From: Schola Saint George
To: Prospective Students

The new semester is nearly here, and we at Schola Saint George are ready to train you to have the skills and philosophy it takes to become a true knight and man of chivalry. If you are coming from abroad, we have quality housing and meals at low rates to serve your needs (just 400 florins a month). Classes start in just one month, so make your preparations and we hope to see you soon!

Attached O.N.S. Statement

The O.N.S. would like to remind prospective students that they are in no way obligated to join the O.N.S. by joining this program. However, you are completely free to do so, and we will provide your food and housing for free if you do so as well as further training. You are not even obligated to serve us in Syria or Eire: you have the option of petitioning us to start an Ordu chapter in your very home country. In any case, we look forward to training alongside you.

A ranking Nagian Officer has expressed an interest in your program. For political reasons, we would rather not recognise this interest publicly. This Officer is already proficient in swordsmanship and wrestling, though not the poleaxe. He is interested in the military training you offer and your way of chivalry and the potential applications thereof.

With relations currently strained between Ireland and the Dominion, we would understand if you did not wish to take on one of our soldier’s for training.

The way see it, these chivalric skills and ways have been lost to the world, and we are slowly but surely restoring them. We see no reason to restrict this even were we at war, and thus we would be happy to welcome your officer into the Schola Saint George. We have no political bias on this matter. And so long as war has not broken out, we really have no problem of him joining any of the other programs should he wish, save the Varangian program for obvious reasons. We understand your wish to keep this discrete, and we will do so, for we have great respect for your nation.

Peace be with you.

The Khartoum, the airship so commonly used in the past by His Royal Highness Devin I Wire, touched down. It was without the fanfare or the over dramatized entrance usually due to it, but, it still arrived. The reliable craft's gray-silver skin glistened in the morning light as ground crews shuffled along its sides, securing its moorings so that the entry way could be opened and the vessel's passenger and guards might be able to evacuate it.

The heir apparent to the Zeelari throne was a slight boy, probably fifteen or sixteen, who had be sent here to receive the education that befit a monarch. Studying abroad was among the finer ways to do this, and this seemed to be among the better places to receive a proper Christian instruction as well.

With his guards standing beside him, he started to walk forwards, staring around. The area had been regrown - an area once touched by war had its swords beaten into plowshares and the mark of battle beat no more. Weary looks danced upon the faces of those he passed by while the architecture itself stood the test of time regardless.

He, himself, was obviously both a Wire and a Zeelari, though his full head of moppy hair had yet to grown in yet. Rather, he had what hair he did possess tied into a ponytail that swung with his motions as he confused gazed at the surroundings, awaiting a meeting.

Sergeant "John Smith" of the Nagian Special Military arrived, cash and identification in hand. His term of leave didn't cover the length of the entire semester: the Dominion's open wars on multiple fronts prevented that. But it was hoped that the training of the Schola Saint George would be beneficial enough to justify more leave. "Smith" did not know how the Irish reacted to drop outs or even the structure of the training: given his already extensive military training, it was entirely concievable that he could complete the program in the time available to him.

"Smith" was, of course, an alias. But his documents were produced by the Nagian Government - his identity was as valid as any citizen of the Dominion's: military record, fingerprints, etc all incorperated into this psdeo-identity that might as well have been a legal name change. The only indication that he was anyone other than what his papers said was his face and the identity chip implanted in his left hand.

With the students moved in, many paying fees for rooms, the semester began. The first class introduced the teachings and techniques of Fiore dei Liberi. Everyone was issued a shirt for regular civilian wear with the Schola Saint George insignia imprinted over the heart on the front, and the sette spade imprinted on the back. They then were issued equipment for the first class, being medieval style pointed boots and a padded gambeson, as well as rebated two handed double-edged swords. They then went straight into the hands on class, learning the stances of the sette spade, and then the first fundemental. The instructor spoke:

Ellefant son e uno castello ho per cargho / E non me inçenochio ni perdo uargho.
"I am the elephant and I have a castle for a burden / And never do I kneel down nor do I lose my true place."

"More or less, this is the fundamental of stability. This must be learned first and practiced constantly. If you wish to excel in this study, your footing must be sure and stable, and your upper body erect and able, just as the elephant stays stable in holding the tower erect. Any questions? If not let us be on to sparring."

OOC: Hope I'm not too late...just found this.

IC: A quiet young student stayed near the front of the class. He did his best and seemed to enjoy every moment at the school. Not many of the students knew much about him, though there were rumors that he was a prince, heir to an empire.

He excelled in many of the classes, particularly ones with the sword and bow. He dressed casual, at least as casual as the heir to an empire would. He stayed at a distance, often carrying on with whatever he was doing without much care to what was around him. He was always completely devoted to the task at hand, never tiring, always striving to do better. If he did not complete a task or do it correctly, he tried again untill it was done right.

The fifteen year old Telosanti heir, Tresoan, was learning.

OOC: Yes, feel free to join in everyone. Feel free to write about sparring matches, to interact with each others characters, etc.

In time I will create characters of my own within the program, such as students and instructors. I realize that eventually duels may arise out of the plotlines, and I ask that you contact me first before doing so. You are free to have a fight break out, but unsanctioned fights can result in students involved being expelled (depending on the severity). I'm not saying I'll do this with every single case, or even most.

Eventually, I may have the instructor call on two students to spar, in which case I will PM you to see if you're up for it.

For questions on classes, please go to this thread.

For information on the RL Schola Saint George, please go here. Classes are more or less as the real ones are, though maybe a bit more brutal eventually. (Though I've been in some of those RL sparring sessions with pollaxes and spears... lets just say being piked in the face several times, even with a helmet, isn't pleasant. Nor is being punched, grappled, and brought to the ground and being choked by the shaft of said pollaxe. :P )

OOC: Wanted to post a nice tidbit of info. This is the code of chivalry my knights would abide by and would be taught in the classes. This was written by Brian Price, whom I have had the fortune to meet before. He actually brought his family over for dinner at our house once. That was 2006, if I remember right.
