What are the "Most Powerful" rankings based on?

Basically, I found the rankings of every country in our world for GDP, Military Expenditures, and Population. I then added up a country's total score (based on their ranking # from each list), and used that for their "total" to be judged in the "Most Powerful" list.

It's not perfect, I know.
But its an indication that accounts for military spending, economics, and population. Thought I'd mix it up a bit from the standard defense-spending-only list. Though, I was seriously debating on whether to call it "Powerful" or "Prestigious." In the end, I thought powerful could be more objective, seeing as prestige would also carry a factor of politics, which is not measurable.

In the future, I'll likely add more things to be judged by (perhaps per-capita GDP or something).

You've already beaten me to this. I have been compiling the data bit by bit, and I have interruptions liking moving furniture and the like to cause me to forget what I was working on...

All well, it does look good. If you want, per capita and currency strength could very easily be a factor.

How is currency strength measured?
On Nseconomy, they measure your currency to that of the NationState Dollar. It is assumed the NS$ is the medium of exchanged.

What you are looking for is the relationship of your currency to that of the NS$. Inflation is prevalent in your country if it looks something like this:

1.0001 pounds=1 NS$

Inflation is under control if it looks something like this:

1.0001 NS$=1 pound, or whatever your currency is.

Isn't it possible that the exchange rate 100 pounds = 1 NS$ has remained constant for the past 50 years, indicating absence of inflation? While 1 NS$ = 0.5 francs, up from 1 NS$ = 0.25 francs last year, indicating 100% annual inflation. I think it's difficult to judge economic health from the "snapshot" exchange rate offered by NSeconomy.

That is true. But it is really all we have. I am historian first, ametuer economist second :D ! If someone could come up with something determining currency strength that is more consistent I am all for it.

NSeconomy = big crap.

I mean, what's the point in considering that civil rights positively affect GDP? Makes no sense. It only disadvantages Paradise :(

I would suggest a logarithmic methodology for rankings (thus favoring the higher ranked nations like myself) :hypocrite:

How about add in their RP presence as a factor, too. I'd probably actually be less powerful if you did that, but I think it'd be a lot more accurate as a whole. I don't know of any way to judge such a factor though, I just like the idea.

I agree as well.
As soon as I can find a measurable way to put this in, it will be considered.

In fact, if I could do so, I'd just turn this list into "most prestigious." That way, countries will be judged a bit more accurately, I suppose. I mean, obviously Ulgania, which is falling into civil war, would go lower. Countries in multiple treaties would go higher... I just need a way to measure it.

Some sort of player recognition contest could be in order to decide who is most worthy of recieving the most points for roleplay participation.

Huh, I'm not disappointed, considering I'm Ireland, and considering the main reason it's not so powerful is its youth compared to the rest of the nations. Considering that, that's a damn good Ireland. :P
