When you have 11 million people all subscribing to a single game, your bound to also attract the very... Passionate... elements as well. ... These guys sadden me. :| |

I hike at about... 5km an hour on flats (as long as I'm hiking under 10k)... which is 3 mph... which means I typically hike a half mile in... about 10 minutes. Sure an athletic person could run a mile in less than a minute, but double hiking speed seems a reasonable pace to me. [Edit] For some reason the phrase "one minute mile" was stuck in my head. It seems the world record is 3:43.13. So... sue me. Edited by Nag Ehgoeg, Aug 27 2008, 01:49 PM.

I believe the WORLD RECORD in the mile run is just under 4:00 minutes somewhere, so I don't think anyone would be doing it under a minute soon. 10 minute miles are a good brisk walking pace, so these clowns doing 5 minute half miles are WIMPS! |

I actually found that really cool. I've always said virtual reality would be the death of RPGs, because it would force people to be as physically fit (even if not as strong) as their characters. |

You don't have to run around, with the Wii. I should know. I have it, and I sit my ass down and play metroid prime with the zapper, and that's that. |

Try playing the Kelometer on Wario Ware. Or any of the workout challenges on Wii Fit. Or the fitness challenges on Wii Sport. I like to stand and make slashing motions when I play Zelda and Heroes - even though it's not necessary. And I hear you actually have to swing (Red Steel Style) to fight with the lightsabre in the new Star Wars coming out. As more balance board games come out... ho-boy! |

I'm not saying it wouldn't survive in a few fringe groups. However, for the vast majority of the gaming population, literally running from corner to corner of Cyrodil is something very unappealing. What these guys did for Warcraft - HAVING TO DO THAT would kill RPGs. |

I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm saying that's the way gaming seems to be going. Graphics haven't got that much further to go before perfection. Then what? The Wii (and to a lesser extent, the PS3) is paving the way for more user-intensive control systems. I think we'll see smaller maps (:D), but I think things are definately going that way. |

But even on Legend of Zelda, all you have to is press down the analog stick to run all around the land. |
