Is this not the best game ever? A few of my friends and I spent 10-11 hours last night just playing Rock Band. It was some of the most fun I've had in a long time. Such a great multiplayer game.

I love that game! The best thing is doing two parts at once. Like singing while playing guitar! It's so much fun. I can do everything on Expert except for the drums. Drums are hella hard. Damn bass pedal!

Ok, there's a lot of things I want to talk about related to Rock Band. Not least among which is organising some kind of 360 based NS rock-off.

But seeing as I just completed the Solo Tour (and Bonus Tour) for the Guitar on hard today, I thought I'd share some thoughts I had:

1) Why are there so few tracks? Seriously. Ok, my girlfriend and I got a lot of entertainment from getting into the hall of fame, and we're looking forward to endless marathoning this weekend. But even after spending ~2000 points on downloading new tracks, it still has fewer songs than Guitar Hero 3.

2) What's with all the Fender BS? Seriously. In guitar hero I can play guitars similiar to what I own, and guitars I aspire to own one day. I've not really found any guitar that interests me on Rock Band.

3) Why is there no epic song? Guitar Hero 2 had Freebird. GH3 had Fire & Flames. All Rock Band has is "the new raining blood" - aka, Flirtin' With Disaster. It needs an epic power song. Something stupidly hard and crazy long.

4) Why is it easier than Guitar Hero? Don't get me wrong, I'm ****ing good at Guitar Hero. But I can't complete Guitar Hero 3 on Hard. Can't even play Raining Blood perfectly on Easy (though that is the only song I can't play perfectly on Easy). Yet I had no trouble on Hard with Rock Band (well, I failed Flirtin' once). Because I can count on the band to bail me out, I've been playing on Expert with no fears.

I haven't played Rock Band since December :( I need to meet some people who have it in this part of the country...

I played Rock Band two weeks ago as the drummer (4 players game). That was awesome.

Unfortunately, I can't play anything else than the drum, otherwise I suck

Try playing Green Grass and High Tides on Expert guitar, or hell, even Expert bass. It's definitely the Freebird of Rock Band. And if that's still too easy for you, try singing in addition to playing guitar or bass.

2000 points? What songs did you get?

As for an NS rock-off... I would be up for participating and can do either guitar or bass on Expert. I can do Expert vocals on most songs, but there's a few I can only do on Hard. As for drums, I'm up for Hard on most songs, but I can do any of them on Medium. So, basically, just put me in where you need me. I can use my friend's xbox and rock band stuff if we organize this far enough in advance.

The European version comes with a bunch of downloaded songs... I got pissed because I downloaded a track I already had. But the downloaded songs I have are:

"Beetlebum"
"Countdown to Insanity"
"Hysteria"
"Hier Kommt Alex"
"Manu Chao"
"Monsoon"
"New Wave"
"Perfekte Welle"
"Rock 'n' Roll Star"

"Roxanne"
"Sweet Leaf"
"I Fought the Law"
"Buddy Holly"
"Last Train to Clarksville"
"All the Small Things"
"Don't Look Back in Anger"
"Live Forever"
"Wonderwall"
"Just What I Needed"
"Margaritaville"

Green Grass was challenging on Hard. Don't get me wrong - I'm not looking forward to playing it on Expert. But on Hard it wasn't a patch on Flirtin' with Disaster - and that's only about as challenging as Knights of Cydonia on GH3.

But hey, we'll see when I get to it.

On Guitar/Bass I can complete any song on Hard - I can get five stars on most of them, but need a little more practice before I'm upto playing on Hard competatively. If people don't mind bailing me out, I'm happy to play on Expert.

On drums... there's no way in hell I'm playing above Medium. Drums are hard.

On vocals... you guys don't want to hear me sing.

As an aside, I checked into it on the internet. Going purely by number of notes per second, GH3 on Hard is equal to GH2 on Expert. Rock Band on Expert is equal to GH2 on Hard. That makes Rock Band much easier than GH3. On the flip side, while there are fewer Rock Band notes (and they're easier to see) you have to be much more precise when playing them - a fact that's really screwed me playing on Expert when hitting the hammer-ons and pull-offs.

I believe it. GH3 kills me, but on some innate level I feel like I should excel on hard, because in GH2 I can play expert competently but not well
