Turn on the news and hear of Tony Snow's passing. I heard he was taken to the hospital back in April, and I knew he was battling Cancer and suspected that it was related to it. Apparently, the Cancer had spread from his Colon to his Liver. Damn... He was one of the few Joe's I liked, too... Thoughts/Comments? |

All the old newspeople seem to be going out at an alarming rate. Russert's death was highly saddening. The new generation is conspiring against the old people methinks...:phear: |

This death reminds me to mention, impending economic collapse caused by basic commodities shortage will likely cause a massive worldwide die-off of hundreds of millions or even billions of people.

Do you predict anyone on these forums to go in that direction, TC? |

It's possible. In the particular case of the US, this country will likely sustain less casualties than more overpopulated regions of the world, due to our relative abundance of arable land compared to our number of inhabitants. However the social and moral fabric of the US is so far below that of certain other places in the world that in many respects life in the post-apocalyptic US may be unspeakably grim anyways. Prospects are poorer for the diabetics on our forum due to the health complications. I would advise stocking up on vast quantities of insulin shots, in addition to the chocolates (efficient source of calories), the dried beans (non-perishable proteins), and the multivitamins I would recommend for everyone. Enough multivitamin pills should be stored to last until a reliable fruit orchard can be set up to supply the necessary vitamins. Macabre and unconventional thoughts, yes. |

Interesting analysis, to say the least. I think I know of a few places to retreat to should anything go south quickly, as so long as I am not killed or gunned down before I escape Sacramento. Or burned the freak alive...
If I had the money, and you were up for hire as a nutritionist, I'd never come down with even the damn common cold. You've clearly put a lot of thought into this... We're you preparing yourself for this predicted event?
... To say the least... :phear: |

*Sigh* I'm not gonna lie... I had no respect for this guy while he worked in Washington. And I'm sure I'll get flamed for this post, but I'm just being truthful. |

Your not gonna get flamed from me, chances are, nobody is going to "flame" you. I won't lie I liked him, but there are bound to be people who don't. Doesn't mean I am not going to respect where they stand on the issue. Mind you, some threads touching much less sensitive subjects have erupted into very ... "passionate" debates. |

Considering a couple of the other forums I go to, I just assume I'm going to get trolled for anything I say ;) Anyway though, I did like his work in the USA Today. I mean, that was a while back, but all the same it's a good read today. |

Oh in fact I have just the cure for common cold on hand. My prescription calls for eating an average of 10 apples a day, the apple-skin being the functional ingredient; once you become repulsed by eating so much apple-flesh you might even shave off the apple-skin and just eat that. Excess apple-flesh is too much sugary food anyways. The antioxidant and vitamin co-factor properties found in apple-skin greatly enhances immunological functioning and optimization of cellular metabolism. You know the saying "an apple a day keeps the doctor away?" Well 10 apples a day blows the doctor's face off with a shotgun. Another advantage to apples is they are a hardy plant that can be cultivated even at a harsh northern latitude, an important consideration when tropical oranges and bananas will simply become non-existent in most of the US, gasoline-based transportation lines having been wiped out. Currently my head is full of dreadful and disastrous scenarios about the apocalypse of modern civilization. But I'm not only intensely paranoid, I'm also quite lazy and a procrastinator, so no I have not yet roused myself to action based on my theoretical speculations. Once the People's Republic of China collapses into a new Warlord Era (China will collapse sooner than the US due to a variety of factors), I'm going to use all the money I have to buy shotguns, canned food, and all that. The collapse of modern China into unbridled anarchy will be my signal, and would be a rather compelling signal for anyone aware of the state of modern global industrial civilization, to load up on guns and dig in. |

Nahhh, we're (mostly) reasonable people here, save for our radical ideologies and unusual predictions, among other non-typical things. If Communists and Fascists can live under the same roof, carry on a conversation and RP together without sending each other Death threats or ... or worse, mail bombs. (Regardless of the fact that its against the forum rules to kill your neighbor) Then I think your among good company, dear ol' Ulgania. :P  |

Jesus, TC -- I'll keep that in mind... Though, admittedly, I prefer to be optimistic. Never failed me before, I see no reason to stop now. ... Mind you, if I see China splinter like a tree struck by lightning, I'll forever be reminded of what you said. :phear: |

China is doomed by its own weight. 1,000,000 haves, 2,000,000,000 have-nots. That is a Tsarist Russian scenario just waiting to happen! In spite of what the world may think of the US, we are likely to be able to be more self-reliant than most other land masses, except we will have an invasion from the South to fend off. Just saw the movie Apocolypto last night! Freightening scenario that may more predict the future than light the past. As to Tony Snow - regardless of if you liked his politics or not, he was a good man, and is a great loss to anyone that enjoys great writing. Don't worry, Ulgania, we won't kill you for being a pinko commie liberal!   |
