Because I like the game, and would like to see people continue to make PC games in the future, and because I want to be able to access online content. |

I need a new graphics card before I buy anymore games. I'll throw in a couple more gigs of RAM too. I don't know if I'd like spore though. I've been trying out a mod Medieval II lately. It's called Deus lo Vult. I'd say it's better than Broken Crescent, but after trying out factions other than Ireland, I was a bit disappointed that everyone starts out with only second level cities and castles (especially when I saw Constantinople with only a wooden wall). On top of this, it is really hard to get off of your feet in the mod. Ireland is perhaps the best example, where you only start out with Cork, and huge rebel armies about the island. And these rebels combine and attack you. On top of that, there are civil wars. The scripting, especially the AI scripting, is completely overhauled, there are more factions, there is local heraldry, all the units' skins are improved, there are new units, and the general's advance somewhat like an RPG character (sort of). I'm probably not listing most of the changes. The mod has some bugs, the main noticeable one being that it exits when you select a third country on the Main Campaign menu. It seems like a major issue at first, but it's not. Just exit the menu if you want to look at more countries. The mod feels nearly impossible at times, which is perhaps the best thing and the worst thing about it. So, if you liked Medieval II, but were a bit disappointed by it, try this out. But I'd say only try it out if you're up for a challenge. |

Spore rocks I just spent two hours fighting the bitchiest empire in my sector, The Wub Empire. I was trying to expand, and they kept attacking my colonies. Eventually me and my allies took them out planet by planet, until finally, only the home planet remained. Unfortunately it was way to defended to do anything - each city had maxed out turrets. We were fucked. So, rather than taking the military route, I decided to be more subtle. I move my ship in there, and start draining the planet of its atmosphere. I got their planet back down to T0, and it was a single city. We then took it out. It felt so rewarding. My victory was complete. |
