In my opinion if the US would withdraw from NATO, the EU would be weakened and Russia would be a little happier with the US. But The US will fall from her throne, unless something huge happens. India, China and Japan will fight each other sooner or latter. If Russia was smart, they would play them against each other... I see Russia on the rise, Russia has large reserves of oil and other resources. The only problem for Russia will be its low birth rate or other counties trying to take control. The EU will never have the balls to become a military power, unless Britain decides to take control of the EU. The Middle East will fall, they are running low on oil and have few other resources to support them once the oil fails. |

The US will never pull out of Nato. Russia has a huge strangle on Europe in terms of oil, so since they're gaining influence Europe wants the US to, you know, stay around. |

However the EU is already a giant economical power that has twice the american population and a much larger GDP . Potentially, if united, it could control everything as in the good old times, but they will never get totally united . |

The population of the EU is only one and a half times the US. The combined GPD only slightly higher and it's worse per capita. Yeah... if britian had got it's finger out, we could have taken over the EU. But it's far too late for us to take control. |

UK is the most useless part of the EU : it only vetoes other initiatives, refuses to take the Euro and professes anti-European ideas . However the quality of life in countries like Germany, Belgium and Netherlands is slightly higher than in America : it's not really about the GDP pro capita, but the way it's distributed . |

Russia and India are historical allies, so I dunno what you're talking about with this "Russia playing everyone" nonsense. Japan would never fight India either, and Japan and China still hate each other, even if not officially anymore. Japan and Russia are STILL technically at war with each other from WWII, and aren't that friendly due to the Kuril Islands dispute. So Japan won't be getting played by the Russians or anyone else in this fight, though they may independantly hook up with India to take on China, as India gets help from the Russians seperately for the same thing. |

Here's how to end this - tell Putin either he pulls out of Georgia completely or we put the Ukraine into NATO tomorrow. |

But now all the armchair generals are going to be sad... And now I won't get to wander through Liveleak and Youtube looking a new raw footage (emphasis on raw) from the war. Ah well, at least I can go back to reading Exiled Online and not see anything about Georgia there. |

Georgia says Russia bombed after order to halt war All I have to say is, what did you expect Georgia? And bombing civilians seems to be a common war tactic these days, oh wait... it's always been? Thus I say  at Bush's statement. Go to the very end of the article. ^^ |

I guess it was wishful thinking to think this was over, or maybe wishful thinking that it'd continue? Anyways, just saw CNN saying Russia isn't honoring the cease-fire and is continuing to move troops further into Georgia. Then I saw Bush live talking about it. He didn't actually say anything useful, just that he sent Condi, and he literally said Condi and then stumbled a bit in his speech and said Secretary Rice, in to deal with the situation, or something like that. You could tell the man does not know how to deal with the situation. He's scared. |

Well, what can Bush do about it?? Nothing, or go to war with Russia?? Not a good choice. He needs to put the screws to Putin which means immediate acceptance of the Ukraine into NATO. |

The question is, is NATO willing to accept Ukraine? It's not like Ukraine is any better. They ban children's movies from Russia on the basis that they're propaganda. Some say Putin is a dictator. Ukraine's leaders are probably no different. That'd be something to look into... I'm pro-Putin, but breaking that cease-fire and taking Gori is pretty messed up. But no one can or will do anything to stop them. I think this is proof of Russia's superpower status. |

How are you quantifying quality of life? If you're going by ration cards, then EU citizens definitely recieve many more then Americans. Edited by lebowski2123, Aug 14 2008, 07:53 PM.
