Mateljan is on the line for you sir,” the aid said. “About time. Hello? General, nice to hear from you.” Can it Tibathian. You’ve heard by now. I don’t want this operation being muddled. Our forces will be able to deal with the current threat without reinforcement, but I would like to ask what you prefer we do with them. “To start, have our forward missile launching sites blast away their rear flank, then move our people in as a buffer to keep them from retreating. I’d hope the 200,000 mechanized infantry at the border have not engaged yet.” Negative, they’re still stationed at the Wall. The Wall was something of Tibathian’s thinking. He had proposed that the newly grabbed area between Ulgania’s old border and Ziyer be used as a literal no-man’s land. Barbed wire, thousands of land mines, as well as a good amount of hilly, jagged terrain. The terrain wouldn’t be too difficult to measure up, as conditions in East Ziyer were very similar. Missile launching vehicles were already in position, and the fight for the north would be slow going at best. Federation forces prepared to fall back from the wall, but even if that was the case every inch of Ulganian ground would become a death trap. In the western portion of the country, Desert Command was once again prepared for everything conceivable, and a few things inconceivable. Listen Tibathian, the garrison headed from Flumes will take some time to arrive. Current efforts will be focused on East Ziyer. We have also seen to your suggestion to fit every village, town, and city that could be a potential target by the Dominion with as many Zeelari weapons as we can hold. The death trap is set. “Very good general. I’ll see to the encroaching Flumes operation. I am sure that the vanguard elements of the Dominion’s fighting force will be easy pickings once we’re properly sortied in the air.” That’s affirmative. Talk to you soon general. After the conversation had concluded, Tibathian made ready as many planes as possible for the western front. In the north, over 500 jets were prepared to smash at anything that came remotely close to the wall, but the threat of incredible air resistance was added in the briefing. Fighting had already started in Zeelar and Sahndaq in the air, and it looked as though the entire Wing of aircraft would have to be depended on for general air cover to be relatively possible. Several larger transports were being put in motion around Desert Command however. West of Ulgania’s border a large fleet went about the sky, filling it with the right levels of molecular material for a very special purpose. As the Dominion army advanced, they would face a level of cloud seeding never before witnessed in the world. The transports, civilian craft retrofitted for the task would be flying around the clock building up the TB clouds necessary for the operation. Hundreds of hours of flight time per plane before the army was halfway across the desert would result in an enormous storm that the environment had not seen in years. Tibathian had been quoted many times in saying that he intended for every Dominion soldier he faced to never see the light of day again. Northern Ulgania was prepared to blast anything that came its way. Western Ulgania was still making preparations. The use of thermoberic missiles, as done in the Paradisian campaign was still under contemplation, but they would only be used as a last resort, as much of Ulgania was populated and even a single missile would result in far too heavy civilian deaths. The naval operation was going according to relative plan. The more southern fleet still blasted any dock, factory, or military facility within range, but was beginning to face the Dominion’s fleet as well. The Federation’s sizable number of cruisers prepared for violent firefights, and were taking just as much as they were given. Putting them on the from of the naval campaign gave carriers and destroyers enough wiggle room to provide whatever cover they needed to give. This rigid naval battle would remain a defensive one for as long as possible, not wanting to give the Dominion any room except to retreat further into the Red Sea. The Northern fleet continued to engage itself against the trickle of ships coming in from the Suez Canal. The enormous flotilla by itself would be enough to cripple the Federation fleet, but was facing serious problems as they were becoming bottlenecked in the canal itself. Many of the hands in the frontline ships were referring to this fight as Operation Buttplug, but the Commander and Admirals involved in the campaign were treating every moment as though a surprise attack could come in overwhelming numbers. In Metz, General Tyre witnessed in horror as report after report flooded in, stating that almost all of the most southern movements his soldiers had made were being overwhelmed by Dominion troops. Thinking that they had retreated the Ulganian forces never counted them in again. Once a full SITREP was received it became clear that Tyre’s job was about to become a lot more difficult. A requisition for an additional 100,000 troops was put in to secure Metz. He knew his people would be needed elsewhere at some point, and he intended to finish the fight as soon as he could. All that was left for Chancellor Valentine was to wait for additional news on the Menhadian attack. He knew that his former enemies would be lusting for revenge after what happened in the Middle East. He hoped Menhad would be able to defend herself. Things were going to get very stretched, very quickly. Orders had already been put out to every union leader in the country that every factory would be put into use for the war effort. All of them would be putting forth supplies for the war effort, and many workers were beginning to adopt a new schedule. Four days working, 1 day off, repeat. Every factory would move its workforce into three 8 hour shifts to make work last 24 hours. On the off days, maintenance would be seen to, and to the factories that did not need it crews would be found to run things on any off day that it could. Ulgania was now in its most extreme war footing yet. The Dominion would soon see what a people prepared for a total war would be capable of. OOC: What? I haven’t been planning this for a while at all… Edited by Ulgania, Jan 10 2009, 12:13 AM.

The Menhadien nation lacked leaders, but it didn't lack a fighting spirit. The second the Dominion moved into African Menhad they where met with hardened soldiers, seeking to avenge their fallen comrades. Persian Menhad may have fell swiftly to Dominion forces, but African Menhad was alert and angry. Planes pounded away while missile and artillery rounds pounded away. Under all that still where Menhadien tanks and infantry. Edited by Menhad, Jan 10 2009, 06:59 PM.

OOC- Just because I haven't detailed out what the Dominion is doing doens't mean they aren't smart enough to see the heavy defenses in northern Ulgania. That said, nice job. I too have prepared. Mwahaha! :P IC- And so the war in Africa began. Seeing the assault in Metz being successful, forces from Southern Ziyer were being sent to reinforce them and push the fighting into Ulgania proper from the south. The north was, as expected, a total meat grinder, though there was a method to Karelberg's madness in sending them there. He would have to wait a little longer however, until the Ulganians sent a bit more into the fray, something the Field Marshal would ensure in the meantime. The Menhadien Africa territory was under heavy bombardment at their industrial centers, slowly but surely eliminating the ability to construct or repair their war machines. Coupled with the missile strikes on airfields and motor pools being conducted by the Dominion Air Force, along with combat along the Sennari border, the only thing that the Menhadiens would have on hand by the end of the week would be the army, though they themselves were a tough opponent. On the naval front, more reinforcements were being sent to the Gulf of Aden, to help in the eventual southern push into the Red Sea. Near the Ulganian coast, the Dominion naval contingent was stuck in stalemate combating the Ulganian navy, but word had it that a Vallahalla Mk. II was enroute to turn the tides, along with a carrier group. It would take a few days though. |

Tres Valentine appeared at the podium before the country’s press corp. Many of them frantically tried to ask questions as the Chancellor came before them, but with a level of silent dignity that he had not showed since the Reformation and taking power he stood. His face, much more sullen than he had ever let the media see was the end result of getting at most two hours of sleep since the invasion. He was, however bestowed a level of confidence that he, as well as his closest staff were keen to live up to. Taking the podium in both hands, he gripped it tightly. Going in his usual style of not following a teleprompter, he made eye contact with most of the people in the room as he began to speak. “My fellow members of the Federation, our fates are at hand. The jagged fangs of the Dominion, which has subjugated much of the world already, begin to sink into us as a dog tears into fresh meat. Alone, we would be torn asunder but we have our resourcefulness at hand. Our resourcefulness has brought us friends and allies, and has built a Federation of states that has made us stronger, and more potent than we have ever been in our pasts. The populations of Zeelar, and Sahndaq have accepted us as benefactors, and are giving us much as any Ulganian in the struggle. Arms factories in Zeelar work round the clock to keep us prepared. Naval facilities in Ulgania prepare to restock, refuel, rearm, and defend our waters. In Sahndaq, we prepare our air defenses for the cataclysm of that may befall them. My uncle, Dresdon Valentine who gave us the original means to modernize our air fleet has also bestowed upon us the very factories to continue our struggle. As the Federation is integrated, it will work together to pull out the fangs of the Dominion. “However, it is important to note the severity of our situation. As the Federation faces its onslaught we face a highly mobile, willing enemy that will go through whatever it must to ensure victory. We face attacks from the north from East Ziyer, from the west from South Ziyer, and from the south from Metz. Each front will be potent, but manageable. In north Africa, we sustain the battle for the Red Sea. Our friends in Paradise depend on us, and we reciprocate by thrashing the waves and striking the Dominion’s navy, and bring the fight to Sennar itself. Zeelar and Sahndaq face attacks from the air, but we repel them as quickly as they come. Soon, aid will be sent to Menhad, our former enemy. Fate has not bode well for this proud people, and as they face utter destruction we will see them through. “Our fight will be for survival for some time. But our resiliency will throw the Dominion to the ropes. Let them send their armies, their weapons, and their men. Let them send their people to their deaths. For those who are willing to die so easily, let them come. The world has seen the Dominion and what is left is acting. Just recently, the Romans have took a stand against them! Few years have past since we as Ulganians have even been able to call ourselves a country, and here we stand ready to fight along side Paradise, Menhad, the Romans, and our burgeoning countrymen! Let these days be strong for Ulgania, and her people!” --- During the speech, General Tibathian had been letting the Military News Network play in the background. The fiery speech went by him almost without warning. It was the reference to the Romans that perked his ears. Now that he was beginning to put them in the equations, his nerves were able to recede a little. However, he consistently prepared for the worst. The commanders in Ziyer must have known that they would be sending hundreds upon thousands of soldiers to their deaths. What could the purpose have possibly been? Is it a trap? Tibathian’s primary goal was to turn the war in the north in Ulgania’s favor. Keeping the skies clear was going to be the biggest challenge, as East Ziyer was home to some of the most skilled and powerful bombers on the African continent. They’ll probably make air raids at alarming speeds if we get things too concentrated. Ah, here we are… he thought to himself. Tibathia was known to be a silent man. He would often sit as his desk for hours without saying a word, so concentrated that people speaking to him would have to snap him from his trance with a slight shove, or a raised voice. Jotting down some notes on Spec Ops elements in the area, he formulated a plan. Up until now, the Dominion army was making limited contact with the Ulganian forces. The path to the Wall itself had been treacherous enough to inflict relative casualties and slow the Dominion advance. Tibathian had seen to the dispatchment of several units of missile launching vehicles and armor, suited to bring and Dominion soldier or vehicle within range to a stop. Artillery and howitzers were seeing to the farther off forces. It was slow going, but ultimately the juggernaut would come crashing down on the line. --- Twelve hours after the speech, ten Spec Ops soldiers had been on foot since Tibathian had conceived the plan. It was really very simple, and not intended to stop the Dominion’s charge, but to break it up. While most of the terrain was rock covered foothills, a good deal of it was navigable. Based on the route Dominion forces taking, and probable routes being considered, they were taking the paths of least resistance. For the Spec Ops soldiers, their mission was to force these paths to become narrow, and to branch off. They did so by placing infrared markers and signaling devices that could be detected via AWACS and satellite. From there, missiles would be fired of varying size, according to the need to make the paths non-maneuverable, and force the larger units to break off into smaller, easier to overwhelm units. The group was one of nearly 50, being sent out on the hillside. They had probable locations of Dominion scouting elements, but were maintaining strict radio silence unless something cataclysmic were to occur. Under cover of darkness, this group had been covering several of the foothills between the encroaching army and the Wall, and when they found the point they were looking for, they saw it was already being occupied. “Look what we have here,” the soldier on point said to the CO. “About 30 walkers, two jeeps, and three turtles. No way we can get by that to get the marker up,” he said. “Damn inconvenient if you ask me,” replied the older Ulganian, looking over the situation with him night-vision goggles. “They’ll move soon. We just need to sit tight. Maybe a distraction would do…” he said, trailing off. “I can rig up a claymore to a timer,” one of the soldiers said. She was a Zeelari woman, very crafty and forward with suggestions. “I’ll strike out a couple clicks south, and set it to detonate right as I get back. They’ll go for cover, and probably move out in some direction. We can finish our job then,” she said. “Anyone have a better suggestion?” the CO asked. Within an hour, the woman had rushed out, and returned. A very audible blast resounded in the near-silent night. The Dominion soldiers were clearly stirred, and the officers began barking orders for them to move out. “While you were gone we managed to sneak around and set a few more claymores. They shouldn’t go off, but if we’re seen they’ll have a helluva time catching us. Tanks might be a problem, but they won’t be able to follow us into the wilderness after the detonations,” the CO said. Sure as the sunrise, they began to move out. A few scouts had gone up ahead, but the brass had elected to move them more forward. Once the last soldier was out of site, they moved down to the flat area the scouting unit had stopped on. The CO chopped out a couple inches of packed Earth and stuck the signaling device into it. “Out of here, everyone!” Within minutes, a loud whistling sound could be heard, and a specialized bomb slammed into the ground within inches of the signaling device. The bomb was designed to detonate after reaching 5 meters underground. While gravity would fail to accomplish it, the propulsion system added to it that deployed after the thing had been fired would. The ensuing explosion still lit up the sky though. From a distance, the soldiers watched the Dominion scouts return to the wreckage. Some were counting their blessings, mistakenly thinking that they might have been in that spot. Not wanting to needlessly risk harm when there was not even a fight to be had, the brass ordered the troops to fall back. The soldiers were able to walk, but the jeeps and tanks got stuck in the crater, and were unable to move around the road. “Looks like we accomplished something,” the CO said. “I’ll request another strike once we get back to the Wall if it looks like they’d still be around.” OOC: I don’t really feel like adding this RP-wise, but I’m reinforcing the northern garrison with a million general infantry and a million mechanized infantry to reinforce what’s already there, as well as all the armor necessary. Also I don't mean to be sour about this but I originally (way back when) intended to make Ulgania a naval power. For all intents and purposes, I'd like to see an even face off between the Vallahalla Mk. II and my Valentine-Class Carrier-Destroyer. I don't have much in the way of super weapons, but I do consider the two Carrier-Destroyers as top of the line as the NSWR seas have seen (relative to what exists) Edited by Ulgania, Jan 12 2009, 01:11 AM.

Despite the ongoing efforts of the Spec Ops teams operating in the area between the Dominion army and the Wall, the inevitable was beginning to arise almost as quickly as it had started. Lines of armor, infantry, and wave after wave of bombardment began to make the Ulganians ready for the full-on fight uneasy. However, with the reinforcements within a day from their position they knew every moment would count. The first volleys of missiles were meant to illuminate the morning twilight. Disorienting and sputtering balls of light to make any night vision equipment irrelevant. It would make things harder for the Ulgans on the ground, but that would not matter yet. The point was only to slow the advance. After the incendiaries came the heavier volleys. Tibathian saw from a distant webcam two arcs of rockets heading towards the Dominion line. The first was arcing almost directly in the air, while the second was fired as the first arc peaked. The two separate volleys landed simultaneously, driving a punch directly into the line and from above. 5 miles out, longer range artillery was continuously being fed information via satellite about the location of incoming tanks and armor. Not wanting to lose any opportunity, ongoing blasts were being conducted to soften up anything that approached. OOC: On a lighter note, I highly suggest listening to the like of 'This is Goa Trance' on youtube while reading this. Any volume will do ^^ |

"Is it ready?!" "Fully charged sir, moving MJOLNIR into position." "Hurry it up then! I want to have total control over the situation as soon as the enemy is in proper position. Teach them some respect..." "Yes, Field Marshal," ---------- Meanwhile, as the Ulganians were effectively surrounded on all sides in South Africa, in North Africa, they were still relatively untouched on the ground, though the air was beginning to slowly come under Dominion control over the skies of Zeelar-Sahndaq. In another day, no Ulgan fighter or other aircraft would be able to leave their airfield (assuming any airfield still existed), suffering the same fate as their Menhadien allies to the south. That said, it made the Caronicillian Field Marshal, Jan Karelberg, uneasy that the ground was still theirs. As such, he decided to send Erich Rawiri to attack and seize the area with an army. Slowly the positions of the pieces were coming together....soon Africa would also be theirs. |

Indeed fate had been unkind to the Menhadiens lately, the lose of Persian, and deaths of the Three Families, and the deaths of so many sailors, soldiers and airmen. Menhad was slowly dieing. The blood of Menhadien youth was being bled out. The sands of Persia where soaked with Menhadien blood. Asia was aflame, and while Menhadiens bloodh had largely avoided that fight, Orgienist died in the droves. Europe was once again burning, and Menhadien blood was mingled with the snow. And in Africa, the savanna was once again going to get a fresh coating of Menhadien blood. Menhad was going to die. The youth of a nation was disappearing into countless battles across the globe. And Menhadien pride would never let their enemies know this. More and more men where fed into the firefights. _____________________________ The Dominion's air strikes, that targeted the industrial capabilities, where annoying, but the effectiveness could be debated. The Menhadien air cover was strong(Not as stong as the Dominion's), anti-aircraft batteries plentiful, and the factories where strongly built. The attrition rate among Dominion pilots was bad, but the Dominion had no lack of pilots. But was it really worth it? Who knows. Dominion artillery fire was being targeted by Menhadien batteries and missiles. If any battery was foolish enough to stay put after a few salvos it was under heavy fire. But the counter-batteries would be attacked if they stayed still. If the Dominion kept fighting this way, it would take them years to defeat the Menhadiens Edited by Menhad, Jan 13 2009, 05:36 PM.

OOC- Dominion pilots are not flies, and the damage being done to you, while sustainable, ain't negligible. IC- Jan Karelberg, the Caronicillian Field Marshal in charge of African operations, had had enough. The Menhadiens may have been strong enough to resist the Dominion, but they would not have the leisure of sitting about to even rest, let alone stage any sort of counter offensive. By now, several days in, the primary industrial centers had been totally leveled, even to their foundations in some places, thanks to heavy bombing by the nigh-uncatchable Objekt-901 bombers and shelling from the since-redirected Zanzibar Gun further south on the continent. As such, the Dominion sent in its armies south across the border and through their coastline with help from the Dominion Navy ( especially aided by several Vallahalla Mk. II missile-ladden battlecruisers who pounded their nearby defenses, both static and mobile, with impunity), destroying their ports and factories, and facing heavy but managable resistance. It would take a few weeks, and but after that, Menhadien Africa would be totally cut off from the sea. ------- Finally a good sized portion of the total Ulganian forces were at their northern border, firing away at the Dominion's southerly advance, which had hardly dented at all past the no man's land, instead becoming a meat grinder for the troops being sent there by Karelberg. However, that soon changed. As soon as he was satisfied with the number, Karelberg ordered the MJOLNIR to fire at full strength, sending a pulse into north Ulgania just south of the no-man's land, destroying anything with a circuit inside. Moments later, as Ulgan aircraft fell about like dead flies around disabled tanks and other machinery, the MJOLNIR as quickly as it came, disappeared, having been moved to a different orbit. This affected the southern-most Dominion units as well, creating a wall of junk where the front line once was, forcing those just behind to negotiate through the ruinous terrain. They continued their advance, but they were never a large force to begin with, and though they had sapped a good deal of strength from the Ulgan forces in this sector, it was at the cost of the East Ziyer Corps itself. And while forces from South Ziyer were enroute, they would not reach in time, likely. Indeed, they would likely be too busy cordoning off Ulgania and its ally Metz from the rest of the continent, landside anyway. The EZC would not surrender however. The Zanzibar Gun still needed protection for as long as they could provide it. And so they would to the very end... Edited by Kasnyia, Jan 13 2009, 08:05 PM.

General Tibathian was not shaken by the news of the MJOLNIR cannon being unleashed against the Wall. Part of his drives to force the Dominion into smaller groups was to make the Ulganian soldiers more separated. Now that the cannon had actually been fired, the amount of scrap metal would grow, and continue to grow . All he could do now was hope decidedly heavy amount of close quarters combat, and increased reliance on close range bombardments would be enough to keep the Dominion from firing it at the front line. Any attack of that sort would mean Dominion losses as well. This was, however, a sign that Tibathian was waiting for. If the MJOLNIR was not firing at the front line, it would indeed be turned elsewhere. The movement of government officials, documents, and key military information would begin, and be shuffled continuously for however long was needed. The longer the political and military structures were in motion on the human level, the more likely the state would survive. The second phase of these events was the push that would begin. 2.2 million Ulganian soldiers would begin offensive operations as soon as was humanly possible. Only so much could be done to defend against a weapon of the MJOLNIR’s magnitude, but with a continuous war waged on every level against East Ziyer using it would cost a greater deal of damage to both sides. Minimizing the effects of something of that magnitude was gravely important. The second massive gun, the Zanzibar Gun would be much more costly in actual human numbers. Tibathian would see to that as soon as the time came to launch the true counter offensive. --- In the west, the army marching from Flumes was slowly encroaching closer and closer to the area deemed as the dead zone. Tibathian considered whether or not they could see the out of season storm clouds yet, or if they had noticed the slight cooling of temperature it was causing. He had also ordered another temporary measure to be taken, which would be to have a sulfur-based compound be spread into the atmosphere to literally deflect sunlight and see to the cooling of the air. Psychological and inoculate environmental warfare would only go so far, but if it gave the armies from South Ziyer pause, even for a moment, then Tibathian would be successful. The reinforcements to the remaining Metz strongholds had arrived. 100,000 soldiers, while enough to overwhelm lighter forts still saw heavy resistance in the Ulganian held territory of Metz. The combat troops, when concentrated packed the same punch as the Dominion’s. Receiving 100,000 in reinforcements would see to the restoration of order, and the development of a rebellion-free Metz would ensure Ulgania’s southern frontier would remain stable. -- In Ulgania’s northern holdings, General Mateljan new he was fighting a losing battle. Reports of pilots needing to eject were becoming more and more frequent, but so far the offensive sorties were not locating Zeelar’s munitions depots or Sahndaq’s factories. Airfields were indeed being ravaged, but Federation pilots were not giving up yet. It would still take some time for the longer range flights to have any impact, but it was becoming increasingly apparent that, despite the Zeelari Garrison’s burgeoning ranks. An alternative route would be needed sooner than later, but it appeared that a consolidated defense of Sahndaq would need to take priority. Sahndqai forces still had swinging power, but would not be able to aid Menhad as long as Morrocon stood between them, and Sennar. Events would have to wait for the inevitable in East Ziyer. Mateljan did view the events in Paradise with unease. He saw mile after mile of the mighty power fall further into obscurity. The fight for the Red Sea would prove pivotal sooner than later. Even if it had not concluded, Mateljan knew a corridor would be needed for a path of retreat. Every inch may be under fire, but it would be an option. |

The MJOLNIR was recharging as quickly as it could, but would still take a day before it could fire again, as it had also moved out of orbit since the last time it fired. In the meantime, the Zanzibar Gun began firing with total impunity, knowing its own time was growing short. Using MOAB shells, the supergun began bombarding Menhadien and Zeelari-Sahndaqi population centers with a destructive force not seen in such a small period of time without nuclear weapons present. However, such rapid succession of fire without the recommended cool-down period for the cannon's barrel was beginning to take its toll as the cannon began to warp. Also, the liquid coolant reserves at the Jupiter Complex were fast depleting, causing periodic structual damage to the eight cold fusion reactors that were powering the entire province plus the cannon. This was done on purpose, for the cannon was not to fall back to Kasnyian control, though the weapon had originally been theirs. The remnant Dominion forces in East Ziyer intended on destroying the whole works, though not until the Ulganians arrived. Until then, they would relentlessly destroy as much of the enemy as they could before then. ------------ Elsewhere, the bombing campaign continued without pause, keeping the enemy at bay. |

Moving against the Dominion line was difficult as ever. The attack had barely pushed a few miles back from the wall as the counter-offensive against East Ziyer forces knew that their fight would be a losing one, but one that would make them heroes. They were trying to gain as much time as possible to keep the Zanzibar Gun safe, but as the hours wore on and hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of soldiers continued to press onward against them the tide of battle began to turn. Even as distant as Ulgania’s frontier-lands the distant BOOM could be heard every time it fired. Every time, Ulganian soldiers knew friends were dying. Every time it fired, Dominion soldiers knew another strategic target was being demolished. Commander Isen was in the midst of some very heavy fighting. His missile launching vehicles were moving ahead to keep up with what the infantry at the front needed. His Mechanized Infantry units, 5000 soldiers in total were giving it there all against a large garrison of Dominion troops that had blasted their way up to their defensive perimeter. A full division of reinforcements were on the way to overrun the Dominion line, but Isen was going to run out of ammunition before they would arrive. “Get Captain Thrace on the line,” he said to a sergeant nearby. Thrace was a confident soldier, but AWACS showed her entire unit being encircled. “Captain Thrace, listen, I’m getting support to you. We haven’t forgotten about you yet,” he said. Typically using codenames over the line was mandatory, but at this point one name over another would have little significance. On the front, Thrace had pulled her unit to the top of a small hill. A few soldiers were firing 130 mm mortars towards a line of armor that wasn’t able to get a firing solution on them, but would soon. “NO, aim for the first one in the line. With this terrain they won’t be able to go around it!” Thrace barked after getting off the line with Isen. “We did that a few minutes ago. End result? Other tanks roll right over it,” a soldier said. “Then pack up people. We’re getting off this hill. Our orders are to get somewhere safe until we’re extracted. If they’re sending an entire line of armor after just us then I don’t want to think of what this area’s going to look like after our reinforcements arrive…” Trailing off as they moved out, they headed south by about a mile before stopping. They were in a shrubby area, with a lot of areas to hide and make kill-zones. It wasn’t long before the armor found them and they were firing mortars again though, but the distant sound of choppers from the south made Thrace’s heart jump. She looked up, and saw them coming towards her. For a moment she felt hopeful, but that was only until they began to fire on her position. Dominion attack-choppers had encircled their position, and were going to cut them to pieces. No rockets had been fired, but several .50 cal Gatling guns were ripping their cover to pieces. After only a few moments a larger, distant rumbling could be felt. A whistling sound from overhead erupted as several rockets rained down on the tanks. Meanwhile, a dozen Ulganian helicopters arrived, and made quick work of the 4 encircling choppers. Thrace cheered, but sat back down when the choppers finished off the armor, and continued on. Seeing three more choppers heading to the position made her feel better. Two transports and a support helicopter brought them back to the front. --- 50 ships had moved from Ulgania-Proper, covering several transports. From there they traveled until they were back within the naval umbrella already established around the key points for the operation. The bombardment of Dominion positions in Sennar from the sea had yet to stop, and the coastal areas were charred from ongoing missile attacks. Menhad’s coastal area was still clear, in that any Dominion column that would go within range of the umbrella was bomber, and any fighter plane or bomber would suffer as defensive sorties continued. Ulganian soldiers would not move into Sennar yet, but would work to get a torrent of supplies, ammunition, and general humanitarian aid into the country first. Then a two-pronged assault would begin, as Ulganian forces marched off from fortified positions in Sahndaq and Zeelar around Morrocon which had been placid throughout the conflict, but still a major threat. Special-Operations missions had been carried out to support the Orthodox Church, which was ardently and militantly against the Dominion, and already taking fiery stances against the state. It was clear that an old ally such as Morrocon would be a target soon, but the Ulganian forces in charge of keeping a potential threat at bay were saddened by the thought of having to fight such a strong-spirited, former ally. General Mateljan has assumed command of all attacks against Sennar. Any Ulganian sent in there would have a 40% survival rate, but as long as the Morrocon Church was able to survive, Sennar would be effectively surrounded. Dominion air strikes continued to berate Ulganian forces and cripple Menhadian, but the encroachment policy would soon begin to pay off. --- Fighting in Metz had intensified, but Dominion soldiers were being held tightly. At this point they were outnumbered 2-1 by Ulganian combat troops, and if anything did happen the Metz army itself would be called upon to assist. --- Coming in from South Ziyer, the approaching Dominion forces beginning to feel the impact of missile strikes in the colder temperatures. OOC: Not sure where you wanna go with the South Ziyer army. |

With the nation finding as much stability aas it could with the current war entering the nations bounderies, the new king had new orders for its highest ranked General. General Nelson was summoned to a private meeting with the king, and any other military advisors tht General Nelson wished to be present. With this select group of people, discussions about wat to do about this next war within their nation began. The soldiers within the army were now experianced soldiers, with a fierce attitude towards enemies, and a strong sense of national pride. Both the General and the King came to the conclusion that should Ulgania fail within the borders, then our army woul fail as well. The only way to assist in this war was to send a small force to defend their own country, as well as help Ulgania with the defense of the country. A message was sent to Ulgania informing them that a small contigent of Metzian soldiers was prepared for combat within Metz borders, and is eagerly awaiting direction from the Ulganian Millitary command within Metz. The Metzian war front would not be lost to the enemy. |

This came as great news to General Tibathian. State and military representatives in Metz City were already setting out to meet with General Nelson. Edna Madzongwe was the chief military adviser at the Ulganian embassy in Metz. Upon hearing the news she relayed a series of orders sent straight from Desert Command. Tibathian wanted action as quickly as possible, and it was left to her to coordinate the next moves in Metz. She made an appointment as quickly as she could to meet with General Nelson. She had decided to herself that the best way to deploy the Metz soldiers would be to surround the remaining Dominion soldiers. The discussion would commence as soon as possible though. |

OOC- We might have to begin assuming RP for Morrocon until CNNP comes back, as this is starting to look silly.... IC- What was left of the East Ziyer Corps retreated further north to protect the Zanzibar Gun and her powerplant, readying the eight nearby reactors to overload and go into meltdown as soon as the Ulgan forces were deep within the blast radius. With no civillians in the province, it was easier to move about and prevent hold ups that non-military personel often created. That said, the EZC was never large enough to withstand a full scale invasion in anycase, so the men were proud of all they did in the mean time. The South Ziyer Army was different. It was built for invasion and was now using its full might against Metz and western Ulgania, forcing them both on their backfoot. The orders of the Dominion SZA were simple; assault and destroy. If they happened to capture territory in the mean time, so be it. But that was a distant secondary goal to that of simply keeping their enemies busy as the Dominion African Air Fleet madet heir focus on the north African territories in an effort to assist the Paradise campaign. The sudden counters against Dominion forces moving from Sennar were surprising in their ferocity to Field Marshal Karelberg, but the Arabian Sea Fleet had just sent another flotilla to engage the 50 piece Ulganian fleet. Indeed, with the DNS Gregarious Vallahalla Mk. II leading a fleet of 65 destroyers and heavy cruisers, plus two carriers, the Dominion had the full intention of wiping Ulgania out from assisting the Menhadien coast defense against Karelberg's land offensive. Already, the Gregarious was preparing her opening salvo of anti-ship rockets, as was custom for a ship of her power.... On the land, the Sennari defenses were reinforced by local militias as the Dominion security forces made a push against any potential staging points near their borders, creating a fresh surge of troops all along the border. |

With General Nelson arriving quickly at the Ulganian Embassy within the capital city, he introduced himself to Tibathian kindly. They immediatly went to a room to sit and create a plan of action. So far there was a small force of Metz soldiers, all of which who were well supplied, rejuvunated, and eager to spill the blood of any enemy on Metz soil. General Nelson stated that he wanted to remain in control of his men, and have a say in the final orders of his men, but that he understood that Ulgania knew exactly what was going on in the front. He sat back as Tibathian began to speak about what was to happen.... |

OOC: General Tibathian isn’t making his presence known to anyone for a while. I’ll post as though you’re talking to the top advisor in Metz. IC: Edna Madzongwe found that locating General Nelson was easier than expected. He had proven to be very accessible. “General, it is wonderful to finally meet you,” she said. “Let me get right to business. Your forces are still weak. The fighting against the rebels was tantalizing, but the forces down here that are attacking Ulganians, the Dominion, are seeing better equipped and more professionally experienced than the rebels. “I want you to start deploying your troops along the coast,” she said. “That way we can keep the Dominion troops from escaping. It may sound brutal, but I know full well they will never surrender. Once those forces are spent we will need to redeploy to your western border. The Dominion is planning an advance on your border, and there’s only going to be so much Desert Command in Ulgania can do. The army will be outmatching us, but we can call for reinforcements,” she said. |

General Nelson was honored to finally be able to have his men be lead to help his country win their freedom once again. With the advice of Edna, General Nelson began to prepare his men and move them according to plan. He set up his men along the coast of the nation, covering everywhere except where the cliffs met the ocean furiusly. "Edna, I will organize my men quickly. By the nezt week or so, I will also have another grup of men, smaler than what I have, but they will be able to reinforce the coast non-the-less. I shall keep in contact with you and others via this number, should you need me for anything else that should not be known to the public." General Nelson handed her the card, and then sent word to his advisors to begin movement to the coast. He then asked if there was anything else that was needed as of now.... After reciving orders from General Nelsons advisors, the men were quickly set into action, grabbing their gear and packs, they began to march next to the machenery they were able to make...so far just 50 tanks, artillery so ships would not be able to bombard the coast too easily, and some SAM missiles to protect their troops from an air attack. Hopefully by the next week, another group of men, although smaller than the first, would be healed and retrained and able to reinforce the coast to make the wall even stronger, as well as bring in a bit more equipment. Some men, who had lost everything but their own life, mouned a machine gun into their truck, or took the abondoned machines from the other rebels into their own control. Some men seemed ragedy and poor in appearance, but these men would be quick to show thats its the mentality and spirit within men that will win a war..... |

As per orders from the Dominion, Telosanti naval forces disembarked from Telosan Africa and Telosan Asia. 6 fleets, totaling about 56 ships converged on the East African coast. There they hunted down Ulganian naval forces. Upon finding them, they opened up at the longest effective range, all the while sailing closer. Since it was highly unlikely that the entire Ulganian naval force was in its territory, submarine wolfpacks set out all around the South Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and the Mediterranean. They attacked military ships, transports, cargo ships, etc, so long as they could be associated with Ulgania or it's allies. When not engaged in a naval battle, ship-to-coast missles were launched on Ulgania's coastal cities. While many would be shot down before they could hit, and the ones that did hit wouldn't cause severe damage, there would be the fear that they could strike land at all. |

The war effort had been costly thus far. The remaining naval assets in the Atlantic had officially been dispatched, but Ulgania would still have an answer and a counter. Three new carrier groups had been commissioned, and had been near completion. The news of attacks from Telosan was grave news, but the missile attacks on Ulgania’s port cities demanded a response. Three carriers, 36 destroyers, 24 submarines, 18 frigates, and 24 cruisers were dispatched into the Indian Ocean to hunt, engage, and destroy the Telosan fleet elements. The nation had been at odds with Ulgania for some time as it was, due to the colony in Africa that had yet to conform to the Declaration on African Colonialism. Ulgania’s response had been to lock trade on the continent and to force an economic crisis, but with aid from the Dominion doing so had never been a real solution. The 100+ ship armada would begin to locate the Telosan ships immediately, and with help from satellite imagery locate them en masse with long range cruisers firing at full bore. While, like with the strikes on Ulganian cities, most were shot down it gave Ulgania enough time to reorganize and prepare for an organized charge. As well, in the Red Sea naval operations in the northern areas closer to the Canal were moving more and more into Ulgania’s favor. The Dominion’s fighting ability in the area had been crippled, and unable to get through with the new Roman threat, the fleet became otherwise completely pinned and unable to move. Moving south, the fleet that had moved up from Ulgania had taken heavy fire, but the transports had remained intact. The larger fleet umbrella had been able to protect them, and despite heavy fighting the coastal areas of Menhad were becoming more secured. As the days passed, and the larger scale fighting in the Sea had started to die down, more of the Ulganian fleet would be redeployed to try and contain the Sea itself. Increasing operations in the South would be another way to contain Sennar, as well. |

Though the Dominion was unable to breach the Red Sea due to heavy Roman presence (at the moment anyway), it made sure the Gulf of Aden, Horn of Africa, and the sealanes near the Menhadien coast remained under its control. With Telosan's entry into the theater, the entirety of the Ulganian Navy was now deployed, and would not be able to further reinforce their numbers themselves. As such, an active naval blockade was put into place near Madagascar, to protect the coast of East Ziyer as well as to prevent the Ulganians from moving north. At the same time, another carrier group was sent to strike at the southern Ulganian ports and harbors, and would be within striking distance shortly. The Gregarious continued to sink lesser ships as it kept larger vessels at arms length. Another fleet would soon be sent the Cape of Good Hope to assit Telosanti forces engaging the enemy. |

OOC: Declaration on African Colonialism? I never even heard of that. I'll have to look around for it. For the reinforcements arriving at the Zanzibar gun, I'm assuming it's location is now known because of its repeated firing. The point of origin should have been easily determined at this point. Though Telosan would mostly be involved in this war by sea, they resolved to reinforce Dominion land forces as well. In East Ziyer, more specificaly the Zanzibar gun, Telosanti snipers were flown in and set into strong positions, as they had proven very effective in defending other positions previously. Engineers and scienstists were sent to assist with the gun itself, and learn what they could about it. In the other land theaters, troops were unloaded a little behind the front and moved up. They would follow the Dominions orders directly, along with the planes that had brought them there. --------------------------------------- The Ulganian response was fierce and swift, unexpected for a country fighting on multiple fronts. Since thier time was likely limited, the fleets stayed relatively close to the coast, launching missles on and off sporadicaly. By night, mines we dropped carefully behind them. Whenever coming in range of an Ulganian naval force, Telosanti ships would fire ship-to-ship missles while fleeing out of range if the opposing fleet was larger. If smaller or equal, they pounded it with whatever missles they could get off. Submarines prowled the seas, taking thier toll on shipping and military movements. Still with the successes came losses, and taking the fight to them was riskier and costlier than fighting at home. 4 more fleets would arrive tommorow, bombarding the coast. |

The King of Metz was happy, but still not content with his nations progress. They had completed 90% of the rebuilding process already, with only outer, minor cities still needing some repairs. This meant that with all of the training facilities and factories remade, they could begin to train mass amounts of people and fix the rest of the machines by the end of the week. The numbers that the nation could place into action by military means would now become a reality, if only they had the finances needed to do so. The king thought to himself and came up with a simple solution. If Ulgania would be able to send the money needed into their coffers as soon as possible, then the Metz Military, which had the capabilities of equaling the might of the Ulganians, could be created with haste. Not only would this lead to a much better defense of The Kingdom of Metz, but a better defense of Ulgania and even a better outcome to the war itself. The King sent an urgent message to the leaders of Ulgania within Metz and Ulgania in order to ensure a quick and speedy response, and hopeful delivery of finances. The King was eager to hear of a response. |

Ulganian financial assets, which had blossomed since the acquisition of the economically powerful Zeelar and Sahndaq had improved substantially. Getting needed aid to the nation of Metz was very easy to accomplish. Chancellor Valentine was more than happy to see to the appropriation.
Monetary aid was wired to the nation over secure channels, and preparations were made for the further movement of goods and services. -- The dockyards on Ulgania-Proper’s coastal areas were being hit, but not irrevocably. Population centers were being struck hard, but preperations had been long in the making, and implemented first in the civil war, and now again as the remaining Telosan vessels and increased Dominion vessels launched rockets. The dockyards were very busy though, repairing and rebuilding vessels with great urgency. A proper counterattack would not be ready for some time, as over 1000 of Ulgania’s vessels were tied up in the Red Sea, securing the waterway and attacking any Dominion formation that tried to pass by the Horn of Africa. Still, the yards were able to keep pace with a minimal defense to hold the Ulganian coast. Should the Dominion push towards a coastal assault though, the lines would not hold, and a ground war would be fought with great urgency. General Tibathian had considered the implications of such a war. Limited deployments had been made to the coast, considering the use of the MJOLNIR Cannon. A counterattack could be done properly as soon as any landing was attempted, as the Dominion would most likely reframe from using the Cannon on too many of its own assets. -- Elsewhere, the Zanzibar Gun had become one of the few remaining targets on the East Ziyer Theater. With the limited Ulganian naval presence fighting for the coast, it appeared that a route of escape was still possible for the remaining EZC forces entangled in the fighting. The Zanzibar Gun, while an extraordinary asset to the Ulganians would most likely be destroyed before forces could get within site. OOC: Kas, ever play Ace Combat 4? And Metz, anything you want/need/would like to do with Ulganian assistance, don’t be afraid to let me know! |

OOC- Nope, never played it. And do note that the East Ziyeri coastline has yet to be breached from the seaside. Dominion has established a naval blockade from the southern tip of Madagascar to Africa. IC- The South Ziyer Army was moving in with more gusto. The first wave had placed their enemies on the backfoot, but only temporarily, and they were already rebuilding. The Dominion commanders decided that would be the last time they had that chance. In inclusion to the heavy airstrikes, they also decided to throw their heavy armor into the fray as well, supported by assault infantry and light vehicles. And so, before the first wave had even finished, the second wave came in to scour the enemy lands of Metz and Ulgania. Metz, being the weaker nation, could not hold their lines and had to end reconstruction efforts immediately to conserve strength with guerilla tactics. On the Ulganian front, it was harsher. Every city the Dominion got its hands on was utterly annhilated, with their populations either murdered or captured, the latter being shipped en masse behind the front lines to be sent to the various slave factories located a safe distance away from the fighting. Those too injured, young, or old on the other hand, were shipped to the dreaded Nimh Facility, where Dr. Camizu would have his way with them. Still others, a markedly small minority, accepted Dominion overlordship and were sent elsewhere to be placed in the conscript armies that were often used for cannon fodder. More reinforcements would come soon enough. With Telosanti support, South Africa would be contained. ------------- In East Ziyer, the reactors were primed to detonate as soon as it was possible. The remnants of the EZC continued to fight hard against the Ulganians using Guerilla tactics, killing ten for every one of their own that died, and significantly slowing down their advance as they moved north. This was thus far the only territorial loss the Dominion had to endure, and they intended for it to be a painful, if not totally pyhrric victory for the Ulganians. --------------- Field Marshal Jan Karelberg quietly moved anti-ship batteries into north Sennar, which began firing against the North Sea defenders with gusto. Using this for cover, the Dominion Navy retook its positions past the Horn and established their own line-breaking patterns against the Red Sea defenders. If they could not move northward, which was seen as increasingly obvious, they would not let them move southward, lest the give up the entirety of the Red Sea. |
