OOC- I ain't really RPing unless there is a warship involved, eh? IC-
OOC- If you intend on supporting Alexanderhaven, and want a contemporary battleship, make your bids. Eight ships are for sale. |

The Star of Alexandria, the Star of Jerusalem, and the Star of Constantinople have been sold for an undisclosed sum to the Emirate of Al Qalaa. The ships have begun their journey to the Persian Gulf for delivery. OOC- Assume the price was high, but reasonable. |

Although not formally allied with Alexanderhaven, the Federation of American States would like to purchase 3 Star-class battleships, as well as enter negotiations with JaHa Werft for the blueprints or complete models of other capital ships, in an effort to expand its peacetime maritime force.

OOC- Depends on which class you are asking about. If you mean the Star-class, not anything discernable apart from the fact that it was once the workhorse capital ship of Bahenau's navy. Its not the fastest in the world, nor the most heavily armed, but it ranks up there in armor strength (when compared to similar class/size warships) and its reliability is second to none (again, among the similar classes worldwide). The Saint-class on the other hand is almost a revolutionary design, taking the best of the Star-class (reliability) and marrying it with a combination of new classified oil-fired (diesel) engines and coal-fired boilers to make up the powerplant (in a classified configuration), allowing the ship to go relatively fast for its size. Its size (one of the biggest in the world at the moment), which focuses a bit on length, but mostly in width, allows for it to be a stable platform for its arsenal. The arsenal (currently) consists of a single main turret with three guns at 12 in. caliber, four secondary turrets, each with a 5 in. cannon, and six gatling heavy gun turrets for close encounters. The designers did this with eventual expansion in mind as gun technology advances. IC, no one knows of the inner workings of the ship outside of the Alexanderhaven military. IC- To the Empire of the Romans, your ships will be delivered to the port of Trezibond at once. The Byzantine Star, the Iberium Star, and the Caucasian Star are at your command. To the FAS, I do apologize that we can only offer you the two remaining ships, the Star of the Atlantic, and the Star of Exodus for sale. However, As representatives of JaHa Werft, we would be only too happy to encourage a new working relationship between ourselves and your country. We also suggest taking a look at ZUPAG, which is our wholly owned shipping subsidiary to the West for any deals on cargo and passenger travel. OOC- Assume the price is high, but fair. Anything regarding ZUPAG (or BROPAG for that matter), post in the dedicated thread. Edited by Kasnyia, Jan 1 2009, 11:57 AM.

OOC: I hate to be that guy, Kas, but I posted the invention of the diesel engine in the News thread on the 16th, and with Kiev's urging I added:
The think tank that I lobbied too seemed to think that it was too early for an applicable diesel engine, and I think it still is. I would love to RP a collaboration to get it out sooner, though. IC: Al Qalaa's three new battleships steamed under Alexanderhaven's flag through Constantinople and the Suez, to avoid any political uneasiness on either side, arriving in Al Qalaa a few weeks later. There the ships were decomissioned and had their colors stricken.. The Alexanderhaven crews were treated to a week in the Eternal City, then shipped by rail back home. It was short order after that, then, to paint each ship the dark gray of the Emir's Navy, refitted to service conditions, and at last recomissioned. The Star of Alexandria became the QNS Sa'd Al-Qalaa, (Star of the Citadel) Jerusalem, QNS Sa'd Al-Islamey, (Star of the Faith) and Constantinople the QNS Sa'd As-Saif (Star of the Sword). OOC- It isn't Diesel per se, I was just equating the fuel OOC. The actual engine is something more akin to an oversize internal combustion engine. Also, even if it WAS a diesel engine, it is possible to invent similar products in different countries (each slightly different in their own way of course). IC- The two remaining ships were sent full steam to the port of Miami, where it would arrive in a few days time. |

OOC: Alright, I'll let consensus decide whether this is acceptable, but if it is, I claim right to a similar engine. We might end up with an industrial-espionage situation. |

OOC- I'm not interested in a patent war to be honest. Lets just say we independantly developed the engines in question. IC- That information is classified to non-clients. |

OOC: Ah, you already sold 'em all. IC: Message from Angelcynn: Our navy has great use for such a battleship, and we, though they've all been sold, would like to inquire to the construction time of any new ships of this line. Should no ship be in construction, the government of Angelcynn is willing to pay for the materials and labor required to build up to 4 of these ships. Good Day, Cyng William |

The Grand Duke has granted JaHa Werft, due to high demand, to allow seven of the remaining eight ships of the Star-Class to be put on the market, with the Star of Ambero being kept for historical and sentimental purposes. To replace these vessels in the Alexanderhaven Fleet, JaHa Werft will begin commissioned to construct four more vessels for the Saint-class, to be named the St. Augustine, the St. Joseph, St. Mary, and St. Andrew The following ships are now for sale- The Star of the Dardenelles The Star of the Bosphorus The Star of Azov The Star of the Aral Sea The Star of the Caspian The Star of the Black Sea The Star of Anatolia |
