All I want is to start at a turning point: 1097 - Right before the Crusades 1491 1772 1850 1910 1937 1946 Any of those dates would be great, because the subsequent change in the world would automatically cause conflict. We don't need the real historical people that acted as catalist either, we can go with having our own Popes, Columbis, Adams, Watt, Lenins, Hitlers or Oppenheimer - or Galalios, Darwins, St. Augistines, Voltaires, etc. etc. etc. to move things forward. We just have to do it at a steady pace, and, sure, someone might invent the steam engine, but that doesn't mean we can't all read their books!! The only reason for NOT moving forward to a new technology would be because you choose to rp it that way. |

I'm strongly against the tech and time advance, as for this forum the new, whatever era we will chose, should remain locked to a same technology level. Innovation should be only RPG style like a supergun, a big-big-big zeppelin or so on |

I would think it'd be quite funny, and might roll with it, depending on how well the other player can play it across. You forget the main point of the forum is roleplaying. If I invaded any nation with 5,000 trained riflemen, I would think the civilian resistance would be high no matter what their technology, and they would thus have a chance to win, even were it with just spears. You have to lose sometimes. |

Due to people wanted the technology to stay fixed, I'm going to append a poll in the tech poll thread I started to see whether people want to do that or not. |

Addressing the issue of whether one would simply be able to accept inferiority would be my preference here. Anyone who doesn't follow suite and starts to godmod, or on the other hand doesnt accept defeat in anything, he will soon marginalise himself as countries would not be as willing to RP with him. As for the issue about who gets to develop the technologies, well it can be certain that not 1 country alone can be getting all technologies developed, so once it gets out of hand, we will be the ones who will balance it out. After all, we are mature players, aren't we? |

Well we wouldn't let the situation fall to far into godmodeling. We'd try to fix it. And since war requires permission from both sides, then they can always refuse. |
