Not necessarily. The Machiavellian may suggest to them this choice in order to eliminate what this Machiavellian Prince sees as a burden that outweighs its productive capacity. Attempting to use the dying man as a slave may cost more than it is worth to this Machiavellian. And for this Machiavellian master of manipulation, who is to say that choice is really in the hands of the dying one? Our wills are malleable; only a very small portion of our decision-making process is handled by the conscious mind. |

Good point. Still, answering it truthfully made me out to seem more Machiavellian than I think I really am. I answered it in the affirmative not out of a Machiavellian intention to manipulate, but with a respect for human liberty and pity for a dying man in mind. My only problem with the question is that it didn't specify why you chose the answer the you did. |

Being Machiavellian doesn't mean you're evil. All it means is that you have a different outlook on people. You could still eliminate sick people out of respect for them. See, myself, I can manipulate people every which way. I can read them like a book. I can predict their every move. But do I use this to my advantage? No, not usually. That makes life to easy and makes me feel too evil. In mind, I am fully Machiavellian, in practice, I am not. Thus, the made-up title: the Machiavellian Saint. I rather use my knowledge of people and my manipulative skills to help people. Some people need advice from someone who understands them fully, and some people just don't know what's good for them and to be "persuaded" to go a different way. Lesser evil for greater good is sometimes necessary. Funny thing is, I can do all of it without lying. ;) I need to call my girl. This is getting me all fuzzy inside. |
