-Express delivery to the Brotherhood of the Holy Sepulcher, Carthage, Cyprus, and Spain-

Official Statement from Sedulion

By the order of Stiofan Paul Ui Siadhail, Grandmaster of the Brotherhood of Saint Siadhail, this statement has been released to the nations of the world.

All who honor the Roman name, heed this call! The Lord of Damascus believes it is time to raise the Empire from out of the dust. The cities of Rome, Constantinople, Antioch, Damascus, Jerusalem, Alexandria, and Carthage must once again be united under one Emperor! If not for the glory of Rome, then for peace in this world! War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death ride over our world unchecked, and only through Pax Romana can order be restored once more. But before such a task can be accomplished, all sons and daughters of Rome must band together in a great alliance, so that through our influence success can be guaranteed.

One Faith, One Emperor! Glory to the Empire!

Perhaps this man is Caesar, perhaps not. We will see where the Roman people stand. What becomes of this is entirely up to them. Sedulion will wait to see the outcome. In any case, he need not worry if he is truly the Emperor of all Romans.

Sedulion will not interfere in the affairs of another state. Any attempt to do so would be seen as an attempt to cause distress and and destablization against the Government of a Dominion ally. That will not be looked upon kindly.

Official Statement of Sedulion

Sedulion states no intent to destabilize any government. We find it troublesome that the Dominion is biased in support of a monarchy when it had stated that part of its mission was the eradication of such. We also find it this claim to throne of the Empire unfair to the other claimants and heirs: being the exiled Russian Emperor, the current Russian usurper, as well as the sons of the last true Roman Emperor. What of these people and their nations? The Grandmaster's message was one of unity, not war. If such can be achieved without violence, then let it be so.

But also let it be known that Sedulion has taken no position on who should be Emperor. As Master Vallinius stated, that is for the Roman people to decide. We would also like to remind the Dominion that Sedulion abides by its vision of military rule. As we have stated before, while we may have the trappings of a democracy or a monarchy, we are anything but. We are not so different.

OOC-

No, did not clear it. Was not aware I had to. This isn't a declaration of war, it's just a declaration. Though I know what will likely become of it.

But someone had to oppose the Dominion eventually, eh?

OOC- I know, but I was hoping active resistance against the Dominion would occur AFTER the Olympics. :P

BTW, Constantinople no longer exists. Its Genesis City now...

IC-

Modern Monarchies, including that of the Orthodox Empire, are facimilies of the Caesarist state of Rome of old, which has finally returned. The Dominion has long admired ancient Rome and it is troubling to see modern states attempt to equate that with the modernist and civillianized principles of monarchy.

This bussiness of what is fair and misplaced sense of entitlement only proves how corrupted the pretenders have become as the true caesar restored Genesis to its former glory.

I am not going to give this unilateral, and to be quite honest pathetic, declaration any more attention than it has already been given. These foolish, heathen idiots do not know their history for Catholic Europe has ruled these lands as a state for centuries and centuries.

But, do not be mistaken, any hostile action taken towards my nation or my people will be totally crushed in the most brutal fashion.

OOC- Ah, did not know you wanted that. Well, such resistance can be put off, but the sides can at least be drawn.

Also, I would think the Orthodox world would still call Genesis City by Constantinople, no matter how long it has been out of Roman hands. That is certainly the position I take, and so do the RL Greeks, even though it's been Istanbul for centuries now. Don't think it would be much different in game, as there was a Byzantine Empire. Just my two cents.

Official Statement from Sedulion

We are disappointed with the responses of the Dominion and Catholic Europe.

To Catholic Europe:
We had hoped this could be debated civilly. For an Emperor to not wish his true Empire united is unsettling, and for him to insult brother Christians who believe as he should that Christ died for their sins is even more so unsettling. Unity is Sedulion's only goal. If you think otherwise, you are mistaken.

To the Dominion:
We understand and share your concerns about corruption. As we had stated, Sedulion has not recognized anyone as Emperor, thus we recognize no single nation as the Empire. Should the Empire be reunited, you have our assurances that we would ensure its purity. We also warn that in only recognizing the empire based out of Constantinople as the Roman Empire, you ignore all other Roman peoples and their rights. Perhaps certain governments over them are corrupt, perhaps not, but you cannot accuse a people as a whole as being such.

Statement from the Offices of the Regent of Nag Ehgoeg

We fully support Sedulion’s call to increase the territories of Catholic Europe encompass all so-called “Roman” lands. We recognise Russia as “heir” to the Romans and therefore encourage them to pledge fealty to Caesar Antonio as a token of respect.

Furthermore, there is no Christian church beyond the Catholic teachings of Genesis City. All other sacraments are not born of the teachings of Jesus Christ who entrusted his church to St. Peter whose rightful line of divinely inspired successors led to St. Jamie I, but rather they are born from man’s sin of Pride (such as in the case of the Orthodox) or from the tongue of the devil himself (such as in the so-called “Church” of Cologne). For Sedulion to call themselves “brother Christians” without recognising the Caesar as a man chosen by God to lead his people is the only real insult here.

OOC: This actually kinda works out well for that thing we were discussing CE.

OOC: Filo, I don't know. Maybe Nag didn't want anyone arguing too much. I do know the history of the city very well though. The Greek peoples have always called the city Constantinople ever since it was renamed such. Before they of course called it Byzantium. The people of Islam, I believe, have always called it Istanbul. I have no idea how ancient that name may be. But basically, what the city is called depends on the people talking about it. RL I still call it Constantinople because the Greeks still do, and it was wrongfully taken by the Turks centuries ago.

But like Nag says, in game it was Byzantium until renamed Genesis City, which it has always been called since. I think I'm really only calling it Constantinople because of my RL reservations and my opinion that it sounds way cooler than any of the other names.

Well, I'm going to assume CE knows as much as everyone else on the schism. Sorry if I'm wrong CE, but I need to keep this going.

IC:

Official Statement from Grandmaster Stiofan Paul Ui Siadhail

I apologize if the Grand Forum in Damascus has been stirring up a bit of trouble. My people are very eager, it seems, to see this Pax Romana come to pass. I would be happy to help such a great thing happen. As far as swearing fealty to Caesar Antonio I, I hesitate to do so being that it seems his legitimacy to the Throne is that of the sword. If he could prove he is truly chosen by God to lead the Empire, then we would swear loyalty to him without a thought. He may need only show that he is a moral man.

As far as my people not being considered brother Christians, I believe this proves a bit of ignorance in the officers of the Regent of Nag Ehgoeg both in scripture and their analysis of Sedulion. I would advise that the Regent either screen his officers better or that he have his current ones better study their scripture.

I do not recall any part of the Holy Bible that says anyone must swear allegiance to any man. Only God is worthy of our allegiance. However, Jesus did say that we should give to Caesar what is Caesar's, though this would seem only to be a matter of respect and taxes if owed. We certainly respect Caesar Antonio I for what he has done: bringing order to an anarchic region. However, he does not rule us. If he wishes to do so, then he must prove himself as chosen to do so.

The majority of Sedulion is of its now united Catholic Church. These people are of many backgrounds: for the most part they are either Irish Catholic or former Byzantine Orthodox. Our Christians coexist peacefully and worship together, as they should. One might step into some churches of Sedulion and see no difference as compared to a church in Rome. People who opt not to belong to the church are allowed to worship as they please, these being for the most part the people of Islam. They live peacefully alongside all the other people of Sedulion, and give plenty to charity. They are not allowed to spread their religion, however, as this might disrupt the peace, and is counter to Sedulion's purpose. This, and the banning of cults, are our only restrictions on religion. If I am not mistaken, this is not so different from the policies of Nag Ehgoeg. Sedulion recognizes the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church as being the only true church. If I'm not mistaken, both the Eastern Orthodox Church and Genesian Catholic Church call themselves such, in essence, they are possibly both true churches.

The schism between them was long ago for reasons most people seem not to remember. For Christian to fight Christian is wrong, just as it is for any man to fight any man. Why not reunite? Such would bring peace to the turmoil we face today. This is all I have to say, and I hope the people of the world see the wisdom in it. If they cannot, then this world is lost, and I hope the Lord takes me quickly.

-Statement from the Offices of the Regent, Nag Ehgoeg-

The Office of the Regent does not debate matters of philosophy. We are happy to accept that we are wrong when countered by a higher authority. But an analysis of history is clear. You claim that God is all knowing and all powerful. Jesus entrusted his Church to St. Peter, who founded the Catholic Church - the one true and only Catholic Church - and that church prevides from Gensis City. All other teachings are in schism from Christ's chosen successor.

Nag Ehgoeg, however, allows freedom of religion - a greater freedom it seems that Seldion. We merely only recognise the Genesian Christian Church as being the only True Christian Church - and the Caliph of Paradise to have ultimate authority over all Islam.

Nag Ehgoeg accepts that you have made some valid points and sees no need to quibble further over these little matters. Reunification and issues of expanding Caeser's rule to Pax Roma are issues best debated with Catholic Europe, not Nag Ehgoeg.

-Official Statement from the Dominion-

We stand by previous statements and have nothing new to add at this time.

Official Statement from the Tsar of Russia

Until such time as the Romanov line has be extinguished, I, Tsar Paul Georgovich Romanov II and my heirs shall claim to be the rightful heirs to the Imperial Roman thrown of old Damascus, by the grace of God and Divine right from heaven. I can assure my brothers and sisters of the Orthodox world that I shall return to my thrown in St. Petersburg and in doing so will cement both my rule of Russia and the Orthodox people of the world. Until such time I ask the people of orthodoxy to continue to not recognize the usurper Yusupov.

Though we have no ill will against the Nagians, I refuse the suggestion that I should swear fealty to the Caesar of Catholic Europe. The respect I should Caesar Antonio I of Catholic Europe is that I acknowledge him as the rightful leader of the Catholic European People and nothing more.

We recognise the Romanov claim to Damascus and the Imperial Roman lineage. We do not, however, recognise the authority of Damascus over Rome, or indeed any of the lands of Catholic Europe.

As such, we are not offended in the least that you choose not to swear fealty to the Caesar of Catholic Europe. Indeed, we thank you for recognising his rule over his lands.

So long as the Romanov line makes no claim on the lands of Catholic Europe, there is no conflict.

The Brotherhood of Saint Siadhail will fully support any move of Tsar Paul Georgovich Romanov II to reclaim the throne in St. Petersburg. Perhaps this should be the first focus of the Roman peoples. I will let the Tsar know when my knights are ready for his service.

An Excerpt from an editorial in the Island, an ultranationalist Cypriot paper:

...the Russians, the Irishmen, the Nagians, the Catholic Europeans, they all wage a war of words over Nova Rome and over who has the right to claim the title Emperor of the Romans. The presumptious Irishmen who so arrogantly occupy the lands of Syria seek to act as the leader of the Orthodox world, where they have no right to be, while the Catholic European Caesar attempts to once and for all destroy the Orthodox world. The heathen Nagians find cause to meddle in Orthodox affairs, and the Russian Emperor in exile so desperately clings to his crown.

To hell with them, the pretenders to the throne of Rome, the heathens, the heretics. To hell with them who bicker as if it were their right to represent the Orthodox world. To hell with them who refuse to recognize the King of Cyprus' rightful position.

The King of Cyprus, our beloved Constantine, is the son of the great Emperor Emmanuel, the last Emperor to rule a truly united Empire of the Romans. What right has a Romanov to claim the throne when a Monomachus survives?

Constantine should be proclaimed Emperor of the Romans! Cyprus, combined with the Triune Kingdom of the West, could reunite the territories of the old Empire, forcing the Irishmen out of Damascus, forcing Catholic Europe back into the anarchy she so rightfully deserves, and sending the heathen Nag Ehgoeg back to the hell from which it came.

To do this, we must first rid ourselves of our domestic pests, the first being Bishop Epiphonias, who has the King's ear and discourages the poor boy from taking his rightful place in the world. Such traitors must be...

An excerpt from an article in the Tablet, a tabloid newspaper

...our nation, so recently reborn like a phoenix from the flames which had consumed her for so long, has already become the victim of the jealousy that rages in numerous nations throughout the world at these sacred lands. Indeed, only yesterday the editor of an ultranationalist Cypriot paper, in his editorial, said, and I quote directly, 'To hell with them who refuse to recognize the King of Cyprus' rightful position
'. In essence, I agree with this statement and join in with this editor in his declaration that those who refuse to recognize the ruler of Cyprus' right to rule that island. But that is as far as our concensus on this issue goes for he makes a fatal error in saying the King of Cyprus and not the Emperor.

Cyprus was once an integral part of our glorious nation and it was not until the War of Succession, a war that devastated us with illegal and satanic weapons being used against our ancestors, that it was illegally stolen from us in the peace treaties that followed. Thus, our own Caesar, His Imperial Majesty Antonio I, is the real rightful ruler of Cyprus and I demand, as I'm sure you all do, that every nation immediately, and without any hesitance, recognise this fact and that Cyprus be re-absorbed into our glorious nation.

The Empress, on behalf of the Empire, would like to make it clear that this diplomatic assault on Catholic Europe is both unwarranted and unwelcome by the Holy Roman Empire. Catholic Europe is a noble nation, and the Genesian Church is a long standing, highly respected institution here in the Empire.

We would also like to make it clear that any prospects of a wedding between the Empress and King Constantine are now gone, following certain remarks made by Cypriot newspapers and the Orthodox world as a whole.

The Empire would like to make it clear that Sedulion is a rogue nation and should be dealt with as such. We highly look down on Orthodox powers egging this delusional idea on.

I am saddened by the words of the Empress. It seems she has let the words of radicals too much influence her statements. It is the publishers of those papers who are the rogues, not I, nor the people of my nation. I am but a man who strives to be of the highest morality. Any who wish to test my quality, I challenge them to do so.

How many times must I state I do not wish war? I wish only unity; I wish only to repair schisms made so long ago. Perhaps war will come, but isn't it obvious that such a war would have come sooner or later? I wish to prevent this conflict from occurring, and if the sense in my words would simply be listened to, then perhaps it can be.

I am ready and prepared to do whatever God would have me do by His plan. I hope the rest of the world is ready as well.

I am deeply hurt and offended by the words coming from the Holy Roman Empire. The government of Cyprus has made no comment on the Sedulionic call to reconsolidate the Empire of the Romans, nor have we made any threatening statements towards Catholic Europe or the Genesian faith. To say that Sedulion, a foreign, if allied state, represents Cyprus is the height of absurdity, as is to say that a tabloid paper, which I made add is currently being sued by the government of Cyprus for libel against the Emperor, Paul II, does the same.
