So the Marines are after me, wanting me to do electronic warfare. Hacking and preventing hackers, that kinda stuff.

I scored 87 on the ASVAB

Well I scored a 93!!! Muwahahah! Or was it 97...

Yeah, Marines seriously annoy me. No offense to anyone, but all they do is charge and die! Well, not anymore now that they're trained in urban tactics by the ARMY.

I'm going Army, likely Military Intelligence. I'll take Special Forces if I can get it. Don't worry, I'm going through college first to become an officer.

But good job Menhad. That puts you in something of the top 5% in the country. Only 16% score 60 or higher, and only 50% score 50 or higher. Meaning the other 50% scores lower than 50.

Sorry but you are both wrong...

The Marines rush in, do things right for a while... then when things start to screw up they bring the army in who cocks things up even more...

If I were to go military, I'd go Air Force. I'd enroll in the EOD program, which would probably end up with me in Iraq disarming IEDs because the army cannot be cocked to do anything about them.

You're misinformed.

I'll give you an example:

I believe this was early Iraq War, Fallujah. Maybe I'm wrong about the city, which escapes my mind, but this did happen.

Army Airborne took and held the city without one man being lost. Not ONE man. They send in the Marines to take over the operation. Immediately they start dropping like flies, and the casualty rate skyrocketed. After that, the Army had to take back over control, the Marines were recalled, and afterwards all Marines were trained in urban tactics by the ARMY.

Army doesn't screw up things. They know what their doing. The politicians screw up things.

The mess in Iraq isn't the military's fault, it's the government's fault for not listening to the military.

We told those bastards we needed at least ~250,000, if not many times more. They only allowed ~60,000.

This would have been over and done with years ago had they just listened.

And no, I'm not wrong about any of this. I have a direct pipeline into intelligence. :D

I have several cousins in the Marine Corps and they were among the first to go in and re-storm Fallujah.

Marines are... different from the Army. But I wouldn't go so far as to say they're poor fighters, as their exceptionally long history goes to show. More than two hundred hundred years of badassitude beneath their belt.

In regard to how the "military shaft's them", the USMC is the expeditionary force of the US Armed Forces, and is specifically tailored to following their maxim of "first to fight". From MEU's to MEF's, their whole purpose is to be as mobile and flexible as possible.

In regards to who is better, the Army or the Marine Corps, I'll let you armchair generals rant on about that.. Both branches have their own purposes, and I wouldn't go around telling everyone how "Marines are good for dying" or how the "Army blows".. Whatever..

At the moment, I'm gearing up to submit my application for the Marine-Option NROTC program later this year.. Competition towards getting a Marine-Option NROTC scholarship is definitely tough, but with my good academic record, sterling extracurricular track, and utterly badass (if I may say so myself) physical condition.. I ought to have a decent chance at grabbing that full college ride.

You are making a mistake, if infantry is the queen of weapons, artillery is the king and everybody knows what a king makes with a queen .

My family is in all the branches of Italian army since five generation, we have fought four wars winning all of them ( yaiii ! :D ) .
Iraq has been a failure because politicians have wanted to be generals : the military had told them that it was totally crazy to try to hold Baghdad, and not only the south but Bush didn't hear them .
Pretty much the same thing happened fourty years ago with Vietnam : war is a too much serious thing to be left to civilians .

And peace is too much of a fleeting thing to be left in the hands of generals.

Marines - what I like about them is how they are frugal with their budget - no $600 hammers here. They buy castoff equipment from other branches and retro-fit them on the cheap, and make them deadly. The "Grizlies" being worked on next to my office is a point in fact. Given a choice fo being stalked by the marines or the army, trust me, I'd rather have the cluster f*^k that is the army after me. I'd surely hear them coming, know about it weeks if not months in advance, and have an easier time getting out of their way. The marines would sneek in under cover, quietly, and dispatch me with efficiency.
