Nag, the only problem with that is that the PI investigates at night, and thus would be taking as blind a guess as anyone else this morning. |

Harumf couldn't take his eyes off the bartender - cute, he thought, in a whimsical sort of way. He also looked around at the others, rating them all from one to ten, except, of course, the woman, he didn't take any notice of her. He walked toward the bar, looked into the dark eyes of the bartender, and said, "excuse me, but would you mind setting me up with an Irish Coffee, I need an eye-opener." The bartender began pouring the drink, then Harumf said, "you know, this might be a risky night to be alone in your room, and I have this big suite all to myself - if you'd like, you could stay with me, much less likely for any trouble to befall us if we are, well, sharing a bed, if you get my drift." With that, he gave the sexiest, come-f&%k-me wink he could muster! As he waited for the bartender's response, he noticed that several people we talking, mostly defending themselves as to why they couldn't be the killer. All he could think of was the line from Shakespeare, about "protesting too much." |

The bartender, Lebowski, had only begun his shift a few minutes ago, but he could see that the night ahead would be a dangerous one, in more ways than one. He smiled politely, and said "I wish I could take you up on your offer, but I'm afraid that I should stay in my own room here, alone, so that the, uh, springs in the bed don't freeze or something." He then quickly prepared an irish coffee, and made a mental note to remember this strange encounter for future analysis. "But then again" he thought, "I've never met a murderer who drinks irish coffee." VOTE: NO ONE Unless someone has a good argument (I don't see how that could possibly be) I'll be voting that we wait and gather info. |

I like that we have two bartenders. I wonder if one is going to be like Lloyd the bartender in The Shining. |

OOC: Are we playing with a cult? And am I allowed to be armed? I figured I'd be up at the lodge to do some hunting. On the second floor dining area, Telosan leaned on the railing, watching the group argue. There was a killer on the loose. Maybe more than one. As he sipped his tea, he ran through a quick list. No way out, supplies limited, and trust as weak as dissent was strong. Not much we can do the first night, or even the second. He pulled out a notebook. Keeping notes of any suspicious activity would definatly help. He glanced over to the bar and saw Harmuf talking to the bartender. After overhearing a bit of the conversation, he sat back. That was interesting. Though not exactly a reason to kill someone. One by one, he scanned the room and wrote down notes on everyone. What he knew, what he thought, and whatever might help later on. Then, the conversation began to go against Huesca. If it continued this way he might not be sleeping naturally tonight. He spoke up. "You know, we really don't need to kill anyone. Listening to what you say, I've yet to hear any good reason why Huesca is suspicious. While I have suspicions of my own, they're not enough to kill a man for it. I say we bring whatever we need for the night into the main room and, if we have enough supplies, keep the fire burning through the night. We can take shifts watching the group." "We know there's a killer here, maybe two or three. Maybe half of us are killers. Staying up on shifts we might have only murderers watching us, but then we'd know who they are if they say they saw nothing and someone's dead. We need to stay sharp, and think logicaly. Randomly pointing out someone and the rest of you following along is not going to get us anywhere." At that, he returned to his tea, watching the group react. |

Harumf looked up, and saw Telosan - hmm, a bit butch, but he might do on a cold night. "I second that. Let's all snuggle up here, and take turns keeping watch!" He looked toward the other bartender, knowing who he'd be watching. |

Mr. Diogenes sighed. The idea of letting the killers act with impunity while they took no retaliation offended his sensibilities. But he could not ignore the arguments being made. Person after person got up and insisted that they would take no part in any kind of "mob justice." Was this a humane and rational sensibility, aimed at preventing further loss of human life? Or was it a hidden and nefarious conspiracy, to catch the just unaware and allow the killer or killers to kill again? Or was it neither, and merely some kind of bleeding heart hogwash: the killer seen as a "victim" instead of the depraved monster that he is? Finally, he resigned himself. He had talked to some of fellow lodgers, learned a bit about them, and felt that many of them were decent folk who could not be involved in any of this wickedness. They were right that organizing a lynch could likely harm an innocent, but was not as optimistic as them that the new day would necessarily help them make a new decision. Finally, he broke his silence and stood up to resume speaking. "Well, I've been listening, and I am forced to concede that y'all are right. Maybe I let myself get all irrational, and didn't use my head. As much as I don't want to let the killer kill again, I guess we should not be aiding his work either. But, I do insist that we cannot let the killer or killers simply pick us off one by one without fighting back. We can take today to mourn, and to think, and to try to figure out what we can, but we cannot continue this course forever." After speaking, Mr. Diogenes sat back down, ready to listen and to watch, and ready to take the measure of every man who spoke that day. UNVOTE: HUESCA VOTE: NO ONE |

Although I still suspect RD more than any other person here, I cannot alone, in good conscience, be responsible for his lynching without getting more information. I therefore remove my vote for him. Unvote: RD Vote: No one RD, be aware though that I will be watching your behavior very closely. Any suspect move will be noted and considered for this day or the upcoming days. |

The European raver, Tristan da Cunha, spoke. "We currently have 17 people alive. Let us err on the side of caution and assume there are *two* killers in our midst: the mafia (1/4 of 17 or, 4 people) and a serial killer. This means 5/17 people are guilty. "Tomorrow morning we will find 2 people dead, resulting in a ratio of 5/15. Although I agree that today 5/17 are not good odds for lynching a guilty man, I predict that tomorrow we will again be beset by inaction and conclude that 5/15 are ALSO not good odds. Does that mean we will also not lynch tomorrow? "I am beginning to see the reasoning behind Mr Diogenes' proposal to vote a lynch today. "I therefore vote against Mr. Diogenes himself!" Tristan winked at the man with the Greek name. Vote: RD |

Sir, I must disagree with you wholeheartedly. You forget that one amongst us is a Detective, and he may be able to tell us something tomorrow, thus further reducing the odds. |

Mr. Diogenes nodded as Huesca spoke. Turning to the shady Portuguese raver Tristan da Cunha, he spoke quietly, "I was concerned about the same problem as you, that paralyzed by statistics, we would not take any action against the killers. But I have withdrawn my accusation against Huesca precisely for the reason that he has voiced, that we will have more information tomorrow. Nag said that there is a private investigator, and we do not want to accidently kill him tonight. So I have deferred to the rest of our group who wish to take the more cautious approach." He was not entirely sure whether to trust Huesca, but he no longer held any animus against Huesca, understanding the reasoning he had employed. But the fickle Tristan... seemingly so eager to kill anyone or noone at all, just to end the day... he seemed less than trustworthy. Finally, Mr. Diogenes turned toward Paradise:"I could not, in good conscience, be one pushing for a lynching when the rest were seeking not to lynch. I saw the logic in your arguments, and that is why I have changed my position. Feel free to scrutinize me as closely as you like. I have nothing to hide." |

"There is only a 5/17 chance that the PI will identify a guilty man (or woman), and a 12/17 chance that the PI will merely increase the odds of a correct lynch from 5/15 to 5/14. Furthermore, how will the PI be able to notify the rest of us of his findings without endangering his own life? I propose we tally a lynch vote TODAY, and see how the proceedings may unearth more evidence. If, as you propose, 9 people consecutively vote 'No One' and hastily put an end to the day's discussion, additional evidence will not surface today, and the mafia will be protected with a wall of silence." The Eurotrash raver was exasperated by what he saw as the incompetent Americans in the lodge and muttered incoherent curses directed at George W. Bush, the Iraq War, and Condollezza Rice.

The 18-year-old Claire Freedhelm, wearing a hooded fur coat and short-cropped hair, had up until this point managed to disguise herself as an effeminate male. She had sat quietly in a corner of the main room, watching and listening as the others loudly discussed the previous night's murder, made accusations, unmade them, and occasionally flirted with each other. She found all of it terribly amusing, having smoked a bowl of hash just a couple of hours prior, and found herself giggling girlishly at the thought of the dandy Harumf strangling Raf with a phone cable. |

The Eurotrash raver caught sight of the tomboyish adolescent girl and got an erection. He hurried to his room to retrieve the date rape drugs he packed in his suitcase, but after a desperate search could not find them. "Dammit" He thought. "Must've lost them at the airport in Denver!" He angrily kicked the bedstand and screamed in pain for his toe. Finally he calmed down enough and drowned out his sorrows with a shot of cocaine and sullenly returned to the common area. |

Sedulius had been silent at the bar this whole time, downing one shot after another of whiskey, observing those arguing, as well as the others hanging back. He noticed the odd European glance at the girl, who Sedulius had long before singled out, and then dashing off suspiciously. He then remembered the fact that this man was quite the bloodthirsty type, immediately jumping on the bandwagon with the Greek to kill Huesca, and immediately turning against the Greek when he changed his vote. When the odd man came back, Sedulius immediately went about antagonizing him. Sedulius spoke with a cold, harsh voice. "Hey you. Yeah you, scum. What is your purpose here?" |

Tristan da Cunha did not reply or acknowledge the man who approached him. He behaved as if the man did not even exist. He ordered a port at the bar and munched on some peanuts before heading over to the big screen TV with his glass of wine. He turned the channel to a Spanish league football game. |

EDIT- OOC: Posted the same time as TC. This wouldn't be a proper response to his. IC: Sedulius responded politely to Bill. "Respectfully, I realize this, but something about this man isn't right." "Well, of course there's something wrong with the man! He's high as a kite, just look at his eyes. But that's neither here nor there. The last thing we want is to provoke an altercation here. Suppose the man is the killer and pulled a knife on you. Now, I realize you seem to be a tough man, but whoever the killer, or killers may be, overpowered Mr. Raf, and he appeared equally tough. Claire couldn't tell if the hash was making her paranoid or if the two men by the bar were actually talking about her, but she was sure she noticed their furtive glances and gestures in her direction. This made her more than a little uneasy, but she felt the cold steel of the handgun inside her coat pocket and this calmed her down. |

Slowly the effects of the cocaine wore off and Tristan downed the last gulp of his wine. He fondled the clammy plastic dildo inside his coat pocket and this calmed him down. He turned to the others and reminded them to vote a lynch. "Currently we have one vote to lynch RD and one vote to lynch TC. Do not end the day yet. Switch your votes from 'No One' to *someone*. We need to think hard about yesterday night's events and think this through." |
